Rant : Fix the bloody seatbelts!

So this past Friday I managed to persuade a friend of mine to come with me to the park. She hadn't been in 10 years or so, so she was looking forward to it immensely.

Our first ride on MF was great, and she had no problems getting the seatbelt to fasten & have requisite belt showing. The second time she could not even get it fastened, and they booted her from the ride.

I've personally never had a problem with the belts (other than the fact that the capacity has evaporated since this issue surfaced); so I've never paid much attention to it. But I find it completely ridiculous and absurd that 2 years down the line they STILL can't get the belts all the same length. This is a TRIVIAL thing to do - cut the belt to length X and stitch on line Y.

C'mon folks. It aint hard!

If your a girl and you can't fit on Millennium, I think it might be a sign that your a little heavy.

Now starting pointless threads is one thing but saying something like that is ridiculous.

You should probably delete that post.

Ride on, MrScott!

I'm just being honest

Interestingly, I went to CP this summer and rode the back car of MF without any issue, but, got in the second to last car on the yellow train and had to squeeze myself in. I barely made it, and I think that was the shortest 1/2 of slack I have ever seen, but they let me ride.

I was surprised at the difference from seat to seat. How is that possible?

There are 2 types of computer users in the world; those that back up often, and those that have never had a hard drive fail.

I dont think it would be very sanitary if the seats had blood on them

Women's bodies are designed differently then men's at the hips. Just because a woman can't fit on MF doesn't mean she is "heavy".

Go away.

Worst of all, the test seat appears to be the seat with the longest belt. I have 2”+ in the test seat, but when I rode Friday I had barely 1/2” on the ride itself. Doesn’t take a genius to figure out that’s real a good way to piss off your guests.

You know, if she had not fit in the test seat, she would not even have worried about it.

The issue is not the length of the belt, but the inconsistency from seat to seat.

Hey, nice name asshat.

Does anybody want to take bets on which banned member this is this time?

I also wasn't able to fasten my seatbelt this year and I was able to fasten the seatbelt on the test seat. I got on TTD with out any problem at all.

Rode the red train first, plenty of slack, then rode the yellow train, could barely get the belt fastened, come on CP get all the belts the same size.

Honestly guys, the seat belt prob has been like this for 2 yrs now. EVERY ride op will tell you to your face and say the belts are all the same to the test seat. There has been MANY times where I fit in the test seat and the ride op from the test seat was on the loading dock and remember me but couldn't let me ride. Except for 1 time where she let me ride with NO slack even tho she saw me pull 1 1/2 inchs of slack on the test seat. This was on MF.

TTD never had a prob with and prolly never will.

So reguardless of all the complaints CP get it will never ever change unless they go with OTSRs restraints on MF in which would suck. So even with a 40 inch waist line I'll will not ride MF this yr in which sucks. But I guess thats life.

I had trouble with the belt the last car first row. I think it was the yellow car cause they had the red one sitting on the other track. I went sat sept 9th,2006. You are right when you say that the belts very from different cars. And no i am not fat either. We had a guy at the coastermania q&a that was complaining about the belts on TTD. They didnt tell him anything hardly do to the fact that he didnt make the ? clear. Another person made the ? clear and got the reason why. But i think they just need new seat belts on Force. Sounds like they are shrinking. Could be a weather issue do to the rain and cold. But like i said before you can blame the seat belt rule on Six Flags due to them not checking the belts on Superman and letting people ride who are not able to do to not being able to fit. They did say that one side the guy was in wasnt checked from the riders. They had there lap bars up and not checked as well.

People are always siting the fact that this is only a problem because of Six Flags. I can remember four different cases of people coming out of these types of restraints on Intamin rides. One when Superman first opened (the guy didn't die), one on Perilous Plunge at Knotts Berry Farms, one on some European shoot the chutes water ride (can't remember the name), and then the latest on Superman. Also, if I remember correctly, the person in Europe wasn't even a very big person.

...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!

Hey, nice name asshat.

What exactly is an Asshat?

And yes if you are in shape you should have no problem riding unless you are just freakishly tall and strong.

America is getting too fat, and when they can't ride a ride they blame the industry for not being accommodating. Quit eating all the fried chicken on the buffet and start taking a jog in the morning. Blame yourself first before you try blaming others.

Hey, nice name asshat.

Every time I hear that word I laugh like a lunatic. Why am I mentioning this? Because I just shot iced tea out of my nose.

It's always time for a Cedar Point road trip!

America is getting bigger, and being a ride op I would hear it from plenty of people everyday. Everytime we would have somebody try the test seat we would say that their ride is still not guarenteed. Us ride ops just do what we are told and relay rules, its not fair when people come on here and complain about a certain ride op or us in general about relaying rules and messages. If I came into your work and I tried to do something that wasn't right you would stop me, and thats what we do.

Honestly, not ONCE have I ever had a ride op tell me that my ride is not guarented at all. I'm not bashing ride ops. I'm just sick and tired of being told I can ride and get up there and can't. and then being told that the test seat is the same to all seats.

And to Mr. Adam loves the roller coast,

I have seen people who are not fat but skiny like size 36 waist that can not ride or haves a tight fit. I have also seen a body builder get kicked off due to the belt not buckling on MF, but he did fit the test seat. So is not all FAT people that complain, is even smaller people. The belts has to be change or something, but this will be a ongoing war with Intamin and CP.
