Also KSKev has clearly not had a night ride on Diamondback. Because I have yet to hear anyone describe one of those as anything but amazing, as coasters that go out into the woods and have no lights on the structure usually are (not to mention the fabulous view of the twinkling lights of the park you get on the MCBR.)
Personally Diamondback is in my top ten (barely) but thats just me.

Now Ensign - I'm disappointed in you. They don't need now stinkin' bridge. Just use a transporter to beam the stuff over to the island!
We don't let civilians use that technology...

I think the Diamondback is awsome! It is a great addition to Kings Island! I am also looking forward to seeing the progress on the project at Kings Dominion and The Carowinds! It is nice to see the other parks grow! I also can;t wait to see what is happening at the Point!

Count me in as a Diamondback hater. I rode DB in the morning and at night, and I thought it was horrible. The helixes aren't forceful at all, and what little airtime it has can barely be felt. Its so gentle its boring. Magnum definately kicks DB's butt. This is all my opinion though so if you think differently thats fine. Its not worth going off on me because you view it different.
I assume they will build the new ride just like they did with MF's 2 overbanks. I don't know how they did that, because I didn't have internet back then, but I'm guessing it would be built the same way.
Let's Get Weird.
Wow, you didn't feel ANY of the 20 something seconds of airtime it's suppose to have?? I rode it like 20 times when it opened and while it has some not so good spots for airtime, the middle all the way to the back was airtime heaven for me. But I guess to each their own.

I was very much underwhelmed by Diamondback. It was fun, but If it were at cp it would probably be #5 favorite.
So maybe being at CP for the 1st time ever just one week before my 1st ever trip to KI spoiled me. Diamondback is good, but after several great rides at CP, it tainted my experience at KI. I was more wowed by Firehawk as i'd never ridden a ride like that before. You all should come to Worlds of Fun and try Prowler. Its an out & back wooden coaster keeps you moving (up, down & side to side) nearly the whole ride
Count me as a D-backophile. Intamin engineered each one of its hills perfectly for maximum floater air. They're as well designed as the horseshoe rolls on Maverick. It certainly isn't an intense ride, but if that's what you want, go ride Voyage. As for me, I'm already contemplating my next trip to Mason...

I am not a DB hater, but I was not impressed. Firehawk, Beast, and SOB are all better than Diamondback.
2008 visits = 38, 2009 = 19, 2010 = 11, 2011 = 14, 2012 = 10, 2013 = 14, 2014 = 14, 2015= 13, 2016 = 11, 2017 = 5, 2018 = 3
Firehawk? Seriously?
Anyhoo, I've seen some pretty heavy equipment move across the maintenance bridge to the island (near Mantis) so I wouldn't imagine any new bridge would need to be constructed for construction.
Mike, when did B&M start outsourcing their design work?
Firehawk is TERRIBLE. I rode it when we were at KI a couple years ago just because I hadn't been on a flyer before. It was a boring ride and not worth riding again.

I like firehawk and flight of fear better than diamondback. I also think Dominator is a better b+m than db.
I assume it dosn't take as long to build a water flume compared to a coaster, so could that be the reason they started at the other parks, and not so much at cp?
I went to KI and Diamondback is a great ride in my book but I perfer going to CP and ride Magnum anyday lol. Oh and I liked Firehawk too but it could be better for sure! Like the loop should be like Raptor and loop outside instead of inside the track, And have about 90% of the ride below the track instead of 50-60%,Just the lift hill lol!
Back on topic tho... I was just at CP Monday-Tuesday and i didnt see much progress...I tried to look around CCMR but i didnt notice anything. And on Millie Island looked the same as it did Mid May. Not much new if anything....Cant wait to see what goes down tho!

I guess you need to ride it more, because that's not at all what I experienced on the 20 or so laps I did at the media event. As someone else mentioned, there's nearly 20 seconds of airtime, much of it of the force-you-out-of-your-seat variety. The climb up the mid-course pulls some serious G's. After six straight laps I had to get off. It got to be a little much. I've never experienced that in years of marathoning Magnum.

I think it must have been right around the time I outsourced my brain... ;)

I believe it's B&M not Intamin ;)
I have yet to ride Diamondback. Is the airtime as forceful as Maverick? I loved Maverick's airtime. It has more floats than the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade:)
"Before you know it, that Maverick's got the drop on ya."
Yep, hence my previous post. My keyboard has this weird malfunction where if you type in a 'B', an '&' and an 'M', it somehow comes out as 'Intamin'. Gotta get that checked out. :)
If you like Maverick's airtime, you'll love Diamondback.

I just saw on screamscape they had some pictures by the Mine ride!

I think those flags were up last year also. Do you think they may have waited an extra year for a new ride?
There is a chance they were there for the new ride last year, especially if they are for some kind of utilities. In this conference call, Kinzel points out that they convinced a ride manufacturer to delay a ride until 2010.

Now since Carowinds got Carolina Cobra this year, I would think that their new ride was originally slated for 2010. But he could be talking about King's Dominion's new Intamin. Maybe not, but he could be talking about CP considering they did not receive anything for the 2009 season. It's anyone's guess, but it is fun to speculate.
