Screamscape

I guess screamscape did have the inside on this one.

Blue Gemini Always Wins.

Kutos to them for showing it too.

No different than a car magazine leaking new vehicle designs before the company releases the official photos. Part of life now a days. You don't want to see it, don't look.

Maybe they did, but I did notice they changed the wording in the leak post. It said 17 million at one time, now it says 21. I'm guessing that those press packets were mailed a while ago. Just that screamscape jumped the gun, intentionally!

No, they were most certainly not mailed early. Lance chose to publish non-public information. I hope he's never looking for any favors from parks. You think he would've learned after posting PKI Tomb Raider blueprints a few years ago. That pissed off a lot of people.

I guess when you're the equivalent of the Weekly World News you don't care whose toes you step on.

Jeff, some idiots never learn. I guess Lance is one of those idiots.

Walt coudl we just close this discussion, I mean we dont need to talk about (that other site). They have lost all their hopes at any parks feeding them any information on anything.

I guess you people do want to discuss it. Sorry!

Ride-on

This will be an important thread to look back at when CP cuts screamscape from it's mailing list. Pulls the permission the site needs to publish pictures, etc for all Cedar Fair parks. And even better, makes it public thing! To me it's like a movie reviewer telling everyone who did it before the movie even comes out!

People will always have the information ahead of time no matter what you do. Especially with the internet now.

You people act as if he committed treason against the United States, I say that if he got the info from a source he considered credible, then post it.

As someone else said before, if you don't want to know, then don't look at it.

No, this isn't treason. I think we understand the context. It isn't CNN-worthy, but that doesn't mean it isn't valid. PointBuzz has a niche audience, and it's reasonable to expect a narrow focus to produce some passion.

But this isn't exposing a corrupt CEO or reporting on our government. The industry and the fansites should be working together and respecting each others wishes and plans.

You'll never see a legitimate car magazine/website release images that haven't been released, just the guy whose website averages about 30 hits per day (mostly him checking to see if his hit counter went up). Its the same with the amusement industry.

John

This wouldn't have happened if CP would have announced the ride earlier. ;) Honestly, its just what I'd expect from Screamscape.

You obviously don't know what happens to the people responsible for unauthorized leaks in the auto industry. And, no, losing one's job is far from the worst of it.

Comparing the auto industry to the amusement industry is like comparing fleas to elephants.

The problem is that for every step parks take forward with sharing information with our community, they take one step back when people post junk like this. Those of us who have been in this Web space this long don't really like to see our relationship building undone by people who do things that piss off the parks.

For the record, I wasn't validating the comparison - I was merely contradicting his vague assertion that there are no consequences for leaking sensitive information.

Brandon

Leaking sensitive info is like slamming your window of opportunity shut in any business. I do agree that the auto and entertainment industries are far from similar, however both need competitive edges to survive because of being a business period. Leaking information from an amusement park can be serious, but I would have to think that the auto-industry would be more serious because they compete globally versus a more regional market that amusement parks compete in.

Leaking sensitive Information for a business eventually costs it money in either sales, marketing, or competition. It boils down to an indirect method of stealing from the companies bank account.

Other leaks that are serious in nature are the CIA prisons. I do not support Bush, but I agree that for the CIA to operate properly, much of what it does needs to be secret. That protects the country.

In conclusion, though I saw the screamscape leak and it settled some questions ahead of time, I am upset that the leak occured in the first place.
