Odd pointers to more than L-TH-BR?

Like Wicked Twister. Wicked Twister could have been built to bring more people to Cedar Point than SFWOA. I mean in 2001. People were probably thinking, Hey! Lets go to SFWOA they got an Impulse Coaster. Now they can come to CP with a double twisting Impulse coaster...

Why would someone build a coaster 400 feet then slame into brakes?

Simply look at Superman : The Escape.

I think Cedar Point is going for the record here. Faster & Tallest Roller Coaster. Perhaps if it is an Inverted Top Hat it could also be Tallest Inversion.

I think your right. I think they are going after some records here. I'm just not going to rule out the possibility of it being the longest. Even with the evidence that's there now, I'd be more surprised to see a L-TH-B than a long ride.

The Fast and the Fearless

You mean Cedar Point is going to break records with their new coaster??? They've never done that before...sigh.

Anyway, even if the launch track is mysteriously hidden at the point, there's still not enough 'regular' track onsite right now to complete a 400-ft tophat. And if those are hidden too, then who's to say there's not even more peices of track 'hidden' at the point?

When we went on Sat, it seemed like they had a LOT of room to play with. I think a launch-top-hat-brake idea is possible, but unlikely. There are a ton of footers there, and I don't think they are just for a launch-top hat-brake.

Maybe there are more pieces in the new warehouse they built next to the Breaker's Express. But I think I'm with those who think it will be launch, tophat, brakes. It'll still be a HUGE rush.

My take on L-TH-BR. If it becomes this I WILL be very disappointed. Why? Because it's lacking elements folks, which is the key to making a great ride. This is one of the reasons Raptor is so popular at the Point. It has such a diverse array of elements. Even Disaster Transport would have more elements than this new ride! Remember how everyone was saying this would be a larger version of Xcelerator? Well, it looks like it's going to be less than Xcelerator. Give me Xcelerator any day over the new L-TH-BR!!!
A variety of elements makes for a good rollercoaster, yes. But, Cedar Point is building a "major thrill ride" for 2003.

sigh. CP never hesitated in calling WT a coaster, they won't hesitate in calling this thing a coaster, either--no matter how long it is. The only reason they're calling it a thrill ride is because they don't want to reveal what it is yet. Whether this ride is 1,000 ft long or 10,000 ft long, CP's dubbing it a 'thrill ride' at this point has nothing to do with the ride length or amount of elements.
To quote the original MF promo video:

Then they also say "Beyond coaster...giga-coaster"

July 11th: Korn, Puddle of Mudd, and Deadsy

You know, nobody argues that Jr. Gemini is a coaster and that is included in the "coaster count" as are "jr" coasters at all other amusement parks.
I'm not arguing if this is a coaster or not. I'm saying not to expect more than L-TH-B.

what if the layout were to have a really long trim brake run after the top hat to trim off alot of the speed. that would allow alot to be done because there wouldnt be the need for huge overbanked turns or camelbacks. it would also explain why there is all those straight track supports after the top hat. also, if you look at some of the pictures of the track, you will see a piece that makes a u-turn that has a bit of straight track inbetween the turns. this piece cant possible span the gap created by the two lines of supports currently on site so this suggests that the final brake run will be closer to the station and there will be some sort of trim brakes where the current supports are on the "down" side of the tower. maybe im reading too far into this, but, then again, maybe im not
I don't think this ride will have any trims. Intamin isn't the type of company to add MCBR to their rides.

I wonder what is going to happen once the offseason comes around. That webcam is going to get so many hits a day.

Turkeys, the only animal smarter than man

if you're going to trim off speed why build something that is going to eventually reach a higher speed. that just seems redundant. its like saying, well lets build this 2000 ft office building and we'll put super fast elevators in it so it can go from bottom to top very quickly and vice versa, and then only use the first 40 floors leaving the rest empty. crappy analogy but thats my take on it
smash, I think barry was talking about trimming the speed AFTER the launch, not BEFORE the launch.

-Stephen

im talking about that too but after re reading my post the analogy makes no sense. oh well better luck next time :-/
I can just hear the promo video now...
"Be catapulted at 115mph, faster than any other coaster in the world, straight into a vertical climb of 420ft, taller than any other coaster on the planet! After cresting the top, you are forced face-first to the ground, and then, at the highest velocity of any coaster in the universe, you hit the brakes!"

Actually, that sounds pretty cool!! I would love for this thing to be more than L, TH, B and maybe it will be. But the evidence currently certainly doesnt support more right now IMO. I cant wait to ride it either way.

LOL Forcedude04 that was original. its like " speed, height, terror,!!!!! brakes...."
