Just take the time to actually get the bumps out of the track and give it correct angles and radii. Not to mention 3 cars per train and not like 8.
Once all the info comes out Im sure Ill start working on an accurate recreation of the ride thatll be extremely accurate.
Not like Im a stranger to crunching numbers...
http://www.nolimitsdevcenter.net/u33
All recreations feature all aspects of the ride matched up. From lift hill angles, to speeds, G Forces, size, dimension and track length to within 1ft.
but if this ride is indeed heavily themed, that, will take a long time. *** Edited 9/5/2006 5:27:55 AM UTC by CoasterReal***
Yeah I'll try!:) considering i just started learning to use the Nolimits program about two or three weeks ago, so I haven't really got that in depth in totally crunching numbers in the program yet. But I can tell that a Nolimits Whiz, like yourself, could have probably made a better mock up than what I have made... so maybe you can give some good tips to all of us newbies to Nolimits? But like I said i just started to mess around with this program about two or three weeks ago and eyeballed every piece of track in these mock ups. Cant wait to see your "extremely accurate" version of this ride! ;)
Practice!
I think using this as a learning tool is a great idea. I started using NoLimits like 3 years ago and my first thing was trying to recreate rides like Raptor and Mantis with lots of varity in transition and angle.
Few quick tips:
Use evenly long segments. Try to keep one segment touching another to be no more than 5-10 ft longer.
Try to use segments from no longer than 30 to as short as you can. I try to stay around 15-20ft.
Con Roll is your friend, use it.
C2 / Lock - this is the button by the Con and Rel Roll buttons. USE IT. In order to have good transitions from segment to segment you need the handle lengths of each vertex to be similar in size. Start with the Lock, then, unlock and alter if needed but only in small bits.
Those should help get you started faster. The community has grown so, so fast that now theres so much data out there for you new guys that its crazy. When I started it was already growing but still new - not much had changed. I cant even imagine those first months and year that it was in use.
OH and another thing! if I knew and even played Nolimits since at least, Monday August 30th, of 2004, I would create some way better simulations than what I have already and ...(some of the stuff you have) ;) , if I had THAT MUCH experience using this program. But I guess I'll take my three week experience and just have to build on that for now. :)
Hey man is there any good literature that you can link up to read on further than just the basics? *** Edited 9/5/2006 6:18:51 AM UTC by Zbusta***
Youd be suprised. I know alot of people whove had the program longer than me but just couldnt get the hang of it.
Right now, www.coastersims.com is a great resource. Lots and lots of the best quality coasters for download (and rate!) along with TONS of informative help within the site.
Sorry for the plug, he asked.
Zbusta, I finally got to watch the mockup (I have dial-up at home so I had to wait until I got to work to see it), and it looks great! My only question is, why would you say I have nothing? ;)
My author website: mgrantroberts.com.
You guys are hurting my brain.
I wish I could do that stuff. I think I'll stick to The Sims!

I thought it sucked. You don't even have the scale right for the parts we can see right now.

^^That is kind of rude, don't you think? It's just a mock-up and it is obviously not made to scale due to various reasons and the inclusion of some elements from what we know so far. Waay to critical in my humble opinion. I guess it is not okay to have his own interpretation of the ride, but to each his own...

Damn. That was harsh. But that's what makes Jeff...Jeff. And that's why a lot of people think he's an ass. He's not PC when it comes to stuff like this, unlike what I have seen in a lot of other people on here. I like it. Ha!

Wow Jeff! what a nice comment thanks. :) Are you sure your kids didn't get a hold of your account and started making such immature remarks? Well sorry it is not a perfect scale of what has already been laid out so far, i just started using Nolimits about three weeks ago! I would LOVE to see your Mockup Jeff!!! :)
Dangonnit, Zbusta! You're supposed to make it to the exact layout on those aerial pictures & make it perfect! Get back to the drawing board, jackass!
Just kidding. Luv you! :-)

I think that was a little harsh, Jeff. There is no need to be a jerk. I am a little disappointed, your are right there with all the immature teens making rude comments.
Wow, I guess school really is back in. Took almost all afternoon for the "Jeff is a jerk" comments to roll in. He speaks his mind, and I can't help but respect that. It beats having someone talk sideways at you.

Hey, I don't care if you think I'm a jerk or harsh or whatever. I read three pages of threads going on about how awesome it was, and I didn't agree. People tell me everything I put on the Internet sucks every day (people who can't build Web apps), and that's the price I pay for putting myself out there. If you plan to do the same, get used to it.
Seriously, if you've been around NoLimits now for, what, six years, you come to expect a certain level of realism. If you think I'm critical, go to CoasterSims.com and watch people tear each other new butt holes over the most silly little details.

Someone had a daily dose of "Hater-aide" today.
"THE Top Thrill Dragster...THE Millennium Force...THE Wicked Twister...THE Magnum! How do you like those apples?!?!?"
Well Jeff, I appreciate the criticism and I know its not the smoothest. However, I hope you like to see it more because one of the producers of Fox News 8 in cleveland emailed me asking me if they could use my videos possibly for a news story upcoming! so at least someone semi-important recognized the time and effort put into the making of these mockups and saw the imagination of a fellow cedar point fan.(PM me if you wanna see the letter.) So if you could make a semi close mock up with a little dose of your own imagination we would all love to see it! Since you've been around Nolimits for 6 years, to my 3 weeks, I bet you can do better. :) *** Edited 9/6/2006 12:19:15 AM UTC by Zbusta*** *** Edited 9/6/2006 12:20:24 AM UTC by Zbusta***
