I'm confused...is my avatar that offensive? It's simply good humor, I'm Christian and I find it humorous...wait, why are we getting into a discussion about what's tasteless and what isn't again?

I would Say put OTSR on Dragster Millennium, & Mantis, there all too dangerous
Top Thrill Dragster....Always number one
If you put OTSR restraints on Millennium Force, and Dragster, it will ruin the feel of the ride. Those two were designed like that for the airtime feeling. Mantis already has OTSR on the trains so that one is alright. Just reconfigure the belts or seats, but putting those on would be dumb.
I would completly boycott MF and TTD if OTSR were applied. It would be nice if we knew that labbar would hold people in and we could forget the seatbelt issue.

And just what good do you think that would do, Evan? Do you think CP is shaking in their boots because you, and possibly a few other people, wouldn't ride because your host for the day is very concerned for your safety?
Boycott away, boy!

Good evening all.
I am sorry if this was answered before but as I was reading all this
about the belt slack rule I began wondering one thing.
If I understand it correctly the belt is supposed to be a safety
back up just in case the primary safety device (lap bar )fails.
Now if this correct why is Cedar Point worrying about a secondary
back up and not correcting the real problem(if there is one)which I
assume is the lapbar device?
I would think that they would want to make sure the guests are safe
and secure and should be modifying the primary and not worrying
about the belts.
Sorry if I am incorrect about this but was curious and thought I would
ask the experts.
thanks in advance
I think the one inch rule is more of an indirect way of insuring that the lapbar is being used correctly. By only allowing to ride that can get an inch of slack on the belt guarantees that they are the correct size (not too big) for the lapbar to work as intended.
Folks, it's all liability. (Yeah, this is great for a first post.) If they wen't on lapbars alone, some idiot would figure out how to get out. (OK, that's a real stretch of the truth. [I overuse parenthesis.] But it's always a possibility.) That might not happen, but both hydraulic cyliders could fail also. (Fat chance, but still...) At that point, there's still a seatbelt to restrain the passenger. The seatbelt would have to break twice to break (or the rider could take it off). Cedar Point doesn't want (or need) a lawsuit, so these measures are necessary. Now why the one inch? (I read this in another thread, I assume it's correct.) The seatbelts are incedibly strong, so it's doubtful that they'd EVER snap, but they need to take every precaution. The end part of the seatbelt keeps the belt from sliding out. So this thing needs as little stress as possible. That one inch keeps the force (no pun intended) off of that part.
If you have trouble with the belt, here's a trick someone showed me last year.
1. Pull the clip ALL THE WAY to the end of the belt, and if it's twisted, untwist it.
2. Next, grip the end of the belt at the opposite side of the clip close to your waist, and slide your hand (still gripping tightly) to the clip. The belt should now be under your gut (should you have one).
3. Put the belt in.
4. Repeat step two with the belt latched.
5. Pull slack. If you can fit, you should have that one inch.
I use this, it works perfectly, since I'm borderline.
(And people, I don't use parenthesis this much, I just did a lot in this post!)

At the turn of the Millennium, there were signs. Was the something out there?... A mysterious force at work? Beyond words. Beyond comprehension. Beyond, beyond beyond… A natural force simply known as, Millennium Force. The future is riding on it.…

So is this the proof that MF is NOT getting a retrofit this winter to Dragster style seating?
I am disappointed in this decision and I am surely not alone.
They're just sitting there right now. Any adjustments will probably be taken into some place warmer like the Disaster Transport building or something so they can make all adjustments needed. Millennium Force will still rock even without the new seats.
If mf does get new seats lets hope intamin isn't behind it, they have been putting otsr's on all there new coasters inversions and non inversion coasters.
Isn't anyone noticing the lack of lapbars on those trains? Maybe they're just putting on the new lapbars.
Which part of "they strip down the trains and rebuild them every year" isn't sinking in?

Sorry Jeff,
I claim ignorance here. I just figured that it would take more than a few weeks time to actually retrofit these trains (assuming this is happening, I have heard rumors both ways). I would figure that they would spend more time in this endeavor.
I still think that I may hold off on purchasing my season passes until I hear one way or the other on whether or not this does happen. I miss MF so much and I only got to ride once last season. I think that if they do not retrofit the trains w/ the new style seating, that I may just take a break this year and use weekends to improve DDR skills.
Well it's now March, if they are going to do any changes they would have to do them like now or in a couple weeks, because they are running out of time. I think I'll be happy whether Cedar Point puts new seats on or not. Millennium Force will still be #1 favorite coaster no matter what they do.
Just curious, does Knotts have the same seatbelt rule as CP does on Xcelerator? I noticed they modified the trains with a curved piece of padded metal that is used to make the armrests bigger, so on larger sized people, the bar won't leave a gap between them and the small armrests. I'm just wondering why they didn't do this on all Intamin like trains, or is it just because of the accident @ Knotts on PP?
I'm not sure what modifications, if any went into S:TE. Anyone have more info?
You heard wrong. The real indicator is a tilt/level device on the lap bar. If it shows red, you can't go.
