Looks like the Breakwater manager was right on the money!
Are they building cabins in its place? Because that was the part of the claim I found implausible. Also, the manager claimed this was happening 2 years from now, so not exactly "on the money".

Cabins provide much less revenue per square foot of land than multi-story towers. I find expanded cabins and or RV pads implausible as well.
Edit: However, relocating the cabins to that space allowing for a CPS expansion could be a possibility, maybe even with some large elements from elsewhere not currently being utilized. How to staff an expansion is whole other discussion. Still so soon after the current expansion seems odd.

I wrong to think that most resort guests prefer to stay at a hotel? That, and if they can double, triple, quadruple the number of beds by building a hotel then by all means.
I certainly prefer to stay in a hotel instead of the cabins, the cabins never had much of an appeal to me. I totally agree that they can offer and sell much more space if they build a new hotel instead of just putting more cabins in. Ouimet said that with the resort improvements they will market CP to a much larger audience for vacations than they have in the past. It would certainly make sense to maximize the number of rooms they can sell given the probable higher demand.

than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Yes! Just read the article on the hotel. It would be amazing to finally build a hotel or lodge that actually operates while being clean and promoted better. They need to clean up that section of beach though. People can swim down by breakers, but not SS. We went to the park the one Saturday and walked down there. It has become a wetland!
I doubt we’ll see another hotel. Sandcastle, had large rooms, big windows, balconies, etc. A good remodel would bring it up to pretty much anything you build now amenity wise. The Bon Aire and older breakers sections had small rooms, small windows, no balconies, etc so that made sense to replace (well in addition to them being 100 years old)
I think a telling sign is the demolition Breakwater Cafe. Just a small amount invested and they could turn that into the finest restaurant on point with the open views. Makes me think they have no interest in operating another full hotel in that area.

I also am curious what expands here..Given it's nature outside the park, even CP Shores mind you, I'm curious what gets developed here. There's not a fully clear cut path to connect to CP Shores so I don't see that as an expansion -- yet. However, this would be the most logical expansion idea I think, especially given the success CP Shores has had, and the parks annotation of how well the year was regarding it.
On the flipside, the park now has the cabins / lodging right in front of it, so I wonder if this maybe will be expanded to offer more spaces to stay as well. Given the breakers expansion, the lodging put in a few years ago, and the park's constant comment about growing the park into a resort, multi day destination, this makes the most sense.
I personally would love this to turn into something other than lodging / guest experiences. That land is IMO the prime area for anything big. It's right at the end of the peninsula, excellent views, and isolated from most of the parks. I could see this turning into something premium / upscale, and I hope it does. I'm all for even premium lodging (like a villa, large personal / private suites, etc.), but I'd rather see something anyone could enjoy and draws any park guests -- not just those staying on point.
Only time will tell, but exciting development nonetheless.

Am I the only one that could see a Great Wolf Lodge type hotel (sans water slides of course) go into this space? With the connection to the rustic feel of Lighthouse Point cabins, it would be a prime opportunity to add that sort of hospitality experience.
It would differentiate from the other major hotels and could provide an updated experience to what Sandcastle Suites was. Just a thought.

If they follow Ouimet's stated desire for Good, Better, Best hotel options then I could see something like that with a higher end flare to it. Maybe not quite Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch but something along those lines.
