"valravn is described ... as half-wolf and half-raven creatures."
Interesting idea. Only trouble is, a raven is not classified as a raptor.
(Think about it. The new ride is to be built halfway between a hawk and a werewolf.)

Thanks, for some reason it wasn't doing this before when I clicked the quote button so I just didn't get it. It's working now. Stupid Dell-worst 600 bucks I ever spent.
And Ensign: sorry for loss of Leonard Nimoy. That must have been hard day for you. Oh, and hi Adam: you want that gas money yet? :)
Peace ☮️
Prays and Peace to the family and freinds and anyone on the ride or in line that day or at the park. Very tragic... Sad situation. I think everyone has their opinions on this. Life is strange in many ways,God bless everyone effected by this.
Very tragic and sad all around, but adds to my take on attached people are to tech gadgets. An individual climbing a fence in a restricted area willing to risk his safety for a cell phone is mind boggling. There was a another sad incident not too long ago where a young woman was walking down a sidewalk texting, then stepped out onto the street and was hit by a truck and killed. All this media keeping us so connected, we're actually disconnected.

Not much new here, but just that the family is dealing the best they can with the whys.

A little late to this topic having just returned from my trip, but I was in the queue when the accident occurred. Once the ride was announced closed, everyone emptied out quickly and the situation was very much under control. When it opened up the next day, the line was as long as it normally is this time of year and anyone I heard talking about it agreed it was no fault of the park's. All in all it appears public opinion, regardless of any media hyperbole, is situated in the right place, although I can't possibly hear everyone's take on it. Renaming the new attraction would seem pretty ridiculous, or perhaps I just really like the name Valravn.

But once we passed the lift hill I could feel my body pulling away from the back of the seat.
That didn't happen. The forces of the ride would most certainly keep you in the seat even without a restraint unless you actively push off of it.

During the transition from lift hill to pre drop there really isn't much force on the ride yet. There are however a couple seconds where gravity can pull an unrestrained top half of a human body (which is hinged at the waist) forward causing it to leave the seat back prior to the forces of acceleration acting upon the rider's position on the train. I've noticed that depending on where I'm sitting I don't really feel acceleration counteract gravity until about the middle of the first drop.
But gravity doesn't usually pull things forward... and the force of deceleration on the train required for your body to move forward at all is not going to be felt at the top of a lift hill or going down a drop. Don't forget that gravity exerts an equal force on everything when it does pull (down) so restraint or no restraint you would still be in your seat at the bottom of that hill and most likely at the end of the ride too. Take a ride on Witches' Wheel next time you visit and don't hold on to anything or put your feet firmly against the footrest and notice how you just barely start to feel like you're moving forward at the 3:00 position before you level out. Rideman has a great article on the physics of that ride that apply to several other rides at the park too.

Don't be afraid. Ergo, the reasons for the duplicative measures.

Here we go, I guess legally common sense doesn't matter anymore.
Expert says Cedar Point, not roller coaster rider, bears much of the blame in park death
One of the worst articles I ever read.

Holy bleep.
Parks need to place warnings on the perimeter fencing that explicitly describe the hazard and indicate that entering the area under the ride can result in death.
Excuse me?? I don't need to know what the danger is! If you tell me that there's a danger on the other side of a fence and not to enter, I won't enter.
Guess they need to make signs more like this..
Danger
This is a roller coaster. It has trains that pass through this area at a high rate of speed.
If you are in its path, you will be hit by a train that weighs X tons or kicked by one of its riders.
You will likely die on impact.
Your family and estate will be sued by the rider who now will likely suffer damage to his/her leg.
Other dangers include being struck by a falling object from the ride vehicle.
A police officer may, upon his/her sole discretion, utilize a taser or other weapon to disarm you.
Aliens may fall from the sky and abduct you.
It might rain. You'd get wet. Should've worn a jacket..
You have been warned.
