Questions for past/current employees

In the past, you had to buy the whole season/platinum pass with the meal plan. There was no way to attach it to the ID.

If you guys are considering this option, i would wait until after you process in, as I'm hearing rumors that associates will not be allowed to take advantage of the meal plan this season.

Not sure why you would want to spend $130 to have a meal plan added to your employee ID or the price of the pass plus a meal plan. You get a discount at all food stands which pretty much takes the price down to a normal cost. Pop is $0.25 with free refills in the Bistro and Stockade or whatever they call it now and break area vending machines are $1 for a 20 oz. bottle. There were employees that had season passes before they were hired and went ahead and got the meal plan. But you have to have the time to be able to wait in line at a food stand or use it own your day off. But they have been cracking down on how the meal plan is used.

I like Chick Fil A and Chickies and Pete’s. But I kinda forgot about the 20% off discount. Maybe the meal plan isn’t worth getting.

^^ with the crackdown about the season drink cup in 2016, I'm surprised they haven't cracked down on the meal plan yet. Probably just a matter of time.

Yes, you're issued two sets of uniforms, consisting of 2 shirts and either 2 pairs of shorts or a pair of shorts and pair of pants, your choice. From there you can exchange one uniform at wardrobe every day so you don't have to worry about washing them yourself. I always trade stuff in until I get uniform pieces I like then wash them myself.
Uniforms must be turned in when you process out, or you will be fined for whatever isn't returned.

I never washed my own stuff. Always traded it. They could always get them clean. Amazing. There were several days I just changed clothes right there.

What would’ve happened that is making them crack down on drink and meal plans?

They just don't like us using discounts meant for guests when we already save a lot of money in the break areas and get the platinum pass discount

I would highly suggest not getting the meal plan if you're planning on trying to use it for your breaks. They changed how it works last year so that your platinum pass MUST be scanned by one of the admissions scanners in order for the meal plan to be active which means if you are an opener you will be late for work every time doing that. This was done specifically to discourage us from using it

You are completely free to use it in the park on your day off, just make sure you come in through the normal entrances instead of the employee ones

I was the exact opposite. I never liked the smell of the laundry soap they used, so I would wash my uniforms myself.

On the other topic, in regards to the meal plan. Even on your off day, you may use Bistro / Stockade (do they still call it that?). Just make sure you have your ID when you are in street clothes using the employee cafe. There will also be days where they cook too much food for a picnic, and send the leftover food to the Bistro and you can get a dish of pasta for $1 or chicken for cheap.

When I worked there, there was a pamphlet at HR and housing where you can get various discounts around Sandusky.

A friend of mine wants to work at the barnyard at Cedar Point. What title would she apply for to try and get a job there.

@CoasterKyle I originally wanted to work there too. It's actually an outside organization, called Honey Hill Farm. Your friend would have to apply there. https://www.honeyhillfarm.net

Working any job at CP will give you a great opportunity to break through any shyness. It will be great experience for you long term. Life is about dealing with all kinds of people. I started working & living at CP 2 days after I graduated high school. Go for it and enjoy it!!!

John's right. I worked the summer of '80 at the old Frontier Inn. I was exposed to all manner of diversity and am the better for it. By way of example; this was the first time in my life that I interacted with LGTB's. I am the better for it.

Funnest job I have ever had. I did have to work hard.

Hey everyone, this is my first year applying to work in the park. I applied for a ride ops job, and got an email back from Shaun in rides saying to call his office for further consideration for the job. I called the number and got his voicemail, and I understand how busy they are so I will be calling back tomorrow, but if you get an email back from your application saying to call, is it a good sign you will be offered a job? I am trying to figure out if I will be staying at home and can take another class or two over the summer or if I will get the opportunity to work at CP. Im 21, have had multiple jobs, have good grades in college and never been in trouble. Any past employees care to share some insight? Thanks and I hope to get to meet some of you in person this summer while working!

If you get his voicemail again just leave a message, the managers are in and out of the office a lot. A lot of people don't hear back from rides at all so take that for what you will. Good luck and don't be nervous if he wants to interview you!

Congrats! kpr66 is a pretty cool guy, you'll enjoy working with him
