I finally got a response back from Peggy Bertsch stating that they have experienced some issues with the seatbelts and that all the MF trains were going to be refitted with new seatbelts at the end of the season.

When this happens, those of us who are not large and those of us who are too large will be separated, and this thread will cease to exist.

I am gonna party hard!

I have heard that from Peggy MANY MANY times. And the only belt they change are the test seat belt and the old ones on the ride.

Generel, I do understand that they are large people out there. So are you saying that a 36 inch waist is large?? Honestly as of right now we need to know how large is large (waist wise).

Even if the issue is large people, America is getting larger. If 1/3 of your customer base wants more accomodating rides/belts, it will make sense to give it to them.
And CP wonders why attendance is dropping. They get paranoid and cater to kids=large people dissatisfied=declining profits(=bad midwestern economy, at least according to Big Dick)

Went to CP friday and tried MF again...

Last time I was OVER 2" short, no exageration.

I went in, although it was a tiny fight, was able to buckle and pull an inch of slack...

They need to fix these belts!

They suck. And I can ride.

I understand the fact that not all seatbelts are the same, but if you want to fit go on a diet. Unless you have a disease or other disorder that makes you gain wait, all you have to blame is yourself. Sure the seatbelts are a little unaccomadating, but it is your fault that you are overweight. I know this sounds rude but stop trying to blame your problems on something else.

BTW, I am overweight and I have accepted the fact that it is all my fault no one elses. If I can't fit on MF then I should be upset with myself, not Intamin, Six Flags, or CP.

If you can't spell, who's fault is that? :)

I spell perfectly fine. Maybe I got unaccomadating wrong. Yeah, I forgot an M.

I still fit. I rule.

If you are over 40 inches consider a workout routine.

General D.

I am 36. I am a bit fat but there is none around my waist where my pant's go. Hmmm... Oh well, I still fit perfectly fine.

General D.

So you are saying that even a skinny guy that has big bone hips should also be in this so called workout routine?

Example on what I am saying. My HS quarterback was 6'3 220 waist size 44. His family just had big bone hips.

I myself at 1 time was in a 46 and still got on TTD. But I'm in a 40 to 42 depends on the jeans and still can not ride but can fit in the test seat. I have been in a 42 almost my whole life and never ever had trouble till a few ago.

So now since I'm over 40 I should do a workout routine. I guess also people that are in a 36 who as a tight fit or that can not buckle should do this routine also? And please tell us "FAT" pople about this workout routine you have in mine.

You don't have to be FAT to have a work out routine. Even if you are not fat, you should still workout. It is a very healthy thing to do. I ride my bike every day. Whether it be 1 mile, or 20 miles. I ride.

Fat Skinny Tall Short....the fact is that this all stems from some idiot standing up on the ride to begin with. If people would follow directions - the shortening of belts most likely would not have happened.

I see both sides of this arguement.....

The seatbelts were shortend to deter the larger individual from riding. However, I find that some individuals that can't ride MF - fit just fine on the Blue Streak which has been around for decades....

I think it needs to be across the board - make it a standard for all coasters to have the same size belt.

As far as the ever expanding America - I do not think coasters/cars/chairs ect need to be designed around their waist. I did it - drop the fast food and take up a treadmill.

Well I guess I do have a routine. Its call me job Its about a mile long building, carrying dies to my press that are anywhere from 20 lbs to 200 lbs. I have lost about 35 lbs since I started back in june. So as of right now I'm around 260/265 with a 42 waist.

Yeah, so that way, we'll have the people who can't ride anything at all, and we'll have even more complaining.

It wasn't the rider's fault on the accident. He had Cerebral Palsy and really couldn't read the directions and warnings. Also, the ride ops let him on even though he was too big. Also, I agree with the point that we shouldn't adjust the standards for larger people. Additionally, I understand the problem about not all belts being the same but I think I'd rather not be able to ride then ride unsafely and end up seriously injured or dead.

You might want to get your facts straight before acting like you know what you're talking about, olesko. The man that fell out of S:RoS did not stand up. He literally fell out because his lap bar was not down far enough and obviously his seatbelt was not buckled.

I think its idiotic to say the same restraints should be on MF that are on Blue Streak. Blue Streak already has excessive restraints as it is. It operated for decades with a single seatbelt and lap bar. The restraints now are more for keeping people from trying to get out than actually being ejected from the ride.

I can see both sides to this argument. The seatbelts should all be the same length. If you fit, you fit. It's not fair to fit on one train, then try to ride again and get turned down on another one. As far as the belts being lengthened, no. Those are the rules. If you can't fit, get your butt on a diet and exercise plan. That's what I did. A couple years ago I weighed about 285. Now I'm down to 235 and counting and I feel alot better. The belts should, though, all be the same length.

look im new to the boards but i have read all the posts but u all r missing the big picture all rollercoasters give off a force to where ever ur sitting. like in the middle of coasters u get air time in the front and the back u dont get most u get more of the stomach feelling. so in the middle of the train u need more safety. look on other rollercoasters that u have been on u will notice i have been to cp many times and u can notice theses things on there coasters. expecially on magnum every seat have a diffrent tight ness on lap bars and belts

now to know if they shrank the belts (hypothetically) u have to sit in the same seat, same row on two diffrent trains i have read that peopl have sat somewhere else on 2 diff trains so there assumption does not count.

now as for dragster the belts fit easyer because dragster does not produce the force of air time so there is no need to have the belts any diffrent size on that coaster

WOW. I just spent more energy trying to decipher that post than I spend tugging on the MF belts to get a half inch of slack.
