no Thrust-Air!!!!

While I would love to see a launched ride at CP, I don't think a TA2K would be a good idea at CP. MF was built for speed...it's smooth, fast and has an 80 deg. drop, why would CP build a coaster that pretty much gives you the same sensation? (minus the launch, of course.)
I would not like to see one, either.I would like to see a good woodie but you know how much CFair likes trim brakes!!*LOL*It just seems to me like they stick 'em on every coaster they can get thier hands on!!I'd like to see them try that up in Muskegon at Michigan's Adventure!!*laughing*Which is exactly why I am going to try and get up there to ride Shivering Timbers ASAP.~Ex-Troika Chick

I don't think CP brakes their coasters very much at all. The only coaster at CP that has bad trim brakes is Mean Streak. Most of the other coasters run pretty much wide open, or have light trim braking at the blocks, but that doesn't affect the ride very much. Mantis and Magnum are exceptions. On Mantis, the trim brake actually made the ride better IMHO, because you now get some hang time in the first two inversions and the rest of the ride is not as physically demanding. Magnum's brake going into the pretzel usually has very little effect on the airtime on the return run, and was probably put in place for structural reasons. Monty Jasper's comments during coaster mania were very encouraging. He said "Believe me, I wouldn't put brakes on a ride unless it really needed it". Which is pretty much how I felt that CP ran the rides. I wouldn't worry about Shivering Timbers, if the structure is holding up well than I feel very confident trim brakes will not be added.
Is this topic immortal, it should be dead by now!

A TA2K would not be like Millennium Force. Its true Millennium Force was built for speed but because Cedar Point goes for diversity, they could go for this coaster. You cannot just limit a coasters catagory to speed because it goes fast (look at magnum) so its not fair to say it about TA2K. As of now, the model built of TA2K is basically the prototype. There are so many other elements this coaster can have, so until you see the roller coaster with more features, don't catagorize it. Oh but if you really wanted to, it would be a launch coaster not a speed.

You are the Weakest Link, Goodbye.
Cedar Point will not buiild a TA2K in 2002 or ever for that matter.
I would be very bummed if the Point did not get a Thrust Air 2000. That is what I really want to go on...

mikey, (who was skillfully outbid for a Mantis item on e-bay ;)
I sincerely hope that CP does not get a Thrust Air, at least not for a while as I have 0 interest in this ride. I've about had my fill of steel coasters, how about some more wood?

There's a fungus among us
Same here Funguy. CP has an excellent coaster collection, and I don't think a Thrust-air would add much, especially variety. Bring on the CCI!!!!!
force312, what's wrong with discussing what we think Cedar Point will get next year?

I remember just a few months into the winter that MF was being built that people were already asking then. We told them they had another 2 years, but now there is only a few months 'til an announcement will be made for the 2002 additions, and I think it should be fair play to discuss what we think Cedar Point's next big ride will be.
Because this is like the 10th thread about CP in 2002, and the season practially just started for 2001.

"Your obssesed w/ that place aren't you?"
If you don't have interest in CP getting a thrust air I highly suggest driving, running, flying, hitch hiking, steeling a car, doing whatever it takes to get down to PKD to ride that thing, then you will hope (just me like) that we do get one!

correct me if i am wrong but dont the thrust air trains at pkd only seat 8 riders? i would think that would not have the capacity to run at a park like cedar point unless they got larger capacity trains.
Dan hit the spot. I didn't want Cedar Point to get a Thrust Air at all but when I saw some pictures of Hypersonic I changed my mine. The train may only hold 8 people but when you have four or five trains and a short ride it wouldn't matter(a train would always be loading).

Who said that they couldn't make the trains longer? Everyone thought they wouldn't get a space shot or turbo drop because of the capcity issue, and they solved that problem with Power Tower and making two towers of each, I have feeling that they can work out the capacity issue.

Went to PKD..and all i can say about that coaster is WOW..best rush i have had in awhile...i would of preferred getting that over MF. Didnt say that to bring on an argument..thats just my opinion and Im sticking to it. :)
The TA2K trains remind me of B&M trailed trains. They should try 4 across seating perhaps, the track sure looks wide enough.

Boy, all this TA2K talk sure gets my hopes up :). Hopefully, IT WILL be the TA2K...I'd rather have that over anything else. I think Dan brings up a good point...I personally don't know how to solve the capacity issue..but I have to belive that somebody knows....

mikey :)
