No doubt a few years down the road, and total speculation of course - but given CP's current pattern with removing rides to make way for a new attraction, could this be the next coaster on the way out ??
I was super before Super Stew was cool !
Awesome, another thread on destroying another ride.

Corkscrew is going nowhere, period.
Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!
People don't like it when you discuss taking rides down on here. When I mentioned that I felt Mine Ride was next, I had about 20 knives in my back. ;D
I don't like Corkscrew, it's bumpy, outdated, and unenjoyable. But unlike a lot of the coasters, it takes up virtually no space (plus it's really nice to look at).
While I can imagine them taking out Mine Ride and Mean Streak within the next 10 or 20 years to give us better coaster experiences, I think Corkscrew may be safe because it may not be worth it to replace. Really, the only way I can imagine it going is if it becomes so expensive to maintain or if they decide to build a new coaster in that area (which would mean they would have to build in the hotel parking lot, which seems unlikely as long as its being used)
You can see what I mean by looking at the dragster cam, http://www.cedarpoint.com/online-fun/webcams .Notice the buildings adjacent to CS and then the lovely parking lot following it.
Actually, the buildings next to Corkscrew happen to be part of the maintenance shops. According to the News Section, Cedar Point is moving the maintenance shops off point, to the location JD Byrider used to occupy, freeing up that space in the park. Not to mention, the area past the maintenance shops is the female employee dorms (Golds Dorms) along with their parking area. If I understand correctly, there is a lot of talk about removing on point housing (Golds and Cedars) as well anyways. Not trying to add fuel to the fire, but I'm just saying.
Another ride that would be easy to say 'Good Riddance' to. It sucks. When is the last time anyone on here even rode the Corkscrew? I can think of 1 or 2 times I've ridden it since it got seatbelts and both times I thought 'Why am I riding this piece?'.
If they can utilize that space to bring a new thrilling attraction, more power to them to do it.
I wouldn't be terribly upset if CS left. But, I do usually ride it one a trip. The front row has a great pop of airtime on the hill before the loop and another good one just after the loop. Additionally, it's the only inverted coaster at the park with a 48" requirement.

I too ride it once a visit, more if my youngest son is with me. He loves Corkscrew. I agree with Jason, the hill before the loop gives a pretty good pop of air.
I wonder how far out in the future someone will nominate MF as a good candidate to get rid of to put something better in its place?
Man, I'm sure glad Disaster Transport and Wildcat are gone now. Finally we can start talking about what they will remove next.
But let's not stop there. Let's jump even further ahead beyond Mean Streak and Corkscrew and whatever. Mine Ride is getting pretty old, so we better remove that for something else. Oh and Gemini, that thing takes too much personnel to staff, I hope they remove that too.

Level the whole park and put lakefront condos in!
Wait...didn't someone want to do that a few years back?

While it's not one of my favorite coasters in the park, it's still on my ride list each trip if it doesn't have a wait.
Oddly, I've seen CS with all the back queues full more than ever this year. I'm guessing it has something to do with a train being cut, but I never thought it'd make that much of a difference seeing as they were stacking anyway.
I can't remember if we discussed riding it or not on our recent visit.

You're thinking of Boblo Island. :(
Nope, George Roose and Emil Legross originally wanted to develop CP as a housing project. Luckily the park made money during the first year of their ownership and they must have been bitten by the amusement park bug because they decided to scrap the housing project and focus on the park.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I don't know how you can say it is unenjoyable. I really like this ride. It's short and every element serves it purpose perfectly. The second hill gives some great airtime and if you know to lean into the corkscrews then you shouldn't have any headbanging.
