I like your concept but a dark ride in an infield of a coaster would be quite an eyesore.
There's going to be a building on the inside of RMC Streak anyway. It doesn't really matter if it's a Haunt attraction or a full season dark ride.
Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!
Based on the interview someone posted, it sounds like some parts of Frontiertown will get some attention. I would be pleasantly surprised if they put some work into the Palace, maybe some updates to the food venues (Chuck wagon, Palace, Last Chance are all connected in the back). I don't think we would see something on the scale of the Ghost Town rehab over at Knott's, but it would be nice to see.
On the ride side of things, not sure how you could fit this theme-wise, but a Gerstlauer Sky-Roller. (I have said that plenty of times though on similar threads)
Another possibility for a dark ride in Frontier Town is to demolish and rebuild the buildings that contain Last Chance Saloon, Lusty Lil's, Buckaroo's Burritos, etc to be a true two story building with the ride housed on the second floor like Ghostwood Estates at Kennywood. This why you're hiding a ride building without really changing much of the aesthetics of the park.
I don't think anyone is suggesting that they get rid of Lusty Lil's, (which I will forever refer to as Golden Palace...), but I'd like to see it expanded with more space and a larger show. And I would prefer it not be one of those typical theme park pole barn, church pew affairs, but leave it saloon-like. Tables, booths or banquettes, and decent table service. It would serve the area well, (as they should probably expect an increase in foot traffic in that corner), and it would add greatly to CP's show lineup.
Frontier Town is probably my favorite area of the park given the layout. A small refresh wouldn't be bad, but I do echo that I don't want to see it radically altered. I don't really want to see another big ride there and most the rides there I don't really want to see disappear either. The Antique Cars back there are imo the best of any in the park and fit in best where they are.
I think they should add more Frontier-like buildings and do something similar to Ghostown Alive at Knott's. But agreed, no major rides unless they can fit in a dark ride or log flume that would fit with the theme and actually be pleasant to look at.
