I'm eyeing gong on Wednesday next week, it's cooler so than the surrounding days so i hope the GP would go the warmer days. Plus it's Winterfest, I want winter like weather.

Ugh. Even at the holidays, that stupid phrase comes up. Every single person that steps through the park gates is General Public.
I went to Winterfest at KI last night and it was incredible! I thought they did a great job with decorating the park. I got the really good hot chocolate in a Beast mug, and 3 different kinds of fudge because all the holiday flavors were so good it was hard to pick just one. And I got 3 rides on Mystic Timbers and saw a couple shows. It really felt festive there.
While I would like to see CP attempt such an event, I don't think they could come close to matching the KI experince. Without factoring in the weather next to the lake, CP hasn't had a spectacular track record when it comes to decorations and theming. And they lack a huge fountain pond at the entrance which was to me a good part of the scenery. And they don't have an Eiffel Tower to deck out with lights to look like a huge Christmas tree. They would have to use Power Tower or TTD to do that at CP but it just wouldn't look right to me. What they probably could do is really deck out the Frontier Trail with lights, I know they did something similar in the past. And I know some buildings would require heat, which there aren't many heated buildings in the park.

KI Winterfest tomorrow for me, and my first trip ever to KI.

Different fun, Winterfest is a lot of fun also.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
The Eiffel Tower at Kings is incredible. I'm in line for Mystic Timbers, I think the temperature is 32 degrees, truly will be a freezing experience.

We just got back from Winterfest and it was awesome. The park wasn’t very crowded and the weather, while cold, was beautiful. It was fun.
But still, a visit in summertime is more fun.
I picked to go to KI yesterday specifically for the weather, not below freezing til the very end. But it's WinterFest, I wanted the cold weather aspect. The light around the park are dazzling, I really enjoyed the 12 Days of Christmas Train ride. The lighted Eiffel Tower always was a joy to see. I'm sure with this being a colder day in the week and being a weekday, it's not as crowded as it is in the weekends, able to see several shows fine, got 4 rides on Mystic Timbers.
Certainly didn't get a full impression of KI but on another regard, like Carowinds, KI has better restrooms than CP, wonderful to have paper towels to use. And the food portion with the meal plan, 2 slices of pizza and breadsticks, whoa!

My company gave us the day off today, so I was planning on heading down there to experience WInterfest today. However, it's raining here in Cleveland and the weather does not look much better precipitation wise in Mason....so not 100% sure I'll make that trip today. Granted I could detour to the AIr Force Museum in Dayton (but I have already been there twice this year).
Watching the web cams last night it did look busy to me. The line for the train looked long. I assume there are lit displays along the route the train takes? Also, any changes to music in the shed on Mystic Timbers?
The train features decorated cars and a light display depicting the twelve days. The line for it is long and they’ve developed a new, although temporary, entrance and longer queue.
Mystic Timbers is the same.

As far as snow emergency levels, I can't remember Sandusky ever having a level 3 in December, can anyone else remember such an event?
A little behind on this thread, but saw your question. Major December snowstorms in Sandusky are rare, but not unprecedented. The December 22-23, 2004 winter storm event dropped 12"-18" in the Sandusky area. It is widely considered the biggest snowstorm outside of the Blizzard of 1978.
SPOILER ALERT REGARDING THE SHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The shed is the same except for a few Christmas props. The audio/visual effects have not changed.
Spoiler alert:
Kings Island posted that the rides would not operating tonight due to extreme cold. My guess is since the rest of the final weekend promises the same temps that Mystic Timbers is done til spring.
Spoiler alert:
It's weather like this which makes an event like this such a crap-shoot in Sandusky. I don't even want to get my mail.
Promoter of fog.
I went to Winterfest this past Friday. Mystic Timbers was not open, but all other rides were. The park was amazing! Beautiful sights, fun shows, and fun activities. It gets an A+ from me and hoping to make it a new tradition as long as they keep doing it. Oh, and I feel like if there wasn’t snow everywhere, then you wouldn’t get the full experience. Luckily we got over 2” just in the time we were there.

When I went a few weeks ago, while it was a bummer that Mystic Timbers was closed possibly due to the snow, I definitely enjoyed the way everything looked so much better with it snowing while there. The reflection of the lights was beautiful. It would have been nice for it to be in the 20's though. We froze our butts off.
