Word on the street during the last season was that Human Resources was moving off point to a building accross the causeway from the employee housing complex... if thats true or not, I dont know

I could see it going in the EVC building. That woud make perfect sense. The building is more then large enough. Plus I think it would be easier if HR were off point. They could use the old drive-through part for when its gets busy with employee's processing in;) Just drive up, take your pic, and drive out.
Long, narrow AND arcing parking decks are EXPENSIVE. When you're doing a parking deck, you want a square base, and lots of floors. That makes a parking deck more financially feasible.
If they EVER build a parking deck, it better be off-point. But, then again, where's the benefit because land off-point is cheap. A parking deck on point would be horrific though.

Wow!! An error in Exit's grammar. :)
I figured it would fit well in this thread, tbqh. :)
i know Cedar point still has room to build. However, lets be realistic. There is not that much more room for many more large coasters. Unless you over- congest the park. I guarentee there is discussion about how to make room. I think moving the parking lott has to be in that discussion. 6 years down the road, and 3 more rollercoasters, CP will have to do something. Now CP, like most big parks, plan far in advance. Thats the only reason i brought up this topic. Where did the dinks on the cars discussion come from?
I disagree. Cedar Point could build six more large coasters and not over congest the park. Not every coaster has to be built entirely inside the park, look at Magnum. You could run a coaster out and back into the parking lot. I think the idea of a garage is interesting, but I know it wont happen anytime soon. Not even in a 5 to 8 year plan.
you could take out the picnic shelters and fit in a nice coaster, IF you arc it over the entrance. Maybe loop it so it looks like CP.

^ That would be an idiotic move for CP to do, and so will not be happening.

How would you loop a coaster to spell out CP??? I like the idea of pushing the parking lot back for some more space. I also like the parking garage idea. So what if its a little expensive? Dont build a ride one season and build a garage that would cost the amount of a ride.
Let's Get Weird.
Parking garage would not look good at all, it would cover the front part of Cedar Point for people to see and enjoy.

People have been saying that for years. Since then they've added Millennium Force (the longest coaster in the park (yes?)), Wicked Twister, and Dragster. Not to mention maXair and Skyhawk. Don't underestimate Cedar Point's ambition to add new attractions.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
I think there is actually a level that Cedar Point is approaching when it comes to congestion, especially in the area of ride entrances on the midways. Every visit this past summer I saw guests get confused at Snake River Falls/Skyhawk with the entrances and the lines. Plus there is also the physical appearance of the park to consider when you talk about cramming rides in every possible little space. Sure, they can fit the rides in, but does it improve the look of the park/skyline, or does it just add a cluttered look? Do you really think the park is going to look that great with rides practically stacked on top of each other? We may think that several coasters twisting in and out of each other may look cool, but it will more than likely look like clutter to every other guest.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

That has to do with park guests just not paying attention. Because there is clearly a sign for each one. So not really confusing at all.
All the other rides that I can think of have entrances that make perfect sense to me. I can’t think of a time when I was going to Cedar Point when I could not find the entrance to a ride (back when I didn’t know much about the park). In my opinion Cedar Point is good at putting entrances out in the open and clearly visible to any guest looking for it. With the exception of maybe Mean Streak, Blue Streak, Thunder Canyon, and SRF.

Refer to the last page about what I said as to coasters not needing to be built in the park.
Why would the guests care about that? The average park guest does not go because of the way a park places a coaster.
Random family- “I don’t really want to go to Cedar Point anymore. They have to many coasters that are to close to each other. Lets go to Kennywood instead. They know how to separate their rides”.
See, it doesn’t make sense. The more coasters the park builds, the more people will come to the park regardless of where a coaster is placed.

No matter how big or little a park space is a concern and how it's used is an issue. Even if one believes that CP has plenty of room for new rides (which I do, even though i haven't always liked the compromises made to squeeze in some of the coasters) it is only because they were cognizant of how much space the park does have. I would be shocked if the powers that be haven't looked at alternative parking options or other space creating or space saving steps that could be taken. It would be irresponsible not to look at all the options.
All that said I still would think that a garage would come out on the 'not worth the investment' side of things. That is unless CP thinks that they need more parking and that their customers wouldn't accept off point shuttle rides. Either way it doesn't look like the attendance is going up significantly anytime soon so why would they need more parking.
One place I would like to see a garage, and i think it would benefit the park, is for the Breakers. That would create significant land to expand the resort with a modest coaster to boot. It would give space for the little night spot many of us here have been wishing for. They could really go all out and find themselves a good urban designer and build a little main street with the Breakers entrance as the focal point of the street.
Sorry, i got off track there. Point on the Breakers garage is that I don't see much purpose to expand the midways until the park increases the daily population significantly. But a bunch of land for the resort would be a really good thing for the parks bottom line I think.

That has been a rumor. If a garage were to be built in the Bon Aire lot, the Breakers lot would free up a nice chunk of land that could be used along the Dragster midway. I honestly see that happening before a garage up front.
I think the Parking Garage would be nice by the Breakers Express Hotel, and the Shuttle Bus would bring everyone to the POINT!! all through the day and take us back at the end of the day too.
Buses are too low capacity for a theme park like CP. There's a HUGE influx of people in the morning and a huge bus fleet like Disney wouldn't make sense. They'd be better off with some automated monorail/tram/light rail thing that just goes back and forth and holds a lot of people.
I can see the tram idea working. It'd be much like the driverless trams you see at many airports (the one in the Northwest terminal in Detroit comes to mind). The only hitch is you would need a continous loop so you could have more than two trams going at once.
