Hi, welcome to Cedar Point. Please don't jump over fences to get your lost articles. Have a great day!
Welcome back riders, how was that ride!? Awesome! Please exit safely and enjoy the rest of your day here at Cedar Point, America's rockin roller coast. Also, don't jump over the fences to grab your lost articles.......like, seriously.

Its an amusement park, not a prison. There is only so much the CP or any park can reasonably do to keep guests out of restricted areas.

I was joking in my last post. Yes, I agree there isn't much more that can be done. I expect the fences to be raised and that's about it

The best thing we can do is reform the tort system so that stupidity no longer results in a financial windfall; removing the ability to blame others for your mistakes may result in fewer people making them.

Seems like a lot of energy being spent on prematurely beating up on media and lawyers.
You can only raise the fence so far. I wouldn't be surprised to see a different type of fence material.
Or they curve it back on the top to make it more difficult to climb over.

"Its an amusement park, not a prison." Did Dick Kinzel and his team of autocrats know this? But seriously, it may be time to retire Raptor. This could turn into a Halloweekends legend to top the ghost horse. How many wiseguys will be running around that area in Octoer with their heads stuffed into their turtle necka?

Cedar Point shouldn't have to make changes because one IDIOT out of MILLIONS can't follow the stupid rules.... (i know this goes against my earlier posts of being sympathetic, but the longer I think about it, the more baffled I become)

^Am I the only one seeing this right now?? Come on people! Show respect for a lost life. Third time saying this in this thread...
People who make the conscious choice to disobey safety systems designed to prevent injury to themselves and others do not deserve respect; I dont see why thats such a difficult concept. If a man ignores the 'keep out' signs on the fences to a military installation and is shot as a result, does he get your respect as well?
Stop combining the repudiation of an idiotic act with sympathy for those who were affected by it; as I said, the victims here are everybody BUT the man who died.

I've definitely paid my respects in earlier posts, but eventually common sense has to come to light. I honestly don't think I said anything that horrid in my post CPBoy77.

Yes, we do feel bad that an individual lost his life today. However, the whole situation could have been EASILY prevented. There are bins that he should have placed his phone / hat / item. Also, common sense should have told him that a restricted area was a restricted area for a reason. Also, he could have filled a lost item report at Lost and Found.
Can't we all just agree with the following?
So, this makes it odd, and quite sad.
It turns out Mr. Young lives about 12 miles from my home and teaches at my daughter's school in Louisville, Ohio.
I'm sure I'll be hearing a lot about this in days to come.
Promoter of fog.
I'll show my respect for the living, the ones who were negatively impacted by the bad decision of one individual. Those people would include his family, and everyone at Cedar Point today who were negatively impacted by his bad decision. They are the victims, they are the ones who had their day, and possibly rest of their lives altered in an instant over a flat out dumb decision.
I truly do feel for this mans family, wife, children, and everyone else who had to deal with what happened today. But at the same time I realize how preventable this all was if he had simply followed the rules and not been in a fenced off area he knew he wasn't supposed to be.

Except, that's not what is going on. Nobody is being critical to the family and I'm willing to bet they'll never visit this site. No one is going out of their way to let the family know the foolishness of the guy's decision. Because that IS inconsiderate, rude and disrespectful. It's just not what's going on here. You can't sensor everything or everyone on the assumption that what is being said here could reach the family's attention.
A recommendation or request is not censorship. People are free to post want they want but nothing said here will change what happened today.
I did not know this man personally, but I do know someone who lost their life recently as a result of a poor decision. I can tell you that the words of strangers can be devastating and they can also be incredibly uplifting.
I'll just reiterate my support for the loves ones and say once again that they will be in my thoughts and prayers.
This is bad and sad news for the crew and park. Horrible to have a tragedy like this happen.
What is very impressive to me is that there was seemingly no serious injury to the person riding that came in contact with Mr Young. Seems like even at a high velocity, there would be a lot of chances to have a serious injury.
And to the person speaking poorly of Bryan up above: That's seriously disrespectful. Not sure why you dislike Bryan, but he's always been really cool to me and everyone I know. If you have something personal against him personally, I don't think this would be the appropriate thread or venue to air those grievances.
