Sandusky police investigating accident at Cedar Point near Raptor

We can all blame the victim but this has become almost a yearly event at the point. 2015 raptor, 2014 skyhawk, 2013 STR , 2012 dragster. CP's record isn't as as sterling as mr Mealy mouth Edwards would have Everyone believe.

But, this is the first death reported at Cedar Point. Cedar Point has an excellent safety record. Some things are just out of their control.

Hopefully Raptor will re-open very soon so that the tens of thousands of guests who follow the rules everyday can enjoy the coaster. After all Raptor has given what, 30 million rides? And had a hundred million people walk by its restricted areas without incident over the past 20 years. I'm just hoping one bad decision by an individual has a minimal impact on everyone else.

He was in a restricted area, yes, it is without a doubt 100% his fault.

Wow. What a terrible, terrible thing. Of course we have to recognize that he disregarded rules that are obviously designed to prevent exactly this. But, to echo some of the sentiments here, none of us can say we've never made a really, really dumb and risky mistake in our lives, thinking we were just a little too invincible. Yeah, it was completely idiotic and 100% selfish. But someone lost their life, several lost a family member, and who knows how many will have to live with what they saw. Sucks, man.

Not to mention the park, despite their best efforts (and good reputation) in terms of safety, will have to carry this burden, all because of one person's awful judgement. It's just such a crappy situation, all around. I'm sure they'll handle it with class. But I'm not touching social media commentary on the issue with a 100 foot pole.

It is going to be strange riding Raptor now, knowing someone was killed by it, especially the part where the man died. Also, CP put out their hearse and casket, I wonder if they will put those away for a little while.

Should not affect their safety record. Stupidity shouldn't count against them they did everything they were supposed to outside of not allowing anyone in to ride. Just let the people look at the cool rides from a distance, got to keep them safe.

Knowing how people tend to overreact, I'm honestly curious how many folks have called for the permanent closure or demolition of Raptor yet.

The media will find a way to make it cedar points fault. Hope I'm wrong they love to over analyze everything.

CPBoy77, someone so devoid of common sense as to (presumably) climb a tall, clearly marked fence to enter an obvious danger zone is not worthy pity or sadness. People that stupid always find ways to cause injuries, usually to many others in the process, so the removal of one less dangerous element from society is not a cause for either remorse or shame. Those whose lives were disrupted as a result are the only victims here, not the deceased.

If he had tried to beat a train at a crossing with his kids in the car would you still be remorseful for his death? Of course not. So why should idiocy that only results in death to the idiot elicit sympathy?

My thoughts and prayers go out to the man's family and friends, as well as those who are at the park today that have been affected by the tragedy. Passing judgment on the deceased only adds more ugliness to an already horrific situation. I hope that we can rise above the temptation to offer criticism and show respect for those are dealing with a loss of a loved one.

What part of the restriced area was he hit in? I mean what portion of the ride hit him? And I must add that I am truly devestated right now to hear about this incident.

This guy was 45, he should've known better. Prayers to the family.

According to WKYC man lost his phone...I said it before...knew it. Lost his life over a phone....I feel for the family, workers and other guests who had to deal with this...
