Odd pointers to more than L-TH-BR?

Spent the entire weekend at the park (being one of the "inhabiatants" of the Distster Transport haunted house - did I scare anyone here?!?! :) ) and noticed that in the Corkscrew line, there are some orange flags and a torn up section of grass in the middle of the cue line. Also noticed that in the parking lot next to Corkscrew, there are some assorted building materials, but also a few of those rounded "footer" rebar that are sitting in the main construction area. I'm probably connecting things that aren't related but thought I'd throw it out there. That Corkscrew line is much longer than it ever needs to be again, and the positioning of the "dirt spot" is pretty good for a support of a large overbank that could fly over the midway and end in the parking lot, where the extra footer metal would make sense. Just a thought. Anyone else notice these?

What I have noticed is that there are still a fairly large number of the bolt assemblies that go into the footers, and parts to make more, on site. Doing a quick count yesterday of the completed bolt assemblies, and parts laying around, I came up with around 40 footers that still need to be installed. That may be of some significance in answering the question of the ride being only a L-TH-B.

but Ohio has Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay.
It's great to live in Ohio!

Speaking of which, why would anyone want to design a ride that builds up that much momentum coming down a "400" ft Tophat to only then hit the brakes. Seems like a waste of a good ride element if you ask me.

I had been thinking about this latley and posted a similar topic asking if anyone had seen anything out of the ordinary near rides like th Iron Dragon. If there is more than just top hat (which I am hoping for) the element will not be in the same place as the current construction, the radius for a turn would just be too large.

I definetly think you are seeing what will be part of the new ride, anything been happening near PT.

There's no way CP would only build a L-TH-B. That would be a waste of time and space, and I don't think CP would do that.
broadhurst, I agree with you. Even though the new pic from PT totally suggests just a tophat, I still remain skeptical. I mean, even
Xcelerator had several more elements involved, and with CP setting a major record, and putting so much more money into it, I don't see them building just a tophat.
Also, you could think about it this way: CP is being sooo careful to make sure that no secrets about this ride slip out. However, all of the construction to date points to L-TH-B. This is a pretty big "secret" about the ride that has been allowed to "slip" out. I think that this could be intentional. (I don't know if that makes any sense to you but it does to me)
From what I've heard, the only good parts of Xcelerator is the launch and tophat. CP already has a ride with overbanks so why be redundant in that aspect?

I think the new ride would be awesome with some overbanks, because the overbanks would be much higher than the ones on MF. They will have two launching coasters, so why can't you have two overbanked coasters.
There is a big difference between a 215 foot, 70 mph double twisting inverted impulse and a 400 foot, 120 mph non-inverted rocket with a tophat.

I noticed that too but also most of them were only 4 or 6 bolts. I don't think that would be for a major support. The number of short stubby supports in the SC lot would back this up.

After my trip yesterday I'm afraid it's L-TH-B.

What person were you in the haunted house I went in it and it scared the crap out of me!

I know, lets build a 100+ mph coaster that goes over 400ft high so we can have the height and speed record again, have it launch....go up the tophat...come back down and slam into some brakes... that should get us the record back. Just doesnt sound like something CP would do to me. But then again, who the hell am i? I WILL NOT be disappointed if thats all it is, its a new coaster lets all be happy with whatever it will be and not be mad because its not what we want it to be. Just get in line and wait for your ride, who knows, it just may blow you away.

I would be a little dissapointed if Cedar Point went with the L-TH-B layout. All that speed slamming into brakes? Where is the fun in that? I am excited that Cedar Point is getting a new coaster, but I would rather wait an extra year and have some more elements to the ride. It will be interesting to see what Cedar Point does with this ride.
Tell me what you think of this, when you look at this pic...

the red tower side, do the gray supports by the ID line up with the down part of the tower? because to me they don't, proving the L-TH-B theory to be wrong, thinking there will be more than just that.

If your not having fun, what are you having?

Looking at that picture that Franklyn has really shows how big the area really is for any of us that havent seen it live. I didn't relize how long teh site is. If the station is all the way at the other end of the gray poles that will be a long launch.
That picture makes me think even more that it will be a straight run.... but we'll see.

Sorry, but to me it looks like they line up.

I'm with you CPTwister! Looks like they all line up to me. By the way, how did you manage to take a picture like that? What ride was that on?

I'm not really sure if this would be possible at the speed those trains would be traveling, but couldn't it sweep into an overbank or some other element before it gets to those short supports? It could then enter the brake run (which would be on those supports) comming from the island and going under that element.
