New for 2006 - Skyhawk

Personally, I think Cedar Point could use another great looping coaster. I would be disapointed at a tallest/fastest in 2007 because if so, it would seem like that is all the park wants to do. 16 coasters... 3 loopers (one good one), 4 that were at one time the "tallest/fastest" (all with no loops), a twisted launcher, and a bunch of little ones that are mostly variations of the "go up, down, and around" like any speed coaster.

Too bad it seems the whole industry is moving away from loops.

On another note... who is going to be using SkyHawk to spy into the new "Area 51"?

You saw the blog and you automatically assumed it meant "big new ride." That's not my fault. It's like, once it's in your head that blog = world's coolest ride, then you can't accept any other reasoning.

I've said it a hundred times, but it's not sinking in. The new ride did not produce the blog. Cedar Point may have started a blog in the same season that they announced a Screamin' Swing, but the two are not related. No one inside the Cedar Point marketing office said, "you know, we've got this big new swing coming this year. We should create a blog to build anticipation for it."

The blog was created as a way to promote the park as a whole. I can't help if it if on June 24, you came to the conclusion that a 500-foot roller coaster was on the way.

If you want to see someone over hype a new ride, check out my 2006 Watch. But I'm just obsessive/compulsive when it comes to Cedar Point. :)

Trust MY experience.

Dragster was hyped, but in a different way. They came up with a new marketing method just now, and the announcment is Skyhawk. Personally I thought TTD lived up to the hype, but some disagreed due to it being just a L-TH-B.

I don't expect a CP fansite to come down on CP for a marketing blunder like this, so the fact that it is just me does not surprise me. There are too many fanboys here willing to praise just about anything the park does.

Don't throw out the "fanboy" term. That's lame. I'm sorry you can't back up your argument with anything other than, "I'm in sales."

Hype was created here, not from OnPoint.

If you were "hyped", you did it yourself, not OnPoint

Do you guys think the shingles in the latest construction report will be for the building behind Skyhawk.

I think this is the biggest mistake ever. I am pretty sure because Im an young teenager coaster "enthusiast" I know what a "mistake" is for Cedar Point. I am also pretty sure that the people who run cedar point are alot stupider then me. I think that because of this I will like never go there again.

Seriously, this is ridiculous. People need to shut up and use their brains.

I know the new ride was not the reason for the blog. They just saw the success of the HW blog and made a second rate copy of it. I have read every entry of both blogs, and the similarites make the copycat obvious, and the difference make the "lame" claims legit.

Walt, since your arguments have devolved to what they are, I am just going to bow out of this discussion. I know what I know and I don't need your approval to validate it.

OnPoint was NOT created to hype a new ride Holiblog was. Stop over analyzing things. You may have marketing experience, but that dosnt meen that everything has a huge marketing point behind it. How was it a marketing blunder? Who besides you feels betrayed? If it was truely a marketing blunder than I guess we will being seing articles about it right? Nobody but yourself feels it was a marketing blunder, and the only reason you do is because you over analyized something, and tried to impress yourself and us with your marketing experience.

Walt is not the only one disagreeing with you. Infact I still am waiting for one person to agree with you. *** Edited 10/31/2005 10:03:28 PM UTC by RockingRollerFarm***

You're entitled to your opinion, but I'm glad you finally agree with part of my argument. :)

It's too bad that because I'm a "fanboy," you think my opinion is tainted. But I've been around the block enough and have had enough candid conversations to know better.

I am excited about the new ride and I think this is a good move for the point. Even though the ride doesn't really fit it with the feel of FT at least its not just right there in he middle its off to the side a little bit so I think this is a good addition to Frontier Town

GMC came out with employee pricing first (i think?) to boost sales. Ford and Chrysler followed suit and did the same thing. And look, the promotion benefitted all three companies. Sure Ford and Chrysler "copied", but it worked, didn't it?

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

/me points to the thread he started >2 months ago.

Yeah, so the location was wrong (it was around the time that Demon Drop went up for sale), but I knew it was coming nonetheless.
Also, Screamscape has been saying 'SS' since June.

Gotta love the PB Censorship Machine!

"Censorship Machine"? Just what the heck are you referring to, ghosts on Halloween?

"Mystery" sources are a pet peeve around here.

This was hardly the world's biggest secret. Congratulations. You knew what everyone else knew ... well, except the location. Give yourself a pat on the back.

Screamscape also said we'd hear the announcement tomorrow. And?

That's the storage building for CCMR. The coaster goes through there before going up the lift. But I wouldn't be suprised if those shingles were replacements for that building.

Whoop-dee-do! They finally announced what we have known for more than a month now. I didn't agree with it's installation then, and I don't now. Why install a flying rat right after putting in another [superior] swing ride? Sure people have been begging for flat rides, but I don't think they wanted repetitive ones.

Another thing I don't agree with is, as some people have mentioned earlier, the color scheme along with it's location in the park. If you're going to build it in the Frontier area of the park, at least give the thing some mellow colors, like some brown and grays.

As for WWL's plot of land? That area may be treated similarly to how Dodgems I's land was treated back in 2002. At least we can hope...

Calm down, CP Bound. It was mentioned earlier that this swing is completly different than the one we got last year.

We may just end up liking it.

I bet when this thing is up and running, it will mesh into the Frontier feel back there a lot better than people are expecting.

I really like the design of the name, and how they include the classic "CP" like from the train ride.
