New Webcam & Blog Entry

Now's a good time for me to pop in. I just cleaned the GoodTimeCam (turns out a wasp was trying to build a nest ON the lens), but now it's out of focus. I'll work on that tomorrow.

So if I were to ask you where you'd want a camera (besides facing Skyscraper or Project 2009), where would you want it? Please keep in mind connectivity issues - we'll need to plug into power and a phone line.

I'm interested in your ideas.

Tony, any way you could get a camera like the one they have across the bay. The fun time cam or whatever it's called. Controllable and the web program they use to be let people have turns works nicely. It would be nice to have one cam like that with 360 view of park atop the Dragster. And some static cam placed somewhere where it really shows how incredible the park looks. Need to do it justice, that skyline is like a city's skyline in it's beauty.

How about atop Power Tower facing the back of the park?

^I would like one facing the back of the park too.

Hey Tony! Do you think we will maybe be able to get some pics of Sandcastle's finished look?

I would like to see a camera that isn't focused on a roller coaster/ride or construction, but rather an area of the park that is just beautiful to look at. Areas such as the Frontier Trail, Boardwalk/Beach, Marina, etc. A few years ago the camera was on top of Breakers Tower, it overlooked the Beach in the direction of Wicked Twister. I really enjoyed that view. Something like that again would be nice:)

That would be a good place to set 2 webcams at to focus to front and the back part of the Park too.

Yeah, I noticed how he nonchalantly threw that in there. Bring on the 500ft, 30 inversion rumors.

Tony,

Thanks for taking the time to get our opinion here on the camera.

I personally would enjoy a camera at the Magnum entrance so as guests sit and wait you could sit and watch them.

What else, uhm...facing the Snake River Falls bridge so you can possibly catch people getting drenched during the summer.

On top of the Hot Summer Lights screen or on the train station showing the Millennium Force entrance plaza/beginning of the Frontier Trail.

Shots of children only appeals to pedophiles.

Shots from on top of 200 foot tall or higher structures are just static images.

Dynamic images where we might catch some funny footage like facing Snake River Falls seeing people get soaked on the bridge might be good.

This view is stunning. I agree a camera should be placed here.

I think the front of the park, on the carousel maybe. Or about on top of the new Barn. A place where we can actually see what the people are doing. Plus at the front of the park facing in, we could watch the mad rush of the people at opening, and wish we were there. Hey Tony what is the deal with the Cleveland.com cam??? I always enjoyed the live streaming video.

I think the problem with on top of Power Tower is accessability and connectivity issues. With Dragster you can take the elevator up to work on it, with PT it would probably be a little more complicated.

How about getting back to Cedar Point's roots and having a beach view camera, maybe placed where the beach entrance is by the Beaches and Cream ice cream parlor.

Nice change of pace from the midway cameras and it would promote the resorts as a bonus.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I will make a vote against high rise web cams. They do nothing, but provide atmospheric shots of the earth, and the park is just a static image (ahem TTD camera).

You could basically have a fake high rise camera with the same image with a changing time stamp, and most people would never know the difference.

Wherever the camera goes I hope we have lower to the ground (30 feet or below) dynamic images to look at.

Perhaps you need glasses, because the TTD cam provides an excellent view and even serves as a rather accurate way to determine how crowded the park is.

And what's to see down low anyway? A static image of 100 people all in mid-step? Yeah, that's so much more fascinating.

I have glasses :)

My best suggestion is aiming at Snake River Falls bridge so you can catch people at times getting drenched on the bridge.
