Mystery Construction

First of all, I'm not employed by Cedar Point anymore (my choice, not theirs), and second of all, I know people who know what's going on and speak with them about it. I have no need to tell you who they are, because I don't "rat" people out (for lack of a better word). Your cynicism would be well-placed if I had said something totally out in left field like CP is going to build the world's largest indoor amphitheater. But what is it about what I said that's so unbelievable?

Its that you said anything at all.

People Who Know almost never say a word, and when they do, its about something already painfully obvious, such as when WWL was going away and construction was occurring there. And what they say is always incredibly vague. People Who Know protect their sources, even it said sources are 2nd, 3rd or Nth-hand.

Is what you said true? Possibly. But I doubt it, and if it is, I wouldn't be shocked if its the last info you'll be privy to.

People Who Know talk more than you think. If you like your job I wouldn't advise going so public as to post information on a website (particularly if you can be tracked).

Greg, my personal ride history with SRF pretty much exactly mirrors yours. I've had one ride in the last 12 years or so -- two years ago when my daughter was tall enough to do it and begged me to go. So we did it, and guess what? She's never asked to go back on it again.

Snake is a one-trick pony, like TTD (sorry, Adam). WWL was a complete ride, one that I still miss (though not so much that I'd rather Maverick had never been built).

Referring to what RaceRinger said...
That's not the first time I have heard that info about SRF being in disrepair, but I heard different about what would be replacing it...Not sure if I really believe it though.

^ I'm with all of you regarding SRF. In fact, I have never ridden it, but rode the clone at Dorney Park once, and that was enough. I'm surprised to hear that it would have maintenence issues, though. It goes up....and falls down...

Perhaps the maintenance issues are related to the fact that its a steel structure that carries a lot of water. Also, I believe Dave noted that he saw welding being done on the support structure sometime in the last 2 seasons. Could it be that the support structure is deteriorating?

Ah, I would bet that is most likely the culprit...I would assume there are some strict structural guidelines the structure must pass since human beings are being carted around up there.

Is the SRF structure (at the top with the wooden canopy) designed different than the flume of White Water Landing (the upper portion)? Or did that have similar issues?

Strange. But all that said, I honestly would not miss the ride of it was gone.

Rumors of maintenance issues are almost always exaggerated. I wouldn't be surprised if they did welding on a lot of rides every off season.

Well according to my inside source, I have never been on Snake River Falls, I have been on other splashdown flumes that are smaller. Its nice to get soaked but I prefer to get soaked with the option that Michigan adventure and Noah's Ark offer, those smaller splashdown flumes are part of the water park. No on the other hand, I loved hoping in the logs on White Water Landing and love the chance soakings on Thunder canyon. Snake River falls is a one trick boring pony.

Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.

Is there room to move or rebuild SRF in Soak City somewhere, without taking away from Camper Village? I think CP needs the variety (+ some) and some people seem to like (myself included). As others stated though, some parks make splash downs part of the waterpark. Soak City could use another attraction, the lines there are sometimes redicioulous in July and August.

I was told this by someone who has seen with their own eyes plans for what's coming. And it's certainly someone who is trustworthy. And I don't think they care if I say any of this as long as I leave their name out of it, which I always will. I'll be laughing when I'm right.

You know, a lot of people say that on here and I've never actually seen anyone follow through with it. Not even a chuckle!;)

Oh that's fine, just as long as the list includes:
Demon Drop
Ocean Motion
Skyhawk
Wave Swinger
Matterhorn
and Super Himalaya.
;)

But yea, I don't care what people say about Dragster anymore. That is unless they say it was a waste of money, cause it's not! No matter how many times you say or think it.

I love cocky ex-employees almost as much as cocky current employees. But hey, when I was a sweep, I thought I was hot stuff too. Then I realized there was more to life than posting what I knew about a future attraction on a fan site trying to make others seem small and pitiful from my pedastal.

But I guess that's what grown-ups do...in time.

I can attend to them doing a lot of welding every off season. Look at Raptor, they even have to weld the cobra roll during the season.

Bring back all the elements of Shoot the Rapids, White Water Landing, and The Mill race all in one ride.

I know a guy, who knew a guy who's next door neighbor was the second cousin of the lemon chill guy's proctologist. He said they are putting in Geauga Lake's pepsi plunge flume ride!! Boy don't you all feel silly now!! I'm sorry uncle Eugene, I had to tell everyone.

Snake River Falls was in danger of failing inspection last spring and was barely ready for Opening Day. Don't ask me how maintenance can be difficult on the ride, because I wonder the same thing. However, contrary to what a lot of you think, SRF is meeting its demise much sooner than you think, and a coaster isn't taking its place.

You'll have to pardon my sarcasm when I say that I love how everyone has inside sources at the park, and knows the future of rides..but how, exactly, do you know this? Facts? Evidence? Or just another seasonal trying to be cool?

Haha. Classic.^
