I guess it is cool. Not sure how I feel about it personally. Seems like a ride to try out as the last ride of the day otherwise your day might be ruined after riding it lol

Lol which part, exactly? AWE won't be removed any time soon.

AWE might not be removed anytime soon but the stadium could be.

Now that the 2018 improvements are including expanded beachfront boardwalk connecting to the main parking lot, It would make sense to remove the eyesore stadium at this time. while doing the boardwalk construction it would easier and cheaper longterm to remove it while the heavy equipment is already there. Besides, it looks very out of place next to Hotel Breakers, Lakeside Pavilion, Windseeker, and Gatekeeper. Maybe Wicked Twister can get some special attention too while they're at it.

I personally like the stadium and where it's at. The beautiful lake and beach serve as a great background behind the show. I can't see it being as cool anywhere else in the park, and I don't think they would get rid of the show altogether without an announcement since the show is so popular. People would want to see it one last time before it goes.

The lake does serve as a great backdrop for the show but the stadium does not serve as a great backdrop for the park. Removing the stadium and building a new, more open theater for AWE to perform in I think would be a great idea. It would also attract many more guests who don't even know a show is happening inside the current stadium. I know many in Entertainment share this idea so it would not be a crazy to think it could happen and soon.

If there were that many complaints of its "ugliness", they would have done something with it a long time ago.

How long did it take to finally remove the giant box on the beach?

Sorry I edited my post XD

You are right though. If they kept the location but just built a new stadium, that would be great.

I wish the same could be done for the Red Garter. You have to go in right after a show ends if you want a seat for the next one! This year's Totally Live: This Country Rocks show was my favorite but there are not nearly enough seats or even places to stand that allow you to see.

As for the giant box, you can't possibly be talking about Disaster Transport... are you? That building was a masterpiece!

I see that now.

The show is popular and the park is well aware of that and I doubt they have any plans on removing it. However that doesn't mean they have to continue to perform in an outdated dolphin tank. All I and a few others are saying is that a better venue be built on the same site for the show. The stadium is really the last thing on that midway that is blocking the view of the lake.

Really I would like to seem them slowly replace all the Live E venues with new versions that are built for modern shows. None of them are in that great of shape to house some of the shows they could be doing. I mean the JA Theater is an old picnic pavilion. Not exactly the best venue for good acoustics and live mixing.

I think Jack Aldrich Theater was Centennial, and prior to that Hollywood Wax Museum, and prior to that Eden Musee. I’m not sure it was ever a picnic place.

But I’d agree 100% that the Live E venues at CP could use an upgrade. JA is like sitting in a kleenex box, and the two saloons are outdated and small. Then there’s that eyesore waste of space on the beach, which doesn’t work for all the reasons stated previously.
A side effect of better theaters would be better shows with higher production values, larger casts, and higher capacity.

Yes, Jack Aldrich's history is as you describe, I remember going through the Hollywood Wax Museum as a very young kid. That theater isn't a horrible venue, the worst thing about it are the posts that mess up the site lines for some seats. The sound and acoustics seem OK to me.

The two saloons have a lot of charm, I like them, especially the Red Garter. Some sound upgrades and acoustic treatments would be welcome for each saloon however. I wouldn't want them changed drastically though, the smaller size actually makes for a nice setting for the shows.

100% agree about the eyesore on the beach. With the new boardwalk going in, and CP's desire to open up the beach, I would bet that venue is not long for this world. It would really open up the views and make the area really nice if they do decide to knock it down.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I do agree about it being an eyesore now. But, like I mentioned in another thread, I love getting out of the sun and enjoying a show. If a new setup could include shade for the guests, then I'm all for it. If not, I will not waste my time on a show if I have to sit out in hot sun. When we did the show at Worlds of Fun, we lucked out that it wasn't very hot. It was still uncomfortable sitting in sun, but we managed. Not something I'd want to do over and over. Where the CP show, I have no problem with enjoying the show many times since I know I can get seated in some shade.

What you just said equates to spending more money to make no extra money. Based on the penny pinching that's evident from an understaffed and under stocked park, I have a tough time believing they'd go down that route unless the current venues were literally falling down.

The only time (in, say, the last 10 years) that I've seen dilapidated buildings (or anything, really) is when those buildings have an imminent date with a wrecking ball. Say what you will about being understaffed, but at least in recent years the park has gone to great lengths to keep things looking fresh.

As someone who deals with payroll spending, ordering, and attendance forecasts, I can only say that comments like this are very short-sighted.

In that case care to enlighten everyone on the reasons for the staffing issues, running out of product (specifically food), and why the park wasn't better prepared?

I have done that in the other topic with example numbers and the effects that has on staffing and stocking based on trends..

Summary: Staffing isn't only based on spending. I agree that they need to be more flexible with hiring, but more employees also means more spending, at the same amount of hours. (Payroll costs & taxes, etc) Plus, staffing has been a challenge all season, Halloweekends is no different. Running out of product is an indication that they were trending lower than expected and made adjustments based on that. Having the crowd shift away from the holiday to the weekend following was not, and would not, be expected by anyone who was responsible for crowd forecasts and planning. Are there solutions? Of course. But this wasn't a known problem until it happened.

They have charm, but the small size causes problems. I tried to see Eternal Jamnation at Red Garter several times this fall, but never found an open seat. A couple of nights, I did as others suggested, and arrived just before a show was ending. Each time not one person got up at the end. I didn't go around and survey them, but many of them didn't appear to be watching the show at all. It just happens to be one of the few places you can sit indoors and have a beer brought to you, and that seemed to sum up the clientele at those times I went in.

After 3 HW visits and 6 attempts, I have yet to see this show. I went to see Spooky Shenanigans, and had no such problems, possibly because the bar wasn't staffed. Instead there was a large-ish crowd hanging out in front of the Last Chance Saloon with beer in hand.

Queue the debate about sitting at the bar if you aren't drinking alcohol. Is it ok to take up a table/seat at a Live E venue when you don't care about the show? On the one hand, it is a venue to watch a show. On the other hand, they are spending money.
