PKI to get TA2K IN 2002? Change CP Plans?

Rumor Over At Coasterbuzz Is That PKI MAY Get A TA2K In 2002 For It's 30 Year Anniversary...Wondering If This Will Effect/Affect CP's 2002 Plans IF (strong if) They Were Also Planning On Getting A TA2K In 2002...Comments?

mikey :)
P.S. Has There Ever Been A Year When CP and PKI opened the same ride?
No They wont there having legal problems with son of beast it will be held off. Cedar Point will get the TA2K.

Thank You...
What kind of legal problems? Has that SOB been smoking the "mary jane" again? Damn that boy. Anyway, seriously, what kind of legal problems have you heard about? And why are you so certain CP is getting the TA2K in the first place?

hail to the king, baby...
Because the structural design with the builders wasnt made with grade A wood the builders are fighting saying that it was made correctly. The changes have been made to Son Of Beast. But they are still arguing in courts.

Get a grip. PKI can't stop building and compete. They didn't stop this year, and they won't stop next year.

Rumor says that according to an article in WIRED, Cedar Fair is in talks with S & S about a TA2K. HOwever, I have not been able to find this article and if it is true, that does not mean CP. I would think that this would be a better fit at KBF.
I've read the article in Wired. It did not say Cedar Fair is in talks with S & S, it said that CF reps were at the S& S facility checking out the ride, that's all.

I really don't care. There are plenty of other coasters I want over a TA2K...a big looper, a flying coaster, a great wooden one. If it happens, great. If it doesn't, oh well.

Not only was CF at the TA2k demo, but I would bet good money that reps from other parks were there. Obviously Paramount was.

I hope PKI gets one. It's my home park I've been going there since before I can remember, and SOB kind of disappointed me. They need something big to make them more than just another park.

Mmmmmm...that smells gooooooood...
CP has a much better tradition than any other park. For many people and families, they will always come every summer. Summer after summer.

GO SHAMROCKS!
GO WOLVERINES!
Tradition...That's how it was with Kings Island...that is, before Paramount took over and raped the park. It hasn't been around as long as CP and since going there, I like CP best, but Kings Island is still a great park. And when you think about it, they aren't that far off from the record since they'll be getting their 13th coaster this year, and probably #14 next year. I think PKi really wants to compete and take a little fame from SFWoA. But to show that my faith lies elsewhere, this will be the first time in about 6 years that I don't get a PKI season pass, and the first year that I get a CP one. Am I betraying my home park? Maybe. I would just rather ride the Gemini than PKI's new kiddie coaster. That is, until next year.

:) :) :) :( :)
I didn't want to open a new thread to announce this but on July 2nd we will find out what PKI will be getting. The attractions are unknown currently with the possible exception of the INFERNO ride. I just wanted to let ya guys know!

TOP 5 CP COASTERS
1. Millennuim Force
2. Mantis
3. Raptor
4. Mean Streak
5. Magnum
Thanks! July 2nd...isn't that EARLY to be announcing the 2002 additions, or is that typically when parks announce? I thought it was usually late August..

mikey
Millennium Force was announced like July 27th, and it was early for an announcement. I wonder why PKI is announcing so early, maybe multiple coasters? (And they need the time to constuct them)

MF was announced on July 22, 1999.

But that was the exact same question I thought of when I heard the early date...

MF count: 20
Yeah, I knew it was somewhere in the 20s. :)

I hate to say it but Cedar Point seems to be really slacking! SFWoA has built 5 coasters in two years! PKI is practically building a coaster every year. and CP is building one every couple of years... why??? I mean even if Cedar Point builds kiddie and family coasters, whats wrong with that?
For the most part CP relies on quality of their coasters, and not as much on quantity, making CP superior to other parks.

Lets join forces to save STEUK'S (at least the sign)!
Yeah, SFWoA may have built 5 coasters in 2 years but I believe 3 of them are clones of coasters from their other parks.
