News: Cedar Fair plans for 2022 include return of Cedar Point events, Frontier Town restaurant

Politics in this country are awful, both far right and far left. Both sides with an EQUAL amount of hate, but those on the far ends don't see it, they are blinded.

Exactly! Who could forget when Clinton lost and incited a terrorist attack on the US Government with the goal of over overturning a democratic election, while 147 democrats in Congress voted against certifying those election results.

I was hoping we wouldn't go this route and people would generally agree there are problems with both extremes because, well, both sides are human beings. Certainly can't be as simple as Far Right = Evil and Far Left = Good and Pure or vice versa. But as I stated most people at those extremes are blind and think they are right. Did you forget this:

On June 14, 2017, during a practice session for the annual Congressional Baseball Game for Charity in Alexandria, Virginia, James Hodgkinson shot U.S. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, U.S. Capitol Police officer Crystal Griner, congressional aide Zack Barth, and lobbyist Matt Mika. A ten-minute shootout took place between Hodgkinson and officers from the Capitol and Alexandria Police before officers shot Hodgkinson, who died from his wounds later that day at the George Washington University Hospital. Scalise and Mika were taken to nearby hospitals where they underwent surgery.

Hodgkinson was a leftwing political activist while Scalise was a Republican member of Congress. The Virginia Attorney General concluded Hodgkinson's attack was "an act of terrorism... fueled by rage against Republican legislators"

If you believe there is moral equivalence between a general desire to hijack democracy and give people healthcare, I'm not sure what to tell you. Even if I don't agree with the policy, I don't think anyone is going to die from free college.

That's not what you said. You said that both "sides" are equally bad or hateful or whatever. They're just not, and haven't been for a while now, culminating in the right becoming overtly anti-democratic, pro-authoritarian fascists.

I agree with you, sorry I added fuel to the fire. I think it started with "hate chicken" and I had to respond to that. But I do love CP and I like this site so I will stop with the politics. It tends to ruin everything.

I know I am not the admin and Jeff calls the shots. I too believe this site works best when politics remain out of the discussion and Cedar Point is the focus - the one topic of discussion of which we are all enthusiastic fans - but like anywhere else there are some strong opinions in both directions when it comes to certain "non-CP" topics.

I think I am the one to blame for bringing out the "hate chicken" sentiments by commenting that I enjoyed the Chick-fil-A food and would miss their departure from CP if that should happen. I meant nothing political in expressing that opinion, but the conversation devolved from there. I then gave what I hoped was a well reasoned and logical explanation for my opinion - resulting in more triggered responses.

I find it a shame that we sometimes cannot express non-political opinions without bringing about an onslaught of triggered political backlash in response, but I suppose that is the world we live in today. I am not sorry for wanting Chick-fil-A to stay at Cedar Point and I am not sorry for trying to rationally explain the reasons for my opinion, but I am sorry for any feelings I might have hurt in expressing my honest food based opinion -- in this thread where the topic of discussion was about possible new or replacement food establishments in the Frontier Town area.

Yeah. Let’s keep the hate chicken and good vs evil politics over on CoasterBuzz where it belongs.

You guys realize you are not legally obligated to read every post in every thread, right?

If anyone’s looking for a suck-up apology from me you’re not going to get one.
Also, let’s not confuse human rights and decency with “politics”.

100% agree with that sentiment, and it goes back to my point about moral equivalence. Being a dick to people, suppressing equality, funding discrimination, these are not issues of politics. We're talking about basic human respect.

Yes, just as much of the pandemic has been made "political." There shouldn't be anything political about showing basic human decency or establishing a basic level of factual understanding.

Anybody who has the time to read every single post in every thread has much more time on their hands than I do!

I'm not sure this belongs in this thread, so my apologies if I'm hijacking it. But I also don't think my question warrants a new thread, and it is related to the 2022 CP season.

We were long, long-time Platinum Pass holders until the dreaded Gold Pass was introduced. We had the all-season dining and drink add-ons as well for years. (No, I don't want another heated argument about "gold passers"; it just made sense for us to downgrade since we don't travel to other CF parks.). I know all about the $99 "early bird" pricing. But does anyone know, or have any anecdotal evidence, if the pricing for the all-season food and all-season drink add-ons also increases after the September 6 deadline, or do those stay pretty consistent?

CfA going away is unlikely. They just re-established that franchise after failing to do the same kind of foods on their own. The place makes pails of money, EBITDA says it stays... The carousel building is an "installed" haunt and storage in the summer so it is unlikely to change or go away. Its expense has likely been amortized and it drives customers to the park during haunt.

I remember the year(s?) when they tried doing it with their own team. It was so disappointing in comparison. With the number of CfA in the area I definitely understand why they went with them. If they do see the demand for that type of food (and seeing how busy CfA stays and on average how well it handles the line) I think they are better off outsourcing to someone than not.

Still haven't been able to uncross these circuits...

I don't give two chicken fingers about CfAs politics; I just don't care for their food.
And it's silly to have a major food stand that's closed every Sunday by design.
Wasted space, git em outta there.

There's a Raising Cane's headed to Sandusky, hopefully their imminent success there will inspire the park to replace Hate Chicken with that.

Seems like they already have a Peanuts license too so they'll fit right in.

That’s odd. We have Cane’s here and I never noticed those lovable peanuts characters. But part of that may be that they were drive thru only for so long and may still be. Or that I haven’t been in a minute.
Anyway, there are certain restaurant chains that are present at amusement/theme parks across the country. Hate Chicken, Johnny Rockets, and Subway come to mind immediately. Lagoon has an Arby’s. It seems to me that Cane’s would likely not be one of those. Melt halfway made sense for CP because it’s “local” and has less of a National presence.

I've been to Cane's many times and have never noticed Peanuts characters in there. But maybe it's just in kids meals and I never get those.

It appears the founder is a dog person and dogs are used as mascots in marketing. They use Peanuts in some of their promotions.
