News: Cedar Point to show the Ohio State vs. Iowa football game on the giant outdoor screen

Oh! I almost forgot about that! Looks like I'll be spending a while in Game Day Grille if it isn't a night game and they don't show it on the big screen.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

^^Ahh how ironic.

Kinda reminds me of this one time waiting in line for Magnum. My friend was wearing a Michigan shirt and some OSU fan saw it and shouted "Michigan SUCKS" This man happened to be wearing a Braylon Edwards Cleveland Browns jersey.

You Buckeye fans never cease to amuse me.

Hail to the Victors

I don't even really follow football. I just spotted someone using that tired, "I'm not gonna say it, but" bit, and I called him on it. :)

Well that isn't exactly how I put it, but thats okay, as long as you're not driven by some Michigan hatred. It's really all just playful banter.

Hail to the Victors

Totally! :)

I'm always proud to wear my OSU apparel when I'm up in Michigan for my church's fall retreat and district youth conference. If you see someone walk through Lansing with a pair of OSU pants and a shirt, as well as a hat, chances are it would be me, because, yes, I am that stupid. ;)

Where I am in Indiana though, you would think you were in either Lansing or West Laffeyette. If it isn't a Purdue fan I'm talking to, its a Michigan fan.

I think you got your cities screwed up. Lansing is home to the Michigan State Spartans. Ann Arbor is Wolverinetown. If you walk through Ann Arbor with an Ohio State shirt and pants, I would not be surprised if you were brutally mauled. I go to the University of Michigan, and I've heard plenty of horror stories about people stupid enough to flaunt their Buckeye swag in Ann Arbor. Same goes for Wolverines in Columbus.

Hail to the Victors

Wow, I can't believe I screwed that up. See, I really am crazy. :)

I must admit, I don't have any preference for OSU or UM, but there is a good mix of both sides in the "other Ohio". Personally, I don't care if they show a game or not, but I'd be faithfully riding the coaster nearby even in mid November for the OSU/UM game, :) or December for whatever excuse and January for the Super Bowl and... :) :)

Stanley Cup playoffs? Basketball playoffs? They could use it for a lot of cool things.

Bringing the Stanley Cup into Cedar Point would make my day. Actually, it'd make my whole spring!

But is it dark enough in those months to pull that off?

Because it's only dark enough in the fall, and the primary appeal is for Ohio residents, I think events would be limited to really big football games involving Ohio State (played at night) or when the Indians are in the World Series next year.

There isn't enough appeal for hockey, anyway. And basketball doesn't really lend itself to a big screen experience, at least in my opinion. But if it was dark and the Cavs were in the Finals, then perhaps.

Lies! All lies!

But, at least you injected some humor with the Cavs part.

Actually, you do have a point about the SC Playoffs with regard to the lack of darkness. However, if by some crazy strange randomness the Wings and Blue Jackets were in the conference finals, I could see there being some interest. Unless I'm overestimating Ohio's interest in the sport.

So, Ohio only likes sports in which they can actually compete?

Wait, that can't be true, because y'all don't hate every sport. ;)

That brought a nice little chuckle.

And don't underestimate Ohio's interest in the sport. Sure their pro team sucks, but their college teams haven't been too bad the last few years (OSU, UMO and BG) and seem to have a decent following.

People in some NHL cities wouldn't understand, but the reality is that hockey isn't close to the big three sports in popularity.

I'm aware of that (we don't even have a contract with ESPN) however I think fans of the big 3 discount hockey's popularity a little more than they should as well.

Last season, coming out of a lockout, the NHL had higher attendance than it did the season before the lockout. Now we have to see if that trend holds, and there's no telling if it will or not. But if it does, its possible that the lockout was the best thing to happen to the league (even if Bettman is a retard).
