News: Cedar Point blog shows footers at WWL site

C'mon guys the construction by the WWL site is the new Mega Locker structure!! They will need those big footers for support!! Have seen what them ladies carry in those purses?? ;)

To me it looks like the crane is further back, not really close to Millennium Force but I might be wrong.

The logical side in me feels that both a 500 foot coaster and an extensively themed ride of any sort can be ruled out. Cedar Point, in past decisions, has made it extremely clear they aren't about theming, and when the attempts were made, failed miserably at it. I don't see them concentrating resources into a highly themed ride when the park has always asserted its stance as an amusement park, not a theme park. As I was told over and over and over again at employee training, "the rides themselves are the themes."

I could see an attempt to install a family ride and a coaster to appeal to both audiences, as well as an overhaul to the general area. I'm pretty sure it was stated already, but I could see a coaster--likely a B&M--installed as the highest/fastest/somethingest of its kind. Cedar Point's business model has always been about bringing people into the park with thrills, and I don't see them suddenly shifting from this. I do understand the need for more family options, and I'm sure they'll address that. Maybe a simple log flume or a water experience of some sort?

Haha.. You know Sparty, amazingly, Mega-Lockers would not be such a bad idea... The abandoned Sponge-Bob numbers have gotten out of hand due to the fact that there are no lockers near MF or Dragster to fit such large stuffed creatures. The sad part is that often the abandoned stuffed animals were stolen while the guest was on the ride... So I propose a 500 ft storage facility for Spongebobs, mini-basketballs, dragster souvenir cups, and all other "banned items".... there could even be an elevator to take the guest to their respective storage unit, and a 500 ft sky slide to break some records, and bring back some CP nostalgia.... can you imagine the friction burns...wow....

At least they weren't to busy to keep us updated on the latest happening at the park. The more they give, the more you want.

I've read about the free lockers at Universal Studios and I think CP should take a look at that. With all the major rides banning you from carrying just about anything, people tend to want to sneak basketballs, purses, cameras, etc. on to the rides. The $1+ you pay for those lockers isn't worth it since you'll have to continue paying that for every ride you go on. If they offer free lockers, the rideops job would be easier and it would technically make the rides a little bit safer.

Then I guess the blog is serving its purpose ;)

Im just a little miffed that they didnt get to Hurrican Hannah's. So i let out some frustration on the board. I had asked if they could look at that and tell us details about this new place...since we go to what it used to be every time we visit the park.

So, I got what I asked for (shops, etc), just not the ONLY one I asked about.

That being said, does anyone know what kind of place HH's will be?

I wouldn't want to know those 'little' details. I'd rather wait 'till I'm at the park and see it and Remember it not being there last year.

They haven't failed too badly with the Theming. I mean Top Thrill Dragster still has it's theming even though the Tires and Spoiler is gone. Magnum XL 200 and Millennium Force I think have good theming with the tunnels and the cool colors they have on the lift hills at Night. Now one coaster Disaster Transport, to me I think it should be renamed to the Alien Encounter or something because they say it's themed to Alaska, but doesn't look like Alaska to me that much.

Disaster Transport should be dismantled and re worked and moved to Michigan's Adventure, in my opinion. A Snoopy's fight with the Red Baron may work there.

I'm totally with you on that one. The strict safety policies have always been a point of friction between guests and employees. Being able to tell someone to put their stuff in a FREE locker would probably lead to less stress for both the guest and the employee. Little things like this would go a long way toward promoting a family friendly atmosphere.

The trick is convincing the executives that what they'd lose in locker revenue could be made back somewhere else. But honestly, I've held off on buying a souvenir or two knowing I didn't want to be bothered with it when I went to ride another ride.

Paying for lockers, much like parking, is one of those things that just sours the mood of a person.

I agree^^^ I went to Universal Studios last Saturday and I thought this was a great idea. The lockers aren't free for the whole day though, but for the first hour and a half. Which is enough time to get a couple rides in then go somewhere else in the park and get another locker for a hour and a half.
