Photoshops / Mock-ups

http://www.rcdb.com/ig1574.htm?picture=5 Same thing here on Xcelerator... its just perfect design engineering that keeps it sturdy.

"If it looks good, you'll see it; if it sounds good, you'll hear it, if it's marketed right, you'll buy it; but... if it's real, you'll feel it."

OH NO! That wouldn't go over well with me. I'm a bit of a scaredy cat...even though I get on the big coasters.

I'm the same woman who prays before she gets on the TTD!!! Scares me every time, but I can't stop getting on it!

The track supports itself. The box track has structural capacity. Just like on WT.

Oh. And I guess it wouldn't really be much 'weight' on the track anyhow, right?

^That's the beauty of the "box" track design. It's pretty much self-supporting to an extent, and it holds itself up pretty well.

Edit: XCelerator has since had a horizontal support welded between the A-frames. I guess earthquake codes or something had them do that. (?) *** Edited 8/25/2006 3:34:23 AM UTC by e x i t english***

Intamin just used the same "technology" that the Romans used thousands of years ago when they built bridges and churches. ;)

^ Exactly - It's just an arch :)

BUT, if you pulled out the crest of the hill [cough] "keystone" [/cough] then the structure would be WAY weaker. The weight of all the track can be thorooughly dispersed between the different members.

Little Leslie, I am like you when it comes to heights, but xcellerator was so much fun, I forgot all about the lack of supports. As a matter of fact, I like xcellerator far better than TTD.

When my wife and I were out at Knott's in 2004, we rode it at least 5 times.

Platinum has it's perks. So does living exactly 97.5 miles from King's Island and Cedar Point

Apparently, someone has never seen a picture of the St. Louis Freedom Arch.

^Actually, I was thinking the same thing, so I won't bet against you on that one! :)

Take care and God bless!

What's interlocking cork rolls?

RTurbo: I know, I hate heights- but I just can't stop getting on the TTD & MF. I can't not do it! :-) They just keep calling me. But I don't put my arms up on TTD. I sit there screaming bloody murder!!

I put my arms up on MF, but I'm hesitant on that first hill!

BTW: Are we all at work now??? LOL

I just called them cork-rolls because its not quite a corkscrew and its not quite a zero-g roll.

Hey! Something like that has to be going on Maverick! There is that subliminal "M" again! ;)

Take care and God bless!

Except Maverick's "M" is an "M" no matter what angle your looking at it from. Scream's "M" you have to look at it at just a few different angles to see the "M".;) *** Edited 8/25/2006 5:55:17 PM UTC by Tonyblackjack***

You know one thing thats confusing me is how CP called this ride amazing and unprecedented. There have been many, many links to other rides that have the same elements or at least very similar. So far this ride looks fun, but it's nothing that new and amazing. Kinzel said he always wanted to do something like this, but like what, like a lot of other good rides(made a point to use good not great). Rita and Stormrunner are the main rides this one is compared to and they aren't even in the top ten on roller coasters. Could it possibly be Kinzel's dream to go out with a pop? I think there is still much more to come. Maybe it's just me, but there is no way this is all the ride is going to do. It just doesn't add up.

Anyone have anything, but flames, to respond with?

When did CP call this ride "amazing and unprecedented"?

If you're referring to the blog entry, the amazing and unprecedented refers to Monty giving the T's the P2007 plans, not the actual plans themselves.
