News: 2007 Season Passes on sale September 22

Did you guys miss my post where I suggested the whole scanning of parking passes at the toll plazas?? LOL!!

Less visits for me to PKI and GL.....I really think they are missing the boat on this one.....

Yes, it was a bad idea then, but sounded much better once I said it. ;)

Well, you forgot to add the part in about only allowing one "family" pass to be scanned per day. I gues to eliminate birdofprey from bussing people in, you can add a time delay to the pass too. Like, if you enter too close to the time you scanned earlier, it flags you. Then they can keep an eye on who is trying to be the new CP blue thunder.

I'm curious how some of the local hotels operate now (this may have been discussed, if so, flame away). I know some of them operate shuttles to the park. Is CP trying to cut back on allowing this?

I think the fraud issue has more to do with you loaning your season pass to someone to obtain free parking, but not necessarily using your pass to obtain entry into the park.

I'm very mad about this issue. I own one car and lease another. Now Cedar Point is telling me to decide which vehicle I'm going to use next season for all of my trips. No more dividing the mileage between the older high mileage vehicle and the leased vehicle with its set mileage allowance.

I've had 2 less trips this year, and will definitely have fewer next year if this policy isn't changed.

Both of those fraud issues would be easily prevented if they had employees that gave a flying you know what. They may give a crap if they weren't getting paid about as much as a carnie.

A solution to this is that one pass purchase covers up to two vehicles. Most families don't have more than 2 vehicles. When you purchase your pass, you can opt to get two tags for the price of one. If you decide you want to add one later, you have to pay 5 or 10 bucks. Not sure how you would prove ownership of your vehicle, maybe bring in the title or something.

Whoever is making the decisions for Geauga Lake from day one ought to be kicked in the can. They have made one bad PR move after another. The Frequent Readers who wouldn't get their admission prize honored..then did. The season pass/parking issues they now face.

It seems to me that they keep taking one step forward and two steps back. It stinks of absolutely no planning and noone have the stones to say, "hey...Dick...this just doesn't make any sense."

And I have no reason to believe this type of stuff isn't coming directly from the top.

Issuing parking passes to more than one car is bad. That means a family could drive two cars in the same day and I'm sure CP wants to avoid that.

It really puzzles me as to how CP can have THE best website in the industry, yet be so far behind when it comes to implementing technology into their business. It can't possibly cost that much to incorporate the toll plazas into their ticket database. Scan the bloody parking passes at the toll plazas. Problem solved. Geesh.

I'm implementing biometric hand scanners to a construction site in a 3rd world country to keep track of our workers. It doesn't cost very much, and its fraud-proof. I can't see why CP doesn't have the money or knowledge to keep track of their parking passes.

Just about everything they do technology-wise (except the website) seems like it's right out of the 1990's. Can't scan passes from other Cedar Fair parks, can't scan parking, can't automate the season pass process (how many times do we have to fill out the same information, and how many pieces of paper are involved?) Maybe "1990's" is giving them too much credit.

A little IT investment would go a long way. For an operation their size, what they have today is embarrassing.

Hey, I heard a rumor that Top Thrill Dragster is sinking...

They finally, in August, figured out that they could scan the GL season passes with the CP add-ons.

We went the first time on opening day and they made us go through guest relations. Next time we went directly into guest relations and they told us we didn't need to come in there with those passes. It gets pretty frustrating after the 4th or 5th time getting told the exact opposite every time you go. Maybe it was because we were entering in the back by Magnum each time and they were a little lost back there, I'm not sure.

They've been scanning my pass at Geauga Lake since 2005...

That's the problem company wide. For some reason they don't see the value in technology infrastructure. How many times have we brought it up that being able to charge stuff to your hotel room is a no-brainer that would increase spending? God knows anyone who has been to Universal Orlando knows this.

Heck, I've had to *add* charges to my final hotel bill because the little piece-of-paper-in-triplicate that represents a hotel charge got lost on its way to my folio more than once.

Jeff - Universal Orlando stole that idea from Disney. :) I could be wrong, but I believe they were the first entertainment company to do that. They could be the first company to assign your park ticket to your room key too.

Holy bejeezus, adding stuff to your hotel room bill and using your room key as a park ticket? Have you all gone mad? It can't be so, CF's way has to be better! Handing you paper tickets at the front desk and making you fill out forms has to be far superior to automated systems and electronic devices.

We can't even get bar code scanners at the toll booths and other parks have technology like what was just mentioned. The last time I was "forced" to put a sticker on my vehicle was a red and white decal that screamed "Hey! I'm an enlisted Marine!" Just what you want when you go out in town and try to "blend in".

I think someone mentioned, at one point, that the wiring is all in place, it's just putting it to use.

OMG I totally forgot that the person at the front desk of LHP pulled out a ZIPLOC BAG with the park passes in it, then proceeded to hand fill out some form that said I bought tickets - I'm guessing it was a log to keep track of the ticket numbers. I was thiking, "uh.....that's interesting." LOL!!

Granted, I'm obsessed with technology and having it streamline things for me, but a company the size of CP should definitely start implementing things like this. It can only help their bottom line. If nothing else, it would cut check-in time in half probably.

I plan on buying a Maxx Plus pass for next year, but I am going to hold off on the parking pass. Hopefully CF will rectify this situation in a timely manner to ensure that we continue to remain satisfied customers.
