They also do control systems for a lot of rides.

Imagine that :P

I deal wi9th AB every day, Ben. I found it interesting that they also play a part in my off time.

Sorry you disagreed.

Oh, I didn't disagree. It's just why reinvent the wheel when they can use whats already in place to do the same thing, really? hehe kinda interesting to think of a ride as a big robot.

I assume they're probably one of the top companies for robotic control systems. I don't really know, actually.

But yeah, I wasn't disagreeing or being super sarcastic, sorry if I came across that way.

That's cool, Ben. I'll probably be buying (or at least getting quotes for) Allen Bradley parts today at work. They are one of the top companies for robotics, as you mentioned.

I just wish I was buying coaster parts instead of water jet parts...

Chances are they are pretty much the same parts. Allen Bradley and Rockwell Automation do alot of bussiness in the Industrial Controls market. Some people won't buy from anyone else. ;)

Yep, I buy a lot from Rockwell, too. Nordson is another one. Then you've got the whole fluid power group, which I'm sure CP uses (TTD, TC, etc).

What about the advanced RollerCoasters such as Top Thrill Dragster, Millennium Force, Magnum XL 200, and Wicked Twister? What kind of controls do they use?

You'd be surprised at how many things around you use Allen-Bradley controls and Rockwell Automation software to program/monitor it.

*Works for a distributor, lots of fun!

Pre-Cedar Fair the park had over 700 acres, roughly 120 of them between the developed parks. I can't imagine that that is to different today. What is Cedar Point, 364 acres?

Big Dipper is the only ride in the park i would think is untouchable. It defines the park, imo.

Don't trains dislike elevation changes? I can't see that as a feasable solution; however a renovated and updated monorail would be nice as a people mover. Or a three stop sky ride skirting around the lake. The real drawback to the sky ride is its tendancy toward closure, unlike a monorail.

Well the monorail only goes in one area, it really doesn't take you back to the park like the Sky Ride does. I think that's a good idea of having the Sky Ride go across the lake. It would be taller than Cedar Point's because you have to have the supports in the lake.
