Look at TSO. You're not lying.

Meant to ask this earlier; what is TSO?

Promoter of fog.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra. They have done a couple successful "Christmas" concerts and any deviation from those sets is met with disappointment.

Maverick since '99

We saw TSO here in Rochester the day before Thanksgiving. The musicians were amazing, the effects were awesome, but the whole show was kinda bizarre with the Christmas story... We left about halfway through because my wife was falling asleep and my son wasn’t interested.

ROUNDABOUND.

Apparently Mystic Timbers valleyed today during WinterFest...

ROUNDABOUND.

Apparently they tested it with snow accumulated on the tracks. I don't think the cold was the issue, considering people have reported it runs very well in purely cold conditions.

CP Food Blog posted reviews of trips to Winterfest at CF parks.
Carowinds has some amazing food offerings. The variety, seasonality and presentation all look very well done.

The KI review was pretty bland in comparison to Carowinds. Hopefully, someday, CP food services aspires to be more like Carowinds and less like junior high school cafeterias.

Just got back from Kings Island and I have to say I was completely blown away by the experience. The lighting was phenomenal and the atmosphere and attractions were great. To the food comment above, Carowinds has always had superior food offerings but I’m not sure people visit Winterfest with higher expectations for food than any other day of the year. They did add the buffet which was quite good and the seasonal offerings were good as well. A huge hit for Kings Island for sure. The park was packed all weekend, staff was very attentive and friendly.

Exactly my experience. Awesome time.

Looking forward to hitting up Winterfest this coming weekend or next week. I have yet to hear a bad thing about it. I almost stopped by Saturday, but opted not to add 2 hours to my drive home from Indianapolis.

Ditto on the KI Winterfest as well. Had an amazing time despite Mystic Timbers not running, nothing else to add to what was said above.

I still maintain that this event won't happen at CP anytime soon. There are so many indoor/climate controlled additions that would need to be made to make this type of winter event enjoyable.

Agree with the other comments, KI hit a homerun with this. Outstanding event. Really impressed with the shows, especially Charlie Brown's Christmas Spectacular. The decorations and lights were beautiful and the light snow on Saturday night added just another layer of beauty to the event. I thought the food I had was very good. Good meal of ham and sides at Tinker's Spielzeug Haus aka Festhaus and a good burger at Reds Hall of Fame Grill and both were on the meal plan.

This is really a first class event. If CP doesn't have a Winterfest event, I think the KI event will be a new tradition every holiday season.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Went on Saturday with a friend...was great! It looks like they've been doing this for years.

I can't see CP even bothering to try this...besides not being able to find staff, the park just doesn't have the structures needed to make it nearly as nice or as impressive as Kings Island can.

I'd definitely go back in the future.

I was telling my wife that this could be a family tradition, it was that great. I didn't think there was a single thing they could improve on as far as our experience was concerned. It's like they thought of everything. The heaters next to all of the tables. The ice carving, the shows, lights, themeing for all the different stands and buildings, etc. It was perfect. And I honestly didn't feel the closing of Mystic Timbers was even a big deal. We rolled with the punch and just moved on to whatever else there was. We were just completely enamored with the whole setup.

Also, the funnel cakes and turkey legs were on point. And the deal for $11 on hot chocolate with free refills? Way better than spending that on soda, and I think that has to do with the fact that it wasn't a cumbersome cup and we could take it anywhere we were going.

And Pete hit the nail on the head when it came to that light snow. It made the night even more surreal.

I will say, one thing did puzzle us. Was anyone there just before 5 at the front gate when all the EMTs were there? We walked up and it was a little bit insane as we were trying to make our way toward the gate. Just curious if anyone is in the know with what happened.

Saw the EMT's as well, but didn't stick around to gawk. It looked like the situation was handled.

I can't find the exact press releases, but what details/numbers do you think Kinzel and Co. looked at to make the announcement that Winterfest would be discontinued? I remember them using the old decorations for a Christmas-Gone-Evil Haunt (which I always felt was tasteless- like drinking orange juice after brushing your teeth).

Anyway.... its a shame that we've gone all these years without Winterfest when clearly they've had a successful run this year. So happy they've brought it back.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Sandusky. January/February came early this year.

I wonder what level Snow emergency this will be ?

Hardly any snow but that's not the issue. What a said earlier what would be the issue is in prime form today, intense cold winds off the lake. On top of the cold temperatures, pretty right up against the lake, the winds are just intensely cold. Any part of the park like the Gatekeeper area that is right up against the shore like I said earlier, I can't honestly see being that accessible. Midway would be fine but still a cold wind chill to deal with.

There was a level 1 for Erie County this morning for some minor blowing/drifting snow.

Looks like really cold for Friday and Saturday, 7-8 F’ Real feel temperatures, on top of the 4-6” snow the weather service calls for Wednesday-Thursday morning.

Brrrrr

Quite the contrast from the forecast for KI.

Realfeel temperatures for winter by Accuweather is just a variation of the wind chill, which is pretty much a BS temperature. Only exposed skin is affected, it's meaningless if you are properly dressed for winter.
