Out of this world Subway prices

^ I am the complete opposite of you two. I have been to Disney, and I do not feel the need to go back until my son is old enough to appreciate it. I would take Cedar Point over Disney any day. :)

At the same time, I do not get to the park as nearly as much as you two do. I get there maybe once or twice a year. I bet if I was able to make 20 trips a season, I might get burned out and find interest in other things.

Compared to the Tigers game I was just at, CP's food prices are slightly better. Detroit's chicken finger basket was a dollar more than CP's and was worse quality. (yes some place has worse quality than CP)

Ome thing I never understood about going to a tigers game, is why a little ceasers $5 hot and ready pizza costs $14.

Comerica park is the only place I know of that a beer actualy costs more then a margahritta(sp).

Pretty soon they will be charging an arm and a leg for food, in the park.

I think they are already to that point.

Regarding comparison of CP's prices to sports events - there's a slight difference in charging high prices to a captive audience over a period of 4 hours, versus 13.

Exactly. It is a lot easier to hold out not eating for 4 hours when all you are really doing is sitting. A lot tougher to hold out 13 hours when doing a lot of walking. That is why Kinzel mentioned that the guest has gotta eat, and so you can sock it to 'em.

...And I don't know why Kinzel and Co. believe it. The guest does not have to eat. The guest has the option of not eating in the park (which is what I typically do), leaving the park for a meal somewhere else, or simply...and this may be the worst option for the park...cutting a visit short.

I have to think that the insane pricing is impacting the company in the form of falling per-caps and possibly in a falling length of stay. Those are areas they can measure. By now it is probably also hitting them in the form of lost return visits and lost referrals, which show up as declining attendance.

For the past 10 years I have rarely eaten in the park anymore. When I have gone alone or with other people we have always bought food with us. Also it is nice to get a break outside of the park when you have that secret parking lot near the top secret entrance. Overall the park only makes about 20 bucks if that on me per visit.

I see people kind of forget Panda Express / Chik-Fil-A

They both are "fast foodish" places that have prices that are a lot more reasonable then Subway. It is as if we are penalized for eating healthy......

Are you kidding me? Chik-Fil-A is completely ridiculous. You're still going to pay ten bucks for a crappy deep fried giant McNugget, fries and a drink.

I'm glad someone else agrees with me about Chick Fil-A. Outside of the chicken noodle soup (which I don't even know if the park serves) I've never been a fan of anything on their menu. And I'm a person who loves my chicken.

Panda on the other hand is awesome. All things considered, I can live with what they charge given the quantity and quality you get.

I think a dollar an inch is perfectly reasonable pricing for Subway.

Just as I was reading this post, an ad for Disney's free dining plan poped up on the side of the screen. What I made today at work in tips would not even cover the cost of a Subway sub at Cedar Point. I would rather spend 5 bucks and get a footlong for both me and my daughter to eat off. Thats a better deal for me.

I think you might have missed the sarcasm train on that one.

I think Chik-Fil-A's prices are just as bad as Subway's are.

How about the Midway Market all you can eat buffet. The prices are just 4 bucks shy of 20 dollars for a dinner buffet.

Interesting story to share that's pretty close to fitting in this topic. Yesterday I was at Wendy's with my girlfriend, and we ran into her friend's grandmother. She started telling us about the family trip to CP they took a few weeks ago, and the first thing she mentioned about the place was "My god, it's too expensive to eat there anymore. We had to load all the kids in the cars and drive into town because we couldn't justify paying that much. Next time we will remember to pack something."

It's sad that in recent years, when talking to the average Joe about their trip to the park, it seems they typically complain about high prices or a ride being broken before they say anything good about their trip. Not sure if that's a reflection on the park or a reflection on society's recent trend of focusing more on the negatives in life than the positives.
