Just like the car. I don'tunderstand the point of the divider other than annoying us. We're already belted and stapled why do we need to be wedged too? It just makes it harder to deal with the middle age spread and sucks up space.
My daughter and I were at the park for the first time since the incident. We noticed at every turn, almost every step, there is a hazard that could end with fatal results. We took a round trip train ride. Who's stopping us from jumping off if we dropped something? We rode Maverick twice, and wow...that fence is low in some spots. Millennium Force??? Hell, I might get sucked up in the cable lift cabin.
To quote a favorite movie:
"Unaware of what year it was, Joe wandered the streets desperate for help. But the English language had deteriorated into a hybrid of hillbilly, valleygirl, inner-city slang and various grunts. Joe was able to understand them, but when he spoke in an ordinary voice he sounded pompous and faggy to them."
Paisley, the center divider is standard with that type of PTC restraint. I believe it is needed to allow the lap bar to reliably hold you in because you can't slide out of position.
I remember a lot of people being a-holes by trying to stand on Blue Streak. The ride operators were frequently yelling at people to sit via the speakers on the lift, or even stopping the lift because of rider behavior. Such a shame, the original train design was much better.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Am I the only one thinking through this entire situation and putting m myself in the position of the dead guy, or any one who is going to climb a fence for that matter. If I am going to be retarded and climb into a restricted area, I would at least be keeping my eyes and ears open so I could see the ride coming and if it came close, to lay down. But then again once he made his decision to climb, all other logic probably went away with his common sense.
Careful now, I got banned on coasterbuzz for saying the same thing.
Not trying to fan any flames here. Just pointing it out. I think I've learned my lesson.

The seat divider too really kills any enjoyable airtime and makes it even less comfortable of a ride.
This is utter nonsense that has been perpetuated by enthusiasts for far too long. And what's weird is that it is rarely said about any other ride with the same seats.

After spending a weekend in the park and checking out the area. Just...wow..some redundancy but bear with it :P
There was a gate that said employees (or associates) only, then a red restricted area sign. Two signs and two fences were ignored. Infuriating already. Second, seeing how low it gets just off hand is just....wow. Just seeing it drop off the lift into that zone and return there for the helix I cringed just thinking about it. I'm guessing the purple beam supporting each individual seat and the bar attaching them along the bottom is where the individual was struck. Just speculation, but haven't seen anything that official.
Then after talking with a few people this weekend, a couple other things come to mind. I really REALLY hope that was an instantaneous fatality. Even with EMS on scene providing care, I'm hoping it was just a case of attempting BLS/ACLS care with hopes of resuscitation but were unfortunately unable to bring him back. The idea of this gentleman being alive while EMS try to keep him alive just pains me, in no way would that be a way to go. If an autopsy report or any notes related to are ever released, it'll paint a more clear picture, but one can hope it was instantaneous.
I feel terrible for him, his family, friends, and the students he left behind as well. It's truly tragic to see a person go this way, but hopefully, just hopefully this is not a repeated accident ever at Cedar Point or any other park. This article may prevent other guests from repeating the same mistake, or so I hope.

I agree with those who say the 1995-present trains on Blue Streak degrade the ride experience, including airtime.
You could move up a lot more on the old trains with the single bar across the car and the shared seatbelt.
And, if you were sitting on the left, you'd get pushed laterally into the rider on the right and float up out of your seat. It felt much wilder and that is gone.
I agree that the new PTC trains didn't kill all of the airtime.
But, when the trains were replaced, I was much more of a mainstream coaster-lover than an informed enthusiast, and I immediately noticed and lamented the difference.
I think that makes things even worse. If he lost his phone somewhere else, not on the ride, he was killed for no reason at all.
That just makes the "expert's" claims that they coulda/woulda/shoulda built a taller fence with inserts so you can't see through it, null and void.
The deceased did not locate his lost article(s) before climbing the fence. He figured he would go looking for them and that was that.
A sign, on a fence, surrounding a large, fast, loud roller coaster was not able to prevent him from continuing his search in a forbidden zone. Nothing could have prevented this.
At this point deep down I feel that this thread should be closed before it gets out of hand. We all know what happened. Jeff do you agree???....
I don't think moderation is your concern.
