Not making it over the top(Something they could do about it)

But as for the speed- I talked to someone who worked it once when I was waiting in line, and they said it didn't always go 120mph. they had to put the speedometer to say at least 120 each time, because people would complain when it didnt reach that speed. So actually, it doesn't always go at least 120mph.

I hate to burst your bubble but the "speedometer" very often reads less than 120mph. If someone told you this, they don't know what they are talking about.

Wow- No need to get snippy... That is all that I heard one of the people that worked there told me. So maybe they changed it back then, or made it so it was almost 120. But either way, it mustn't always go 120 mph all the time. With the roll-backs, it could go less. :P It'd have to be a perfect machine to hit 120 exactly each time; which it obviously doesn't happen. I was just saying what I heard.

As for my spelling *shrug* typos happen.

Raquel + Cedar Point = one HELL of a time! :D

And also- don't be afraid of the drop. Enjoy that thrill and rush of being alive baby!

Everybody just chill and tomorrow will be one day closer to Cedar Point being open!

lol. :)

and by the way- i did spell the ''speedometer'' correctly. So i take back my typo thing, because it wasn't.

Yay Cedar Point! i get to go twice in less than two months coming up i think. Alright...!

ok

I've seen the speedometer go all the way up to 124mph.

Second, Why get rid of the roll-backs anyways? they are an awesome part of the ride, and Half the peop, I know would kill to get a roll-back. It's part of the excitement and novelty of the ride. Why take that away?

Well although there are alot of people who want a rollback (me included) there are about a couple thousand people who just want to ride it. As stated before, it would increase wait time and would decrease capacity if they were to program rollbacks. And I think the launches are preprogramed for the correct speed(someone correct me if Im wrong). That would mean that they would have to program the system to launch at a slow speed then back to normal. That would take too long to do.
So if you want a rollback, you have to hope for one.....that's all you can do. My opinion would be to try to get EARLY rides, or get on a cold day. Those (as well as others) are some ways that could increase your chances at getting a rollback........but even then, your chances are very slim. You just have to be luky.

I mean look at me, I've ridden it 113 times and I havn't had a rollback yet!!!!:(

I'll get one this year, I can feel it........wait, I said that last year.:)

There are a lot of things that dictate the train going over the top. Weather - wind - temp. Next the whole system, in the morning has to ramp up to full capacity, meaning there are a multitude of launches that makes the "system" ramp up to certain conditions and thence operate efficiently. Cold wheels/grease - weather - cold hyd. fluid - all these contridute. PLUS the loaded train really has an impact. The computer senses all this (train speed) then adjusts each time. Eventually you get a good successful launch. The train has to be at a near perfect speed to be able to go over the top. The window is real small because the radius is so small at the top. To slow - back - to fast uncomfortable/not good.

I have seen it even go 126mph before.

No, I am not making it up.

I believe ya. I've seen 127 and 129. Though I think it was just the speedometer acting up.

i still wanna be on the train that doesnt make it over...just think..two rides for a 4 hour wait

TTD 120mph's avatar

4 hour wait?! That kind of wait time is sooo last year and 2 years ago. :)

It's more like 2 rides for the wait of one.

alright here's a general question...kinda off topic...When i was younger i rode Mr. Freeze at SF over Texas. When you hit the vertical spike and begin descending i strained my neck when we flattened out (partly because of my fault) My head was pushed towards my lap from the gforces

...Just wondering if anyone felt any of the same thing i felt on a ride that's probably traveling at 120 mph + backwards, as you flatten out. As i'm sure you all are aware, the g's are intense going up, i can only imagine going backwards...

Any experiences going backwards are definitely welcome. I've always wanted to fall back just to get the extra acceleration once more! :)

There is nothing quite like becoming a human windshield on Millennium Force

ttd 120 thats what i meant...

OK, this whole 127 mph thing is bullcrap, I've been to CP many times and the highest I have ever seen was 123 mph. In addition, 123 mph is a very rare speed. It usually gets 121 and goes right back to 120. And, I have been on both Top Thrill Dragster and Kingda Ka, and you cannot feel the difference. However, I like Top Thrill Dragster better because of the lapbars.

127 is not bullcrap, I saw 128mph in 2003.

First trip June 23rd

Even though I had a rollback (It is sweet, I was a lucky one it was the right time and I had it the best row for a rollback). When you get in line you want to ride it and think it will be fun, but your hopeing for a rollback more. You see one while waiting in line and you say to yourself (If your a coaster nut) "That looks so awesome, I want a rollback." This puts more fun and anixety into TTD and that is why its more fun in my opinion. Also, if they did something so TTD didn't rollback at times it will ruin the tradition that TTD had sinc eit opened. Does anyone know if Dragster is the only one that rollback, or does Kingda Ka rollback as well?

Yes, as does Xcelerator.

I've seen it at least 128 before.

djDaemon's avatar

Likewise. Although, I remember reading here that they increased the "speed" on the readout, so that it wouldn't show anything below 120mph. Of course, I know this to be accurate, because I read it here.

Put some sort of thing to make it over the top would make the ride lose the feeling. You would have a acceleration at the top that wouldnt make the ride fun. IMO

MichiganStateFan, I went to Great Adventure last year at the beginning of the season and rode Kingda Ka. They had signs there that said it might not make it like at Cedar Point. However, I never saw it rollback while I was there.
