New for 2015

This is like saying you saw a car accident, and now you're never going to drive a car again.

Yea Challenge Park would be nice if all the rides were spread out throughout the park, giving them some solid atmosphere and revenue spike, along with freeing up the land from Challenge Park for future expansion! To me it's just really inconvenient and gets you outta your comfort zone when you have to leave the park just to go pay for separate attractions outside of the park! CP can have some fun with relocating all of these pay-to-ride attractions throughout the park and don't forget increasing the convenience/quality of the ride experience! These attractions would all fit in easily somewhere throughout and would not be a burden to future attractions.

Wow!....I believe next year will be special and going by the pictures on CP's website involving the 2 coasters, Point Pavilion, Blue Streak Midway and the new building by Gatekeeper.. I believe the park will be getting rearranged along with a facelift! Open up the BS midway making guests walk past BS to get to Raptor, giving Raptor a midway of it's own and adding dimension/depth to the park! Maybe a new haunt by Gatekeeper and Rougarou, which hints at being located in the back of the park near/in Frontier Town? Giving CP a haunt located at each end of the park themed along with their respected coasters (Gatekeeper/Rougarou)! Maybe the relocation/re-theming of Mantis to open up the HINTED Mi? Maybe the demolition of MS to make room for the new attraction, also HINTED by Mi to be a B&M addition? CP is also putting a lot of money into their lodging in the next few years and I cannot imagine them doing that without a substantial upgrade to the park... I cannot wait for this year's announcement, hell I can't wait to hear the announcement for the announcement!! LOL it's all just my thoughts for fun!

Amen lol

Mantis' supports started out a a very dark blue in 1996 (looking back at my personal photos) and then faded to what appeared to be purple about 2 years later.

BTW, Why can't Rogarou be the name for a NEW ride, and not a rename of an existing one?

Thanks! I was looking at them again earlier today and could still swear they look purple to me... Even though I was shown pictures where they were indeed blue looking. I was no aware Mantis had undergone a complete re-painting.

I had a nice look at the are that was re-painted on Mantis and it definitely was not some sort of repair. Colors look good to me in person as it was hard to tell from the pictures.

For every one thinking the new ride will be put in place of Skyhawk/CCMR chances are you are wrong. All the evidence we have for sure (survey markings) are at the front of the park, specifically the Point Pavilion. I remember hearing that Cedar Point often plans out what is coming about 5 years in advance so Sky hawk Breaking isn't magically going to change plans that are years in the making over night.

As for the rumor containing Challenge Park spreading out I believe that may have been mentioned in a 2013 or 2014 speculation thread but the idea was never taken seriously. As for Soak City being combined with Cedar Point, I don't see that happening this year but maybe in the near future say 2017? Thats just my guess on that and maybe the Challenge Park will just be done little by little like a ride at a time through the off seasons.

No. That would be like seeing a car accident and driving that same car that was in the accident in the same spot and conditions the car was in when it got into the accident and hoping you don't crash. Work on your analogies man..

It wouldn't make any sense to include Soak City with the CP admission. Why would they throw away revenue from Soak City admissions? Soak City I believe is a separate gate for the benefit of resorts guest. Cedar Fair parks that include a water park in their amusement park gate don't have a resort complex like Cedar Point does.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

^^You should talk. That was a terrible analogy.

There was nothing wrong with his analogy in the context of the argument. It's definitely Thabto's decision to not ride Skyhawk if he so chooses. But with something like this happening, you should trust the park to do everything to make sure it doesn't happen again. Regardless, you take a chance the moment you board a ride......any ride.

I'm not sure. This year cedar point has been including soak city in special offers all year into regular park admission. Then again some people might just want to go to a water park and not to the park for coasters and rides.

I do hope challenge park is mixed in with the main park. I don't think it's good use of space to have a separate park within the park for additional prices. By the way, I never understood why people would pay $10-$25 per ride a challenge park? The new slingshot is a whopping $25 per ride and the past 2 times I was at cedar point on a busy day, no one was in line for it. That makes me feel like challenge park isn't very popular either. So why would cedar point keep around something that isn't profitable, and takes up a good portion of the park? If cedar point DID move the challenge park attractions into the main park, where would they put them? The location of the slingshot looks kind of squeezed in and out of place. Why wouldn't they put that in challenge park if they didn't plan on getting rid of it in the next few years and it's an additional charge attraction? I think they'll announce the removal of challenge park and have the attractions worked into the park somehow. It will probably be a 2 year project. But that means the entire area where it was will be free. A new rollercoaster to occupy the area, or just soak city expansion?

2015 announcement:
-Repaint and retheme Mantis to "Rougarou"
-Blue streak midway overhaul including a new flat ride where the pavilion is. PR building will also be removed to make room
-Enhancements such as bathrooms and outdoor seating to C&P
-Raptor entrance moved to blue streak midway to bring more people into the area
-Gatekeeper building = new haunt
- Meanstreak = King James. In the next few years I COULD see it getting converted to a hybrid coaster and it will be renamed. King James will just be temporary.

I think they should just put the Magnum gate further back over by Ripcord, that would make more sense than to move all the CP attractions into the park.

So for anyone going out to the park in the next few days, I have a couple requests if you're able. If possible, could you confirm and possibly take pictures of these 3 areas of rumor?

1. Construction near Dragster. Where is it and what is it, if it's even true?

2. A portion of Point Pavilions is blocked off. Again, I'd like to know if this is a true claim, and if so, what is going on in this area.

3. Mantis. In particular, the new proposal that there is new paint on the trains. If so, this will easily (and unfortunately) disprove the floorless conversion, although a repaint/retheme is likely.

Thanks!

1). I found no construction near Dragster

2). Sorry didnt go by the pavilion but there was some work going on in the lot closest to the marina. Nothing major but I also didn't get close enough to investigate.

3). Well now, I'm not certain if the harness supports have always been that color... But the test seat outside the ride is the purplish color similar to Raptor. No paint on the trains looks new to me but then again I have ridden this ride a few times in the last decade so I'm not a great source of information

The most interesting thing that I saw around Mantis was while I was riding MF. There is the storage/shop area behind Mantis where some halloweekend stuff is stored. Does anyone know if that is where thd old cars are stored from the now defucnt coasters, such as Wildcat, disaster transport etc?

None of them have one that is as extensive, but Worlds Of Fun has a fairly substantial RV campground and cabin setup (same cabins as Lighthouse Point IIRC) and they just merged Oceans of Fun with the dry park as a single gate this year.

SO I'm looking at the webcams, and it's 6:30 in the morning, I see what seems to be some construction work going on behind Chickie's and Pete's. There is a crane and what looks to be some machinery work going on because I see sparks!

Mantis might be a bluish purple, but it definitely has never been blue. Here are some original pictures (notice ID's color scheme).

Even the "Banshee" logo was purple.

So I guess it is safe to call it Indigo?

Are they adding on new bathrooms? Or could it be something else?

First things first, MagnumForce14...

It's not necessary to include the entire post when quoting someone in a reply. Trimming the unnecessary bits makes for a much more readable post. It's also generally poor form to double- or triple-post.

Sure. Just so long as we're not calling it blue. :)

Best part of that article..

People like that should be punched in the balls. An enthusiast of all people should know that it's duration, not degree of forces that matter.
