I think this is a good ride to add. I would love to have seen a coaster for 06, but this is very cool. I read here more than I post and I want to stand behind the Greatest Amusement Park and their decisions. They utilized percious real estate very well, although the colors seam to match what is the theme up by WT. I think only good things are to come for FT area. I hope they mention more about WWL's area and the plans sooner than the end of 06 season.
Here's to 2006 and another season pass!

Who's not being calm?
And no, it is not completely different. Flat rides like Chaos and maXair are completely different. maXair and Skyhawk are extremely similar, I/E swings. Sure one rotates and one doesn't, but that difference is not enough to justify adding them in back to back years. And as you can see, I'm the only one who feels this way.

So, are you saying you didn't like the Screamin' Swing when you rode it?
What a waste of money, this cetainly will not bring me to cedar point next season. They should have built two MaxAir's last season and nothing this year. At least it would look so stupid building two almost identical rides in back to back years.
What A Joke
CP_Bound has a good point.
Sure PT and DD are very similar but look to when they were both put in. Really I don't think there would be such disagreement if the SS was put in 3-4 years from now. It's just the back to back thing that I think some people don't like.
I could argue that Magnum and MF are very similar in concept. But look how far apart they were built.
Let's say CP were to put in WWL and Mill Race back to back. Different rides but when put back to back they seem pointless.
Just my 2 cents.

101 on Magnum and counting...
I'm pleasantly surprised. I know that location and it's really just an empty spot in the park. It's a new ride! WWL's old site is really a prime local, with the potential view of the bay, some nice landscaping and could house a great ride or a nice park expansion of some kind. The logo for Skyhawkk is great. I do think however that the color scheme is out of place, if it was just toned down a bit, but I wouldn't want a tan or brown ride. This ride will help with capacity, it's economical, and it will bring thrill seekers torwards the back of the park. There's so many thing's CP could do each year... nothing being one of them. So it's a welcome additon for me. Especially because I know they're allready in planning for 2008 -2010 with their 3 to 5 year plan they work with.
I have to wonder, how many of the complainers here will be raving about the ride once they have actually tried it.
From what people above have said, the ride is fast, smooth and provides lots of airtime. Personally, that is exactally what I'd like to see in a ride.
It took me several years to get up the guts to ride Raptor. I wouldn't ride it because it looped. To this day, I still enjoy most of the larger non-loopers more than Raptor.
Aside from the removal of White Water Landing as the only water ride that didn't get riders soaked, I think what they are doing is one of the best things they can be doing.
Well, I wont be raving about it. I outgrew swing sets in grade school. I need speed, 60MPH just doesn't cut it any more, when I can do 80 on the interstate.
Besides, who is raving about MaxAir. Yes its a good ride, but most would not call it a reason to come the Cadar Point.
Am I missing something, the CP site says MaxAir has a swing height of 140' and travels 70 MPH. SkyHalk has a swing height of 125' and travels 60MPH.
How can SkyHalk be the world largest swing ride, if MaxAir is already swings higher and is faster?

One more thing,
It has a 48" height requirement. This is good for those people in the 48-54" area. It seems to be a good "big boy" family ride.
Doesnt anyone like the park the way it is?
I mean, what if it didn't change at ALL for a year. Would you not go back?
So you dont think its a good idea that they put in a Screamin Swing. OK...thats fine. But to act like suddenly the rest of the park is bad because there isnt something new you like there? (which you dont know yet anyway, unless youve ridden a screamin swing).
?
If you had fun this year, you'll have fun next year. And more, if you like the SS.
Im actually renewing my season passes as I type. With joy.
If I am going to drop $400 bucks for a day, I am going to spend it where I can experience something new and exciting.
Sorry, I have already experianced a giant swing this year. I'll spend my $400 at another park with a new attaction that is more exicting to me than another giant swing set.
Ok, here is my thought. I am not at all surprised at the idea of another flat ride. A year or two ago on these very boards hundreds of people were complaining about the lack of quality flat rides at the point. People want another record coaster but for god sake only one other coaster is higher/faster than TTD and it is the same experience. Sure I would love a new GCI woodie or a unique flyer, but come on people do you realy think for a second that the Point has given up on the coaster race. They will blow our minds with there next coaster, be it 2007 or 2027, and we will once again praise Kinzel/CP and there brilliant intallment decisions.
P.S. I could care less what new coasters come if CP sticks with this price cutting theme! Kinzel's "Big Bang" 1$ 20oz for 2007!

What I don't understand is why people get hung up on the fact Cedar Point doesn't get a roller coaster every year. GO TO A DIFFERENT PARK! Try something different next year! Cedar Point isn't the only destination in Ohio. Heck, I could name a whole list of things to do in Ohio with your family. Plus, Cedar Point will be cheaper in 2006...so put that money you save towards something else!
Having said all that, I'll join in on questioning why Cedar Point isn't trying to keep some of the charm that currently exists. I see all that wood sitting in the parking lot and wonder why in the world they wouldn't try to incorporate it with the ride platform, queue, or other theming. I understand endless concrete is easy to clean, it opens the area for better visability (and security), and also provides better air circulation. But come on!!!! I live in a city...I come to Cedar Point for an escape! We'll see. Maybe they will execute :-/

I think you are missing the Point!
We dont want a coaster every year, and I personally dont expect a coaster every year. I do expect something different every year. The problem is not the fact that the new ride is not a coaster but the fact that is is almost identical to MaxAir.
To spend 6 mil on a almost identical ride is really stupid in back to back years.
Its not the same ride...so why bash it? Sheesh.
MaXair has almost a half hour wait all the time, thats almost as much as about half of their coasters.
Cedar Point knows that people like these rides (including me) and they thought it would be a good addition. Its just a $6 million flat ride...keep your negative comments to yourself....or find some other ride that's space conserving and only $6 million.
2007 hear I come...
