First year ride ops get some say in what kind of ride they want to work but the managers will generally just put you wherever they want

I was asked kids, families, or adults. I said adults, specifically the higher thrill crowd. It came up at some point in the interview that I am a coaster enthusiast and that I get sick just looking at spinning flat rides. Seeing as I was aware Katy Brisson was area 1 I was hoping for either Gatekeeper or Raptor. Getting Raptor I could not really ask for better as a first time seasonal employee

I don’t know for sure but that may be a little much to ask for a first time employee. Because first of all you would have to get interviewed by the person in charge of the specific section and I’m sure returners fill those rides pretty quick. But again, I can’t pretend to know too much.

Does anyone know when Character talent usually start hearing back as to whether they got it or not? Also, should I be applying for more positions then just character talent? Can I let them know that that's my number one but I'm willing to accept another position?
Alphagam, I know some of the Live E staff travels to SETC, which is in March. I don't exactly remember when I had my first phone interview, or my second call (which turned out to be more formalities, getting offered the position at the end of the call). My eventual roommate interviewed at SETC and got hired, though. So don't be surprised if nothing happens until March and the big auditions they have listed on the website have all happened.
I thought you could indicate 3 job choices online when you apply and they didn't have to be in the same department.
@Jacob, Honestly as a first year getting specific rides is all luck. Even if you get interviewed by Shaun (Millennium's area) or Debra (Maverick's area) you could end up getting put in Area 1 because they have to hire evenly.
My brother for example got interviewed by the area 1 manager Katy but got placed in area 3 last year. I can't speak for the other areas but in my 2 years Debra hasn't put very many first year ops on Maverick because it's always highly requested by returners, although being interviewed early now instead of closer to April probably gives you a better chance of getting rides like that

Since it's a new season, you'll have to do a new one. All paperwork gets redone every season

@Rusty
Honestly the gas station went too bad. You definitely get used to it. The worst part was all the grease and oil stains we'd get on our uniforms! Also we get breaks from the cars since we have to rotate to Wave Swinger :)

Are the uniforms recycled over the years? In other words, do you get assigned a uniform and turn it in at the end of the season?

Yes, you're issued two sets of uniforms, consisting of 2 shirts and either 2 pairs of shorts or a pair of shorts and pair of pants, your choice. From there you can exchange one uniform at wardrobe every day so you don't have to worry about washing them yourself. I always trade stuff in until I get uniform pieces I like then wash them myself.
Uniforms must be turned in when you process out, or you will be fined for whatever isn't returned.

For anyone who has worked rides, is it difficult? And are wooden or older coasters like Blue Streak or Gemini more difficult to learn how to operate than more modern coasters like Gatekeeper?
Is there a way to buy and attatch an all season dining plan and drink plan to your employee ID? Or do you have to buy a season pass in order to get those.
