New Commercial Comments

You fail at reading comprehension, ffej, Columbus is quite a ways from Aurora and the Cleveland area. Better luck next time.

I have only seen one Kings Island ad in my area so far, and it was actually about a month ago, I believe. Cedar Point doesn't usually get airtime around here until late May/early June, and I know they've done different commercials in my area before than they do in northern OH. The solid lack of park advertising in my area kind of surprises me. I'm literally right in the middle of three major parks; SFGAm, CP, and KI. All three are within four hours of the Ft. Wayne metro area, and I would think the area would be a great place for Cedar Point specifically to draw resort guests, but I only see two, maybe three commercials all summer long. In addition to those three, Kentucky Kingdom, Indiana Beach, and Holiday World are all "close" but I have only seen one ad for either HW and Indiana Beach. The lack of advertising always puzzles me.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

You fail at geography!! Look at a map Geauga lake is in between Cincinatti and Cleveland. It may be closer to one that the other, but is still in-between. the 2 cities.

It's obvious to most what you're trying to do. You don't want to discuss the topic at hand, you want to incite the masses and get people to argue with you. That's what trolling is. You're looking for a reaction.

You've got nothing to lose. If you keep posting, you get to flame, occasionally adding something benign to make yourself feel better. If you get booted, you get the satisfaction of running back to GLT and whining about how you were banned because we didn't want to hear the truth, or some other popular falsehood.

I'm sure this post has a good chance of producing a smug reply. It will certainly end up being fodder for yet another hate post at GLT, adding to the dozens already there. Honestly, it's just a sad reflection on your community. (See Carrie's post from CoasterBuzz)

One question, what is GLT?

EDIT: Nevermind I'm an idiot. :)

Every time I make a post I get lambasted by someone on here. It could be as simple as not capitalizing a letter. I pm'd Jeff to thank him for something, and I get a smart-allec remark back from him. I really like Cedar Point and enjoying going several times a year. I find it kind of funny that people on here ask a simple question about a live cam and your co-webmaster basically makes another smart-alec response about " what would you do watch it all day?" Sorry if I take offense to rudeness. I do go over to GLT and find them to be genuine and sincere people that love amusement parks. They are good people that can handle mistakes in a post. Not one of them has ever been condisending or rude to me. Walt, you have good takes on alot of stuff, and have not been rude, or condisending and I know by your posts that you really love amusement parks. As far as the commercial goes I feel it is too fake and dosn't show how nice the accomodations are at the park.

That thing at the top of your browser with all of the letters and numbers, starting with "http..." You see it? Type something else there, push enter. Problem solved! Everyone wins! You're no longer persecuted, we don't have to see your thinly veiled attempts at trolling.

Got one commercial up on the YouTube account, for those out-of-market fans. I'll put more up as I get them.

^ Why do you even visit this forum if you dislike it so much? I have visited other forums in the past, and if I wasn't happy with them I wouldn't return.

I like Cedar Point, I enjoy most all of the posts on here. there are some very good people on here. There just seems to be a little group ( not even close to a majority) of self centered, ego inflated , angry people on here. It just so happens that one of them is a co-webmaster. Btw I'm a very happy person that dosn't need to make my self feel better by calling everyone a nerd or a dork for something they like. I have attempted to get along with certain people, but they are so much better than I.

There was simply no reason for you to bring up GL in this talk, none.

Not only is Columbus a whole lot further away then Cleveland is to any of its two parks, it also involves the discussion of how to fuse a marketing strategy together to get people to visit both parks since most do not realize that KI is now owned by CF. Not to mention that unlike GL, KI is a profitable park with a loyal fanbase and a strong community attachment that makes it the park that sells the most amount of SPs in the chain. The trick CF is trying to do is turn more of those Gold KI passes that Columbus people have into Platninum passes and getting them to head to Sandusky (and hopefully stay a night too.)

Seriously, reasoning?

At this point, do you really think it's worth your time, TD?

They may be able to handle mistakes in a post, but they don't take too kindly to differing opinions. If you aren't on the "Kinzel is a snake and should have his head on a pike" bandwagon you aren't welcome.

I have been living in the Columbus market since 1995; it is interesting to have observed how KI and CP battle for your dollar, and then to watch how Cedar Fair began marketing the parks differently once the purchase was made. I have caught the "mom" CP commercial several times, but actually have yet to see a KI commercial. Granted, I dont watch TV too much, but I would say year to year there seems to be a bit more airtime for CP than KI here.

Strange, since KI is a much shorter trip.

But do they sell the most because they are the first midwest park to open for the year? How many people who would otherwise get Cedar Point (or Michigan's Adventure) passes go to Kings Island when it opens in April and get their pass there because it is convenient?

I'm just wondering how much is actually park loyalty, and how much is convenience.

KI was the leader percentage wise in SP sales pre Cedar Fair.

JuggaLotus's avatar

Percentage of what though? Of Paramount passes? They were the biggest and most well-known of the Paramount parks, so that makes sense as well. And I think still opened earlier than the other parks in the chain (except for maybe the one that is screwing the 49ers).

ffej Ok, understandable you like this website. But how can you be a hypocrite, and try to talk nicely to everyone on here...then go run over to GTL and talk crap.

After Walt had mentioned the bashing this website was getting, I read a few of their forums. Wow, you think that we are mean? I couldn't believe some of the things that I had read over there. Not to mention that at times you were the one chiming in ffej, if not starting it.

The things that they were saying about Jeff and Walt were horrible. If you don't like a website, don't visit it anymore. Don't be immature and visit another forum to talk crap all day long. They went beyond the forum as well, and starting judging people from PB on their personal lives. It was some cruel stuff to read.

Then they went on and on about Kinzel, CF, and how they hope Cedar Point will shut down. I get the reference to the tin foil hats now.

I guess us "buzzers" are a bunch of CF, Kinzel loving, a$$ kissers. ;)
