New News About Next Season?

Isn't Magnum getting a paint job also?

Also, Gemini is getting reworked. I guess you could consider that new. RIP Six Train Operation, 1978 - 2003.

I remember this being a topic, but I don't remember the end result. Are they putting the air gates in? Why aren't they running six any more? How will the new operation work???

That question could be more easily answered by our always reliable RideMan, but yes, the station is being reworked in order to accomodate the air gates (really, really, stupid, CP) and not sure about the reason behind no 6-train operation...

IMO, I believe the station is fine as is, because when they were running 6 trains, you never had a crowded station because they were always getting people in and out, train after train...man I'll miss those days..

I heard somewhere that all the new station loading gates are the result of a new state regulation. Anyone know if that is true?

I doubt very much that Paramount would license the Gump franchise to their competition.

Well, there is a Bubba Gump chain, though I don't know if the chain is the same as the PKI restaraunt. Anyway, Cedar Point already has Viacom (Paramount's parent company) products in the park. Look at the Spongebob prizes for games!

Again, I cannot confirm anything, as I am not a person in the know(tm). I am only a guest who annoys them until they tell me something!

A search should reveal that the transition from six trains to four is more likely due to the installation of an "improved" automatic ride control system, with the controller parking the trains rather than having human ride ops park them.

It's not war, famine, or pestilence; it's only downtime.

Bubba Gump Shrimp Company will be where the Boathouse is today, many people say this rumor is true... I find it hard to believe I mean what place will now sell ribs near the bay?!!!! Then you have Bay Harbor selling fish and shrimp down the street, doesn't seem like it would make sense but my old room mate said he might get the job for the new Bubba Gump Project on the bay.

No criticism this is just what I heard.

I have heard from a pretty reliable non-CP source that in 2004, Ohio is changing from "manufacturer's specifications" to "ASTM compliant" for certain ride parameters, including fencing. I don't know the extent of this, but certain readings of the ASTM regs suggest that boarding gates would be required, although there is a clause that says, "Boarding gates, when used..." which implies that they are NOT required. But it is the industry "best practice".

The gates aren't what will torpedo Gemini's capacity, though. Setting up a control system that brings the train in the way Mine Ride does, though...that will really hurt.

By "yellow," are we talking about Dragster's school-bus yellow, or Mantis/Wildcat's retina-burning yellow?

Slightly darker than Dragster yellow, but not nearly as bright as Mantis yellow.

Viacom owns Paramount Pictures and Paramount Parks, and therefore owns the licensing rights to Gump.

What time does the water show start?

Jeff,

Why wouldn't they licence the name for Cedar Point if it would make them money? If anything, having Viacom licenced food or merchandise at Cedar Point would help them more than hurt them. With CP and PKI being at least on opposite sides of the state, they have slightly different markets. If PKI and CP were in the same market, different story!

Whether or not CP gets Bubba Gump Shrimp, it is obvious that there is some sort of licencing agreement with Viacom for things like prizes.

Different markets? What's Columbus? A million people that don't count?

Why doesn't McDonald's license Chicken McNuggets to Burger King? Because it's a matter of exclusivity. Having the place at PKI is obviously important to them from a marketing perspective because they did press releases. You aren't going to hand that over to your competitor.

Plush toy manufacturing is handled by totally seperate merchandise licensing agreements.

First thought on top of my head is that Burger King does just fine without McDonald's chicken nuggets. If anything, Burger King's nuggets are actual real nuggets that look like real chicken.

I would think that Bugga Gump's would like all the advertising they could get even if it does come from different markets.

That's funny...the last time I saw a package of Burger King chicken nuggets, they looked like Rugrats™ characters!

I said "slghtly different markets." I know they have some overlap.

Maybe the yellow paint is primer. If you watch HGTV, you'll notice the primer is yellow a lot of times. I can not imagine yellow supports on ID. If that is the case, I would have to imagine the cars would get painted too...or maybe new floorless ones? Hmmm.
I already ruled that one out. If you look on the other supports, they have a grey primer and even some white. At last count, I saw 4 brand-new different colors on dragon.

Ya! It would be great on ID with floorless cars and your feet dangling below you near the trees!!:) Also, a great view under you taken away with the enclosed cars.:)

4 new colors? maybe they're undecided.
