Not making it over the top(Something they could do about it)

They should put helper wheels on the top hat and make it so you get thrown over the top for great air time
Now there's a new idea that wasn't already said in the beginning of this thread and wasn't already shot down.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

I think we already discussed that in another thread. I think we agreed that they basically take the average speed. I am sure that all coasters have a range in speed, there are too many factors e.g.- wheels. wind. So it is really impossible to know how fast the train is going to travel everytime, it is just good to take an average.

Right. From my experience, 120 mph is low. In fact, I've never seen it go any lower than 122 and it was a rollback. Even if it was viable average, with speeds at 127+ you'd need other ratings at 113 or so to make 120 the average.

Sean:

Shot down?!?! I liked the idea!

Who cares? Can you really tell a difference between 120 and 127mph? As far as rollbacks, I think that for Coaster Enthusiasts the fact that there is a sign that says"occaisonally the train will not amke it over the hill" is part of the thrill or not. I mean every time i am in the launch position i can't help but think 'Am i actually going to make it over this hill?'

When I roll up into position I'm thinking "I dont want to make it over that hill!!".:)

No, I don't think you really can tell the difference between 120 mph and 127 mph. However think of it this way, Six Flags Great Adventure says Kingda Ka goes 128 mph. That makes the difference between 420 feet and 456 ft.

Yah, Dragster 120 ft. is definetly a bad typo *** Edited 3/18/2006 4:42:25 AM UTC by CP Tay Tay***

Summer was made for a Cedar Point day~

Dragster's 120ft!!!????:) lol

Actually from what I've heard, Dragster and Kingda Ka's speed and ascent up the tower, is the same experience. There's no real difference in feeling except, for one, you go at top speed for a longer period of time and up a 129ft hill that serves no real purpose cause there's no airtime with the brakes set where they are.

In truth, they're both great coasters that serve the same dish....just in different parts in the country.:)

To hell with an assist to get the train over the hill. I wish the park would in true Cedar Point fashion, install brakes at the top. How cool would it be to stop at the top to take in the view, feel the tower swaying, then be released. They put brakes on almost everything anyway, why not TTD? I wish I was on that train that stalled on top for 15 minutes last year.

That would be kinda cool. Speaking of getting stuck at the top, I think they should put in some retractable tires which only go up if it stalls.

I perfer when the train travels quickly over the top. There are better ways to sight-see than on a roller coaster.

Wow, the break idea at the top would be nifty. I think that'd actually be pretty cool!

But as for the speed- I talked to someone who worked it once when I was waiting in line, and they said it didn't always go 120mph. they had to put the speedometer to say at least 120 each time, because people would complain when it didnt reach that speed. So actually, it doesn't always go at least 120mph.

And I think it'd be cool if they could make the coaster to roll back each time, adn then make it over the second to 1. make hte coaster longer, and 2. imagine that thrill of falling backwards down a 420 ft. tower! I would think that'd be cool. Anyone else agree?

:D

Raquel + Cedar Point = one HELL of a time! :D

And also- don't be afraid of the drop. Enjoy that thrill and rush of being alive baby!

Yes it would be cool, but it would increase the wait time and decrese the riders per hour.

It's a 25 million doller roller coaster, not a observation tower... Observation towers are great for sight seeing, not a roller coaster.

And thats why they have Space Spiral.

True- but the space needle isnt in the same place, donesn't get the same view, and that is pretty boring...

but even if by a second you would stall, it'd give you a second to glance around you and actually realize how high you are. ;)

Who cares about your stupid spelling mistakes, your still comprehensible!! And anyone who gives a damn about typos needs to get a life!

With the exception being that the typo is either in a formal document or it's for school...
