Ok, after the announcement was first made I just thought "Hey this looks cool." But after watching the videos over a few times, I'm really pumped for this. It looks awesome, that heartline roll looks sick! I also think it will be cool when your getting into a train and another launches just below you.
Nice choice CP, can't wait to ride it!
Proud holder of Cedar Fair stock!
Ok, I'm psyched like everyone else about Maverick. But a $21 million price tag?? That seems a bit much for a non-record breaker. The themeing(sp?) and 2 launches must be pretty expensive. I was thinking around $15 million...guess no "Dragster Downtime Discounts" on this one from Intamin. I also thought maybe there would be some big shocker with the announcement that no one saw coming (a "secret" element or some big improvements (besides Maverick) to Frontiertown). Ok, I'll be happy with what we got...the ride looks awesome!
On the animations, if you look at the place where it goes through a heartline, there's a little waterfall over the edge of the rocks. (Water WILL be involved :) )
Lara Croft - The Ultimate Tomb Raider!
"Wind it up!!"
It looks like a lot of fun, and it is a good "family style" addition to Cedar Point. I personally think it will be my 2nd favorite (after Millennium Force!)
(after 4 years of daily reading, and 1 year of posting, it's my 100th POST!)
Lara Croft - The Ultimate Tomb Raider!

Ok, that's like saying, "water will be involved" with all the coasters at CP since they all are near Lake Erie. Water is involved with the themeing, not the actual coaster. I don't think anyone is getting wet on Maverick. Just busting your chops, Mr Scott!
All the elements look spectacular, the "twisted horseshoe" looks amazing animated as well as the second launch and the turn at the end of the tunnel.
This just might fight raptor for the number three spot on my CP coaster list.
On a side note Walt and Pointbuzz got a little spot in todays Detroit Free Press, just kinda cool to see that.
It looks awesome, but the only thing i cant figure out is the way the station and que line system will work. It seems likke it will be very rushed inside the station. Also one thing that made me suspicious was will this really stand out. Like of course it will when your in frontier town, but that seems the only place where it will be visible. I was just wondering if it will attract as many ppl as they think back there. but i guess if u have a good advertising/marketing team it should work out.
Have you seen the lines for Skyhawk? ANY new ride will attract people the first year. If the ride is good enough, it will keep them coming back year after year. See MF for proof.
I am really Psyched to ride this thing next year. But, I was just thinking how cool it is gonna be to be going through all of the themeing.... especially at night!!! That is gonna be something else. So hopefully the lighting is done right in the certain parts of the ride.
"If it looks good, you'll see it; if it sounds good, you'll hear it, if it's marketed right, you'll buy it; but... if it's real, you'll feel it."
I can not wait to ride Mavrick, and believe this will NOT be a family ride. Yes, the elevation is low, but considering the speed the trains will execute the elements, I think (hope) Mavrick will be a steel version of El Toro. Total out of control speed, Gs, and airtime!
I'm very happy with Maverick. It looks like a well built, well designed coaster that with be very fun for all. Its not the biggest, tallest, or fastest, but it will be a fun ride that everyone will love. With it not being as tall or intimadating as Millennium Force or Dragster, I think many more people will ride this. I think this ride with become like Gemini. I mean, when have you ever heard someone say, man, i hated that Gemini, it was rough and boring. Never, its just a fun ride that everyone, young and old enjoy. Maverick will be the same way. I honestly don't see it making any top ten coaster lists or becoming world renowned, (I could be wrong though, I haven't ridden it yet ;)) but it will be a solid coaster thats a joy to ride.
As for capacity, the wait for this could be kind of long the first year, but I think with TTD, MF, Raptor, and now Maverick, people will be a little more spread out and waits won't be so bad.
I don't understand how a coaster with a 70 MPH launch, a 95 degree drop, and three inversions can be classified as a family ride by some people. If I was a kid, this thing would scare me to death. Come to think of it, the idea of dropping beyond vertical freaks me out a bit now.
I just wanted to comment about someone who mentioned something about the copacity For Maverick. They did say that they would utilize the old White Water Landing Station for the queue, plus the station platform. You also have the queue lines from outside the station, So to me I don't think the line wait will be that bad. They'll probably do what Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, and Wicked Twister does. Let only a certain amount in the station at a time.
Oh and TTDragster105, don't worry when I was a kid I rode Flight of fear and at that time, it was a powerful launch. They started to bring out these kinds of coasters. Plus your only looking at a height of 105 feet, so for a kid it wouldn't be that bad.
I have to say this looks to be one of the most exciting coasters since millennium to come from Cedar Point. All the elements just make it seem so intense and fun. The best part for me seems to be that the launch is mid course.
I would say it will be a family ride only if the family likes thrills. Some kids and adults love roller coasters, and others are scared to death so it would seem you can't generalize it like that. It's more of a personal preference. Either way this ride is going to be such a great addition to Frontier Town.
Maverick looks like it's going to be awesome. We spent all hour in AP Physics today watching the videos on the site and talking about it :)
And I don't really see it as a family coaster, it seems like it will be a little to intense to be called a family ride.
I'm really happy that CP decided to put a coaster in that will be fun, not just a record breaker.
IMO, based on the construction they have done this week, my guess is that they will continue building the ride backwards until they get to the Swan Boat pond again. Then After and only after the season is over will they drain the pond to finish the ride's circuit.
I am also curious as to the way the queue will end up looking. Will they reuse the queue lines that are still standing from WWL or will they tear them out and do something different. There is a lot of new station that they are still planning on building. Maybe a good portion of the queue will be inside. Or maybe the old WWL station will be used for the exit and that will be where you buy your maverick mug and souviner photo.
Can't wait for May '07. I'll be buying my new MAXX Pass

Does anyone know if you can buy Maverick t-shirts online or are they only being sold at the park?
Thanks
