Next Defunct Attractions

I also believe Corkscrew is the next coaster to go. Sad because it can serve as a beginner coaster (after Mine Ride, Iron Dragon, and Blue Streak) and it is a classic, but the end may be nearing.

Maybe CP could replace it with a small B&M coaster with a similar layout. Something like a smaller Rougarou. That would be a much smoother experience, but PLEASE give it soft restraints.

It may be the next ride to go, but I feel like well go years before another coaster goes. I still think SRF is the next to go.

I see Mine Ride going before Corkscrew, maybe to make room for the long rumored GCI. But with something like HangTime at Knotts, maybe CP would consider a Corkscrew removal in favor of that type of coaster. Looks like it MIGHT fit into the tight space that would open up with Corkscrew's removal. I'd be concerned about capacity with such a ride at CP, however.

CP already has a dive coaster.

I see a GCI replacing SRF before Mine Ride.

Getting rid of one of two water rides in the park doesn’t make much sense for keeping the other around.

Plus, younger kids seem to LOVE the falls.

Not sure if anyone shows that much care for mine ride?

I love Mine Ride! Such a classic. Would be very sad to see it go. Corkscrew on the other hand is painful and not fun at all.

I hope the park builds a flume like Timber Mountain. That would be great for families and would give a splash but not soak you.

Why build a classic log flume when you can build an innovative new Intamin one?

Yeah, let's have Intamin build it! We can call it Shoot the Rapids! It can go right next to Frontier Fling, there's a big empty spot there for some reason...

The big empty spot with no customers in it, IS Frontier Fling.

I still think the idea of a Mack Power Splash like Pulsar and GCI in the old STR and in the Snake River Falls sport would be amazing. Have them maybe interact with each other like Wodan and the one water ride at Europa interact. It would fit really well and would serve as a perfect replacement for the aging Snake River Falls.

Every time I see this thread pop up, i always chuckle. Corkscrew has been on a lot of your imaginary chopping blocks for years, and look...it’s still there.

EDIT: I also don’t understand the hate SRF has been getting too. Not sure why that’s another one that’s been mentioned by the Pointbuzz community on the next to go.

Yeah, on a hot summer day, SRF is pretty great. That drop honestly kind of scares the crap out of me. It's really steep, and generally a fun ride. Also, I think Corkscrew is simply iconic for the park. Sure, it's far from the greatest ride. But it gives one of the best pictures in the park IMO. I'm on #TeamScrew

Yes, Snake River IS excellent on a summer day. I always ride it if it's open. I think people are concerned for its future because of low ridership. At least some of us are still giving the ride its due.

I also would hate to see Snake River go. Love that ride.

While I don't necessarily think Corkscrew is endangered, Disaster Transport was on "imaginary chopping blocks" for years prior to it actually being removed.

SRF is not a coaster, and non-coasters tend to get that treatment. Personally, I think it would be a mistake to remove it. Unless they replaced it with a well-themed flume.

Mine Ride simply needs new trains with restraints that allow the ride to accommodate shorter guests. If we could get a Big Thunder Mountain (Magic Kingdom) type train, then the ride could accommodate 40" guests. This would essentially allow 3 year olds and up to ride the ride. (My 3 year old rides the Tower of Terror, Thunder Moutnain, and countless other fun attractions at Disney).

It would be a major win for the park as they would have a true "family ride". Again, for you childless patrons... I view a family ride as something I can ride with my entire family and enjoy. The multiple "balloon race spiney type whirley birdie woodstocky plastic swirly" rides that the park dubs as family, and are a dime a dozen throughout the park, just don't cut it.

But don't take my word for it.... just ask the expert on family entertainment....

If Disney went to Cedar Point today, like I do when I go, he would spend a lot of time on the bench watching his kids ride the "balloon race spiney type whirley birdie woodstocky snoopy plastic swirly" rides.

The reason I bring up Snake River repeatedly is that I’ve heard that’s it’s kinda become a mantinence nightmare, as parts are becoming harder to get ahold of because Arrow doesn’t exist anymore.

Doesn't S&S supply Arrow parts now? I was under the impression that S&S supports Arrow products since Arrow was purchased by them.

The parts shortage line of reasoning is either off or Gemini, Mine Ride, Magnum, Corkscrew and Cadillac Cars are all in danger because they are all Arrow products.
