Is there any plans on moving the parking lot? I have heard things from floating parking lots to large scale garages. I know this topic has been discussed in the past. However, I have not heard anything new in a while. Has anyone heard any new interesting thoughts on what could be done to move the lot and provide more room for the park. Even though everyone claims there is still plenty of room to build i would hate to see anymore landscape go.
To date, there has been nothing released by the park that has announced, or even suggested, that this was in the works... at least in the near future.

There's nothing new.
And there still isn't a room issue. It just takes a little while for trees to grow back.

Something needs to be done. They need to repaint the spot lines and make the spots wider or somthing. With these newer bigger cars the spots are way too small. Everytime I go I get a door ding.
Bring two traffic cones..place one in the spot just to the left and the right of your car. Problem solved. ;)

Bad idea. Just park in the back row. If you don't want to walk, thats your problem.
^^^Then they might make you pay for 3 spots, $30.

RIDE ON, and ON and ON and ON and ON and ON...
I doubt it would matter anyway. If you come in with pretty much any traffic at all, there are two cars right next to your car before you even get a chance to put your window up, or let alone open your door.
And door dings aren't a result of cars being bigger, its a result of people not caring about other peoples property.

You wont see a garage at CP in the near future. A parking garage can cost $10,000 to $15,000+ a spot. Thats building it on land that is much more stable than what CP has. haha And I dont think they'd do a floating lot cause they'd have to pay ODNR to lease the "lake property"
I have a feeling that we would see CP build more parking lots on the main land near the employee housing complex and hving shuttle busses or something to that effect running between the two spots before there was a floating parking lot...

LOL!! You guys crack me up. CP's land is perfectly stable. Did you miss the 400' tower in the middle of the park?
If there were going to "move" the parking lot, their best bet would be to the mainland. Land is cheaper there. Then they could tram, boat, monorail people in.
As far as parking goes, if you are directed to park next to a car that went in before you, just park sorta "far" away from it. Then, after the car pulls in on the other side of you, you can move to the "center" of the spot. That's what I do.
^ Um, Cedar Point is a peninsula. It is the mainland.
I think you've spent too much time on those islands, Tim. ;)

I've worked as a parking host at CP! You would be amazed to see the amount of people who don't know how to park a car, especially when directed straight into the spot. The parking spaces are plenty big enough even for large cars. It's just that people don't really know how the manuver larger vehicles. When parking cars you are forced to skip a spot or two in every row because people can't park between the lines. I just used to laugh at the whole situation. It helped the day go by faster. What's worse then guests who can't park is the amount of guests who lock their keys in the car.
If you are worried about your vehicle, just ask a parking host end spot so you have more room.

That Too! Im glad someone finally said it! Thank you!
How long is the construction schedule for a large parking garage and can it be done in the dead of winter very easily/cheaply? CP's time window isn't very long for such a project since they use their parking lot on opening day and closing day. I could only imagine the line of traffic trying to get out after the park closes as well.

I think construction would be the only real obstacle of a parking garage. They really aren't that hard to get out of, even with thousands of cars exiting at once if they are planned well. When I went to IOA I was surprised at how quickly and easily the garage cleared out. We were on the 4th level I believe right in the middle of the floor, and it took less time to get out than it does the CP parking lot.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
I dont see why there would be such a need for more parking. I mean how many days of the year do they resort to using the overfill? Im not saying they dont use it. Sure they use it, but it's not very often. And does/has the overfill ever been completely filled?
