News: Cedar Point blog shows footers at WWL site

I think they will probably just rotate the SkyHawk cam to the WWL site and add a new cam somewhere else.

I think it would be cool to have a cam that is inside a station of a roller coaster.

Since TTD never had a station cam or anything...

Correct, it had an "on top of an on-ride photo purchase booth, pointing towards the tower, station and the midway adjacent to the station" cam. ;)

I think scttmn31 means actually in the station, not just point towards it. *** Edited 4/22/2006 11:16:43 PM UTC by DBCP***

I saw a Camara when I was in TTD's station last Summer.

That would be a security/surveillance camera used by the ride operators. They just look the same because they are in the same housing units.

Well, I've seen the WWL area. It's pretty boring. There's nothing except a few footers that look B&Mish, but it's impossible to tell.

There's a large pile of dirt and some machinery. And all the trees are gone :( That area looked awsome with the trees and there all gone! It's just a dirt field. Not even grass. I'm sure when the season starts they wont keep it that way, I think they would roll out some grass in that area.

As for trees, they can plant pre-grown ones so that area can try to look the same.

Why the hell did they start so early?

Anyway, From the looks of things, it looks like either a B&M, or a 4-D(but it's remote...)

I've heard it's probably going to be either B&M or Verkoma, not Intamin.

What about the footers would lead you to belive they are B&M? Because I would think footers are all pretty much the same.

That would get pretty boring in December. But...it would be a nice addition when the park is up and running. I dont know what goes into setting these things up, but it would be neat to have one cam that moves to a different location, say week to week.

That information is very old. Anyone who's going up to get their pass should drive by the WWL area. There are dozens of footers (I'd guess 20-30 but didn't count) including some in the "Swan boat" pond. There is also a very deep trench that has been dug fairly close to the perimeter road (maybe 4-5 ft deep?)

There's been significant construction in the area, easily viewable from the road.

Hey, I heard a rumor that Top Thrill Dragster is sinking...

You'll have to excuse my naivety, but I did not know they would allow you access to the road. We are going this weekend to get our passes. Where do we need to go to get on this road? Just curious :)

I was at the point yesterday to pick-up my season pass and took a ride down perimeter rd. Like said before there are footers (about a dozen) a couple of trenches (utilities) and machinery. I dont see how someone could specify a ride company based upon the shape of a preformed footer. There are both round and square ones. The square ones previously seen in OnPo!nt are hard to spot but the round ones are close to the RR tracks and are about 36" dia. with at least 4 threaded rods on top. After taking a second look at my photos I did notice one rather large rectangular pad About 4' x 8' with at least 8 rods protruding from the top. As for the trenches the largest (2' wide x ? deep) was running parallel to the RR tracks about 4' away and was being pumped dry via a rather large gas powered sump pump. Overall the area they are working in is no larger than 2.5 acres and does not reveal much.

Perimeter Rd. is what you take to get to Soak City, and the resorts. It is on the west side of the penninsula.

Darn, I was going to going down PR when I went to get my pass Wed, but I thought there was going to be security turning people around. Oh well, when I went to Battery Park I looked through one of them coin operated binoculars and saw all the machinery that was going on. There were alloott of cement trucks going back and forth from the site. I also saw the big pile of dirt. No footers though........but oh well.

Only 12 more days!!

Oh, please not a Vekoma!

As for Perimiter Road, you probably wouldn't have any problem getting back there. This time of year there's so much traffic it's probably hard for them to tell, but if they caught you, that would be a different story...

Vekomas arn't that bad. Just the boomerangs are. There are plenty of good rides made by vekoma.

Well, atleast the boomerangs (as you mentioned) and the SLCs.... oh, and the flyers...

You might be interested to know that the little guard shack by Blue Streak/Bay Harbor is now gone. There are three large concrete flower pots in its place, LOL.

There are more than a dozen IMO. 20 might even be conservative. You can see them all over the place, as far back as where the Swan Boats previously were.

That's only my "rolling assessment" (we didn't stop the car) but it would be easy to photograph/count them now that all the trees and shrubs are gone :-(

There are several which are very close together, probably providing more clues than I'm capable of deducing.

Not that anyone ever sat in it, so it wouldn't have made that much of a difference anyways.
