... of course it is incredibly unlikely that CP would get a prototype coaster... they just don't do it...

Steuks!!
Wasn't Raptor sort of unproven? What about MF and the elevator lift, magnetic brakes, and all other 'prototype' aspects of it?

A bad day at CP is better than a good day at work.
I thought Batman The Ride came out before Raptor did, but MF was sort of a prototype.

I stay crunchy...even in milk!
Batman came out 2 years before Raptor. Magnetic brakes were already used on S:ROS as well as tiered seating. The elevator lift was the only thing really "prototype" about it. That and it being 310 ft. tall...:)
I'd really like to see the TA2K. I think it's the next "logical" step for the Point. I don't think a Floorless becuase of B:KF at Six Flags Worlds Of Adventure. A CCI is a possibility, but I am still hoping for the fast, sleek, TA2K...that would make the CP skyline look so awesome. Whatever they get (if it's a coaster), I would like to see it be painted silver...gives a little more color to the park :)

The Hulk takes alot of juice? It doesn't use LIM technology does it?
It takes a lot of juice because it uses "kicker" wheels much like the ones on Woodstock's Express' lifthill. The wheels grab a ridge on the underside of the train (I'm assuming the same one used for braking) and literally push it up the hill. A lot of electricity is required to get all of the many wheels spinning at the speed required.

If I recall correctly didn't someone at CP (I forgot who) say something like: 'If your wondering whats coming next just remember how we topped off Magnum.' So using this, after Magnum was Mean Streak and after Millennium Force the world's tallest wooden coaster? I highly doubt it but history does repeat itself. Does anyone remember or still have the link to this?
Yes, but there are several things that followed Magnum. A Soak City expansion, theming of DT, and then Mean Streak.
And as for Hulk, yes it uses a booster thrust system to propel the trains up the lift. The riders feel almost 1 G of acceleration. There is a fin on the bottom of the trains that passes between the wheels. At the same time the fin passes through these wheels, they spin up at increasing velocities. In an interview with one of the developers of this system, he said that if they drained electricity from the surrounding neighborhood, it would cause a brown out every time a train was dispatched. That's a lot of power!

Moderators, "can't we go a week without talking about what CP is going to get next." As you said in a recently closed topic, so you might as well close this one too.
For some reason I think a Thrust Air would just look too big but I guess I just can't imagine one at CP. They sound like fun and I hope CP gets one or two (dueling):) I would like to try one they look so neat!

There's a big problem with the launched floorless concept that no one seems to have noticed -- there must be ABSOLUTELY NO LOOSE ARTICLES. Of course you can tell riders that there are no loose articles allowed, but sooner or later something would slip through. Anything could drop and get caught between the drive wheels that propel the train up and out of the station. Even a small purse could funk things up in a baaaaad way.

CP Fanatic, it's better to have one thread where everybody can say what they think is next rather than several threads.
TCKR, your correct, but it hasn’t happened to any other floorless coaster yet. There’s another big problem with a floorless coaster, which would be your legs! Everyone has the tendency of stretching their legs on inverted and floorless coasters. That means your legs would smash into the train at great speeds, unless S&S put some kind of a blocker in front of your legs.

Lets join forces to save STEUK'S (at least the sign)!
If I'm not mistaken I believe they already do have a "leg blocker" on Hypersonic so that people don't get their legs slammed into the back... and also I think TCKR was referring specifically to a floorless TA2K because of the problems with the launch system, rather than floorless coasters in general.

Everyone keeps on forgetting about the Boardwalk project- how would a TA2K fit in there? I think the Swan Boats/Wave Swinger rumor would work and and TA2K AND a CCI would work with that. I would expect the TA2K next year, and the CCI woodie next year or in 2003. Any speculation?

I agree, bobthetomato. Of course you must remember that CP hasn't built two *big* (I say this to exclude Woodstock Express and Jr. Gemini) coasters in consecutive years since CCMR/Wildcat in '69 and '70. This is also excluding the enclosure of DT.

Steuks!!
The boardwalk rumor has been floating around since before MF, and has yet to materialize. Maybe it just won't happen...
Actually, I was referring to the idea of a B&M launched floorless, which JasB67 mentioned earlier in the thread. However, now that I see that the concept of a launched floorless TA2K was also brought up, similar problems would most certainly apply.

Why do people think CP will never get a floorless or flying coaster because SFWOA has one? If anything, I'd build a bigger, faster, better one than my neighbor to compete. (if I was CP)
