News: Cedar Point blog shows footers at WWL site

I don't agree. If we were to get something akin to Tatsu over at Magic Mountain, I don't think I would be complaining.

SteelRaptor, out of curiosity, have you ridden S:UF at SF Great Adventure? Ive heard that B & M flyers are smoother MUCH more comfortable than Vekoma's versions. And if CP got a flyer, I would certainly think it would be a B & M.

I have ridden 3 B&M's and 2 Vekoma's and I think the B&M's are definatly much more comfortable. However, it may have just been coincedence but all three B&M's had downtime while I was at their respective parks. And all the Flyers I have ridden were slow to load and unload.

I think that is a problem with all of them as well. From what Ive gathered, the line for S:UF is always long b/c of that. The line for X-Flight took forever...which after getting off just left us upset due to the quality of the ride.

I think that B&M has the better version, technically, but Vekoma has the more entertaining ride. If I could choose to ride X-flight or S:UF I would choose X-flight.

I totally agree with CP_Bound on the last page. Why would you spend more money into a new height breaker when you have to correct the one you have first. Kinzel likes Top Thrill Dragster, but like everyone else he is just frustrated with the downtime of it. Also I wanted to point out Gameguy that kind of coaster you are talking about it called a Twister Coaster. Thats what Hulk is. Now if you are talking a first of its kind coaster then you are on to something.

I had the same problem. The line took forever for me because one of the cars wouldn't fold back up so the riders couldn't get off. That happened I think three times. I haven't been on any other flyers other then X-Flight. Do all the flyers have that problem?

Imagine your favorite tv show. You've been through it all. The ups, the downs, the crazy coincidences and then bang! They tell you what it's all about. Would you be happy? Does it make sense? How come it all ended in a church? - Joker

Well, the B & M's load completely differently. You get int the seat just like Raptor, and then it brings you to the prone position.

Also, another difference is the lift. Vekoma (X-flight) has you go up the lift on your back, while B & M flyers let you stare at the ground as you go up the lift, which certainly adds to the thrill.

I rode Borg Assimilator in August and I know that the line was over an hour all day, and thats a full queue. It helped that I was there for an event and got ERT on it. But unlike Batwing and X-Flight, Borg has a single loading platform so it took forever.

I was talking about the mid-lift launch specificaly, sorry if there was confusion

I know this might be kinda old but has anyone thought of the idea that they might but in a huge wooden coaster some what like Son of Beast at PKI. But it would maby have 2 loops or something like that.

G-R-A-N-T

Wooden coasters don't need loops to be good: I actually think they detract from the feel of a woodie.

A new woodie would be great, without the loop. I hope we get a new great woodie, Mean Streak has just lost its glamour.(s/p?)

The footers I've seen don't like like wood to me. I think we will see a looper or interactive coaster/water ride (my guess is the latter).

How can you form an opinion on woodies with loops when there is only one in existance? Maybe someone else could design a better one.

That's almost like saying 4-D coasters will never work, because of the problems the one at Magic Mountain had.

Because I'm smart. Woodies require a LOT of maintenance and CP hasn't built one since MS. Whatever is going in the area formally held by WWL won't be wood. In my opinion.

Sorry for the confusion, I was speaking to Hartley.

I'm not bashing the loop itself, because the one in existence is, from what I hear, a very smooth loop. However, it looks tacky on the coaster, and when I think of a good wooden coaster, I'm looking for a classic ride, good airtime, and a ride that doesn't need inversions to be tricky.

Has anyone thought about a flyer in that area with an element that "flies" us right over (and close) to the water?

Im not sure about the efficacy of such an element...but it would be unique to CP...and to fliers...seeing nothing but the water coming straight for you.
