The Wings have made the playoffs for 21 straight seasons, and 26 of the last 28.
In the 80's and early 90's, they were often a frustrating team to love.
Always had a soft spot for the Wings. Steve Yzerman is my favorite hockey player ever, and Pavel Datsyuk isn't far behind.
Not sure if I'll be able to get up to Cedar Point this year, so it looks like Luminosity might need to wait until 2013, with that new B&M! :(
I Finally was able to see Luminosity on Friday night and loved it! I don't know why others on here didn't like it, but the point is Cedar Point did an amazing job with this new show. I would say I loved everything about Luminosity. They played songs that made me want to dance or sing along with them.
I finally saw it on Friday night as well. The singing was awful, with the exception of one of the female leads who was awesome. So awful that most of my group left less than 10 minutes into it. I doubt they're really that bad, but the music they were singing to was definitely not right for them. The crowd didn't seem to really get into it at all until after the fireworks when the DJ started playing.
Other than that, I thought the overall production was very impressive. Easily a million times better than the old night show ever was. I would have liked to see a little more of the water drums that weren't used until the end of the show. Something to note that I know people have complained about on here- they do give the performers a proper send off at the end of the show now instead of them just disappearing.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you

Some of that has to do with the fact that they are mixing the show from behind glass. Pretty much the opposite of what you do when mixing live vocals.
Well, I saw Luminosity for the first time with a couple friends on Thursday, 7/19. Unfortunately, I can't say it was a hit with any of us.
Let me start off by saying that I wasn't satisfied with our seat to give it a completely fair review, but it was probably a better location than many had along the midway. All the tables were open right next to the Pepsi Luminosity VIP area. We were the first table, directly next to the VIP area, in front of the Good Time Theatre. It was a pretty good view from the seat, but the sound system was obviously designed for a front/center position, as it sounded a bit muffled.
I hyped up the show through the day, knowing my friend's girlfriend loves dancing, bright lights, and pop music. She was apparently not impressed, as she said, "This is like really stupid and boring" half way through. I found that a whiny and confusing thing to say, but my other friend at least had some reason, "It appears they spent all the money on the stage and lights, leaving nothing for acquiring talent; the singing is awful."
I knew there was going to be auto tuning, but not THAT much. We all found it really corny if not a bit funny. All it did was contribute to washed-down, generic singing that left much to be desired. I personally thought the stage and lights looked really nice and crisp at night though. But, during the day, the whole area looks junky, so I'm not sure I'd count the nice night appearance as a win. Overall, while I didn't feel as negatively about the show as my friends, I felt pretty indifferent about it.
I wanted to stay to give the dance party a chance, but they wanted to go immediately at the end. We ran over to Maverick for an awesome walk-on night ride though, so we still managed to end the night on the perfect note.
I saw it for the third time last night (7/20). The female vocalist I saw on the preview night that was in the video I shot was not there, unfortunately. My concern is that it doesn't seem better after six weeks. I still think they should ditch the relatively down tempo nonsense about New York. It's jarring. The dancing is a lot tighter, at least.
It seems lower volume, and not in a good way. I also noticed, as someone said, they're mixing from behind glass. That's an awful idea. They need a roll up door or something. A better mix might compensate for performance inconsistencies, since there is a lot of backing vocal.
One thing I do like is that the lighting and pyro builds throughout the show, and the ending is all a technical performance, essentially the same every night. I'm surprised the performances don't consistently match the staging. We've has some awesome bands and singers in the Red Garter over the years, and that's saying a lot given my distaste for country certain years.

In my opinion, this should have been put in the old Chaos location. I have actually not seen the show, so I cannot speak of that, but after being around a few times this season, I'm not too fond of the location. I realize that's where the previous show was, but it just looks entirely out of place.
Promoter of fog.
I just hope Luminosity doesn't roll out to all the Cedar Fair parks in similar form. And if it does, please don't let it damage the beauty of parks like Kings Island or Canada's Wonderland.
I have this horrifying image in my head of Kings Island Luminosity being plopped right by the Eiffel Tower, with those junky light towers everywhere.
Actually the show was designed and installed by an outside company (who works very closely with Cedar Fair) but is fully cast and crewed by Cedar Point Live Entertainment. CP Live E also picked the music and choreographed the show.
In the coming years this space will be utilized more and more as an internal CP show and the only outside company involved will be for the fireworks.
