Man they skip on the toppings, and charge you three times more. I don't even think KI's subway charges that much.

The prices at the subway are insane, that's for sure. But it was my previous trip that really put the straw in the camels back for me. I had decided (knowing better) to buy a chicken finger basket at Round Up. Even though I hadn't bought any kind of basket meal since early 2008, I thought I'd give it a try seeing how I really USE to like the chicken fingers. But $14 for a basket of 4 skimpy chicken strips, an alright amount of fries, and a pop has defiantly changed my mind. The cashier even gave me a "Sorry" when I stood starring at the price display.
Never again!

KI's price is $6.75 or $6.95 for a six inch sub. Just think if a big family had to eat, they would pick the Subway outside the park, not inside.

I refuse to buy Subway inside the park. There are a handful of other Subways in Sandusky. Get a cooler, buy your food before you get there and save some $$. Judging by the amount of people I see eating in the parking lot these days, this seems to be an option more people are choosing. The couple of times I have stopped in to look at the new Subway in Challenge Park it was empty.

I had been hearing the same rumors, so I think my friend & I will be doing a grocery run to Meijers and taking a cooler to the park. I know it's an amusement park, but that's just crazy.
Tell me about it. Considering the prices that Cedar Point is charging lately, by comparison Disney looks like it's running things on a McDonald's style dollar menu. Not sure where CF found the balls to think they could pull this kind of crap, but if they honestly think they're going to make any sort of reasonable profit on this, they're insane.
2005 - Snake River Falls
2006 - MF, WT, CCMR (and pretty much everything else...)
2007 and beyond - Disney

Small margins, but make it on volume.
Small volume, but make it on margins.
Cedar Fair has apparently decided that option B is the way to go. And people must still be buying the food because we haven't seen any price cuts.

I've never tried the Subway at CP. I have a Subway right down the road from me and don't really care for that place too much.
Considering MF cost roughly $3,791 per foot I would consider myself lucky to pay $13.00.
...Nevermind the fact that one is made of steel and the other...burnt Italian herbs and cheese....
45 to 310 down 300 at 93 angled 80 then 169 into 182 for 6,595 since 2000 = #1
Ah but that foot of MF steel is reused by thousands of guests each year making the footlong cost per customer less than a buck. Your expensive foot of "delicious meat filled sub" (insert laugh track here) only gets used by one person.
Thousands? Try an average of 1,666,477 million! That makes the cost per foot per customer $0.0023. :)

WOW, I guess supply and demand means nothing to anyone in this business world. Or at least to those complaining here. The arguments about food prices seem to pop up every year. My thing is if you don't expect them (the costs), your obviously don't visit the point too often. Let alone any other entertainment venue. They are a business, not your local savings store (leave your coupons at home). And they have a much larger bunch of overhead expenses which I'm sure nobody cares about. Cedar Point is not the mall.I personally think the prices compare well to other venues of entertainment. And still are a dollar or two cheaper than anything six flags charges. Comparing disney to CP isn't a fair comparison. Disney isn't a regional amusement park.
I'm sure these same people complain at a tollway food stop when the dollar menu is $1.39 or again the footlong ISN'T $5. The key is the customer base if different. The key is if you don't want to pay, plan ahead. Bring your own stuff like others have said.

Please. First, the argument that Disney and CP aren't in competition is totally moronic. CP is competing with Disney, AMC, IMAX and Microsoft, among countless others, for your entertainment dollar.
Second, its not just that the food prices are high. Its that the prices are high and the food is horrible. Not bad. Not below average. Horrible.
You have a seriously whacked out perception of value.
Brandon
I'm guessing Cedar Point missed your marketing memo. I know that disney markets nationally, while CP more regionally. Most that head to Disney are on a vacation including resort style accomidations for the family, not a one day trip. While I know some do vacation yearly at CP, but most are one day trippers. The advertising I see is about the rides and attractions and little about the resorts.
While I agree that they are both fighting for the same dollar. When I think of Disney, I think about entertaining my kids. When I think of CP, I think about entertaining ME.
As to the quality of food, I've seen both good and bad. I've had the meal that seems like it sat for a couple hours. Plus I've also had the food fresh. I think what's been missing is the consistantsy of the product. When prepared correctly, the food isnt bad at all. Sometimes it's even pretty good. Yes,I'm speaking as a former foods employee. but I'm also agreeing that it could be better. The sit down resturants are normally only a couple of dollars more than your normal hometown locations.
And finally MY perception of value. When I go to an amusement venue I don't expect a value buy. While I do hope I like what I buy, I never expect it to be cheap. But everyone has a different set of taste buds. Something you don't like, somebody might love.

At the prices they charge for the food, "consistantsy" should NEVER be an issue. But, so long as idiots keep ponying up the dough for it, CP has no motivation to make improvements.
Brandon
I also expect prices to be higher when I go to an amusement park, but they have gone above and beyond that and the quality of the food is well below what I would pay for anywhere.
$20 for a footlong sub combo?, $9 for a slushy?, $23 for a pizza?
I would expect to pay $3-$4 more for something at a park.....Cedarpoint is charging $7-$8 more than what I would pay outside the park.
Are people that stupid? Everytime I turn on the Tv, there is a subway commercial with that annoying $5 footlong song. And then you go to cedarpoint and see that they are $13+ for a footlong. What sane person would pay that? They use the same veggies that all the other subways use. They have overhead just like all the other subways have.
Are they magic subs? Do the subs have mystic powers?...I guess so, they make the money dissapear out of your wallet.

Why is it that no one wants to compare CP to Disney? Guess who bailed on closing weekend last year to spend a week at Disney World instead? That would be me. CP lost, the rat won. That sure sounds like competition to me.
We'll talk more about this at the end of the year, when the results talk about lower occupancy and falling per cap spending. Count on it.

Not to mention that it is actualy cheaper to eat at disney, than it is to eat at cedarpoint. And the food at disney is wayyyy better than what cp can dish out.
