According to some sites and coaster lovers, there has been talk about a possible ride removal although there hasn't been any talk of which one would be removed. Has anyone else heard anything, or is it just speculation. I personally like the the park the way it is. I think if they throw in a hyper coaster like Magnum in there, the park will do even better.
I'm sure that they've evaluated the cost/ridership of every ride in that park, and if it makes sense to ditch one, I'm sure they won't hesitate.

What ride would be a good canidate though? I can see something maybe replacing the Big Dipper. That ride is old, but it's the smoothest woodie at Geauga Lake. Villian Hurts like crazy, I haven't experienced the Raging Wolf Bobs this year yet.
The Big Dipper is an "ACE" coaster, thus probably will not get removed because of its status. I heard that they are considering the monorail (not sure of what its name is though).
I definetly think they need an Intamin Hyper Coaster or a B&M Hyper coaster.

The Monorails name is Belaire Ecpress. And I serioulsy dont think that they would remove it because it is ohio's only operating monorail. I could be wrong though! *** Edited 7/12/2005 10:14:54 PM UTC by cedarpoint24/7***
A big rumor is that they will remove the Belaire Express, since it will only circle around a concrete slab, formerly Hurricane Harbor, and they will replace it with a new monorail that will encircle the lake to WWK.

Top Thrill you beat me to it. That monorail was to showcase the the waterpark but it isnt going to be there anymore.

I think you grossly overestimate the value of the label. The Hotel Breakers was on the national registry of historic places, and there ain't much of that left.

History (only existing whatever in Ohio/ACE status) won't matter one whit if a ride has low ridership and high costs. Breakers was de-listed, if I recall correctly, getting all the preservationists up in a snit---I remember seeing some historical preservationist site listing HB as a prime example of the importance of government preventing private property owners from changing historical buildings.
(For the record, I'm a leftist pinko commie liberal, and even *I* think that's silly.)
If the "Coaster Classic" status was really important to parks, the trains on rides like the CP Blue Streak, PKI Beastie, etc. wouldn't have been updated like they were.
For what it's worth, my vote goes to the removal of the Monorail and/or Mr. Hyde. The Monorail is nothing more than a moving observation platform...which will have a stunning view of a mudpit after WWK Phase II starts. And we all know of Mr. Hyde's problems and it's history. A long shot would be the log flume. It's not much of a layout is starting to look a little shabby. Perhaps that could get an overhaul much like the flume at PKI did??

The log flume is starting to look shabby? It looked shabby in the 80's.
The monorail is basically a dinosaur. I think they have to hand-make parts now because they can't be bought. A decent transportation system in the park is a great idea...but this monorail isn't it.

A new train or monorail or something that went around the park would be a great idea. I can't even imagine how much money they're spending on those boats... they're huge! The gas consumption has to be ridiculous.

Sky ride over the lake is my vote. If they are running only one boat and you miss it, it's a long wait. I think if you removed the Bellaire Express monorail I think they would have plenty of room somewhere to put in a station on the GL side of the park. And they could put the WWK station in Phase I behind Liquid Lightning and Splash Landing near the entrance.

I think a steam engine train going across the lake would be sweet. It's route could start from lets say somewhere by head spin, then go over the lake and then would stop somewhere in Wildwater Kingdom. I also like the idea of the sky ride like what Cedar Point has. I think that would be neat looking down and just seeing water. Im with you guys too that the monorail will be the weakest link at the end of the season. My question has to be what are they going to do with the tiny waterpark hurricane Hanna? I was thinking that whatever is there will move over to Phase II for Wildwater Kingdom next season.
Well i belive one of the new items for phase II is a wave pool, so they must be either removing and/or relocating whatever is left there. Which makes sense. What I fear is, if the park make a nice turn around and each side of the park starts holding it's own, it would be very easy for CF to split it in 2 again. Make it so you need a combo pass to go to both sides. I hope that doesn't happen.

(I not sure how to include your message in this, I am new to forum posting).
I probably do have a major misunderstanding of ACE. What exactly does an ACE coaster status do for a park. I always thought it was an honor and a hasstle. Kind of like the National Historic Landmark stuff. Once you have one, you need to follow all kinds of rules because it is protected. Is ACE associated with them at all?
Thanks for the feedback
