Cedar Points’s weather turns extremely cold on the peninsula. It’s a very cold wind chill. Most people never experience the CP peninsula. Pay a visit to just look from the parking lot and you’ll notice the difference from mainland temperatures. Not many indoor places to hang out unless they open more than Midway Market. Nice idea. Too far for most people.
I didn't read all 11 pages of this thread,so forgive if me if someone already post this.
Years ago Cedar Point tried a Winter Fest.
As I recall they didn't have any of the coasters running, probably because of the weather.
They did have a place to get your picture taken with Santa, sitting in a Magnum car.
it wasn't an event you'd travel for.
I don't think they did it for more then 1 year.

No they didnt do anything like what WinterFest is at other parks. Cedar Point tried a low budget "Christmas in the Park". They had some souvenir shops open, sold hot chocolate, put out some decorations and did sleigh rides. Cedar Point got out of Christmas in the Park exactly what they put into it, which was virtually nothing. I went to King's Island's WinterFest last year and it was truly amazing. They did a total makeover of the park.
Canada's Wonderland will be hosting WinterFest in 2019 and it had been rumored if Canada's Wonderland ever got WinterFest, Cedar Point would be up for discussion. If you look at the weather averages between Toronto and Sandusky, they are very similar as far as temps and snowfall. I think Cedar Point's lack of a large population base and lack of indoor facilities is why the park will ultimately not do WinterFest.

And about 13 of those 6.1 million showed up at the last CP winter event.
I think you are being generous in your number.
And that's very true Pete. Who knows what may be in the works. Hope you had a good boating season! Our boat was pulled out of the water today.

Downtown Toronto to CW = 20 miles. Downtown Cincinnati to KI = 24 miles. Downtown Cleveland to CP = 62 miles. Downtown Detroit to CP = 120 miles
Cedar Point, with not having a scenic street type setting plus located on a frigid peninsula will never draw the crowds that either of those parks can. The best they could do to offer anything close to what many of the other parks do is to somehow, get you back through the Frontier Trail and Town.
They would need to rebuild the main midway with some sort of street scene or village in order to appeal to most. I wish they would do this anyway since the CP main midway setting is just a mish mosh of buildings just thrown wherever one might fit and with whatever style they felt like at the time. To make it worthwhile, they would need to have it set up so you can walk, easily, from one shop to another to buy crap.
I went to Kings Island Winterfest on one of the days it snowed and was 15 degrees out and still loved it. There were also plenty of places very close by to go in and warm up except for near The Beast area. Once you leave the main midway at CP, you'd freeze to death...lol
