Ride relocations- Demon Drop?

If I wanted to do some damage at Cedar Point I'd drive around Perimeter Rd and explode my truck under Magnum, right next to MF, crash it through the gate into Mean Streak or park it 10 feet from Breakers.

I don't think that is cause for concern with whether or not they build in the parking lot.

I was looking at the map today, and I saw a huge empty space behind the Rip Cord in Challenge Park. I'm sure something is there that they just don't show on the park maps, but I don't know what's there. Does anyone know about this?

I believe that the area behind Ripcord really is empty. Still, they will most likely use that land for further expansion of Soak City.

Removing WWL is not an option, maybe reconfiguring. Its a family ride that isnt too splash oriented, a ride that grandma and the grandkids can ride together. It needs to stay.

Not only is removing WWL an option, but I'd say it's an virtual lock. Sooner or later (probably within two or three years) they are bound to add another water ride (probably a coaster). When this happens, WWL will go away. *** Edited 7/28/2004 1:56:32 PM UTC by Thonolan***

not likely, as he said its a low splash low thrill ride. They won't replace it with a water coaster because not everyone likes coasters. I think WWL will be there for many years, or torn down and replaced by a newer flume ride whose configuration will better fit the future plans of the park.

Like JuggaLotus said, the only way they'd remove WWL anytime soon would be to replace it with a more modern, themed flume ride. Do I hear Slash Mountain anyone?!?!

Slash Mountain? Is that for Halloweekends?

Woops... I meant Splash Mountain! Slash Mountain for Halloweekends, clever, I can see it now...

If you take a look at the Mean Streak it seems like you could fit a pretty good sized coaster in the middle of it. If you have some elements of the new coaster that could go through the Mean Streak structure (with structural modifications to MF) I think it could be done.

Oh, but where would MS's massive unused ques and DJ booth go that sit in the center of the structure ?

Troika, did you ever work on STR? To maintenance, it was a constance source of irritation.

No Dutchman, I was just a kid when I rode it. I was probably 9 years old when they tore it down. I just remember it being fun.

That DJ booth is never used anymore, and they should get rid of part of the queue. If you would complete that queue now and fill it with people you would have a line wait of at least 31/2 hours waiting time. They need to remove an hour and a half of queue space. Another thing, when was the last time you saw the DJ Booth with a DJ? It's been a while for me.

A few flat rides can sit inside MS.

I like the idea of off site parking garages with shuttles to bring people in, get rid of the paved lot and move the entrance of the park to back by the toll boothes and build about 40 new rides in what was once the parking lot. hehe Anyone got a half a billion dollars to spare?

I don't think you'll ever see parking garages.

I'm 54 and for the life of me I can't remember what Shoot the Rapids was. Could someone briefly describe it and it'll probably jog my memory.

Shoot-The-Rapids was a flume ride which was removed after the 1981 season to make way for White Water Landing which sits on STR's former location. If you do a search in the old forums for "Shoot The Rapids" there is some interesting discussions and comments from those who worked on the ride (both opts. and maintenance) and those who remember it very well.

I say tear down CCMR, WWT, and Antique Cars and build a HUGE wooden roller coaster. It would be perfect right next to Mean Streak! Or just move the "Lemon" Drop and build something compact there. *** Edited 7/31/2004 2:22:38 AM UTC by Huggy Bear***
Great, that's what we need- another Mean Streak... actually, we don't.

I wouldn't mind seeing WWL and the antique cars replaced by a nice, mid-sized wooden coaster (but that won't happen, either.)

What I think might actually happen is WWL being replaced by a water coaster (this would be great).
